Good morning ☕️😊 I bought a lot of sanwa parts last month for my pandoras box on amazon. They look and feel legit but this is great info to have for sure. I’m going to double check now. I also bought from the focus attack website as well. They been around for a while and are legit too. If it turns out those are fake sanwa buttons on the obsidian fightstick that is really odd and concerning. It’s not a cheap fightstick. We must dig deeper! 😅

So the main difference I see on the pictures is, that the right button is not fully rounded/circled. It seems to be cutted off on the sides 🤗 I have a Obsidian too, so I really hope they‘re not fake. That would be crazy 😅

For anyone wondering, it's the combination of the lower right print and flat sides that is the fake. The image at 2:58 is of real buttons with lower right print and text explaining this. Sanwa posted that image 1 day later to explain further as people were confused in the comments. The text basically says that the buttons that only has the print position difference are genuine. The buttons with the print position difference and flat sides are the fakes. They also explains that it's the OBFS with flat sides that are fake, but there are real versions with flat sides such as OBSC and OBSJ.

Is it possible that Sanwa changed the labelling on their button? I bought some from Amazon and there is now a >ABS< mark on them on the back. Reviews claim that they are legitimate and there is also a QR code on the shipping box that brings you to different invoices betweem the reseller and Sanwa-Denshi

Fun fact: many great things started off as copies. Almost all Cherry-MX style keyboard switches that aren't Cherry? Started off as clones, literal 'nameless' (back then) clones. Now, a lot of them are considered superior to the real thing, worst case it being a preference thing :p

No kidding... I personally kinda hate Sanwa's stuff... My own JLF is a hodgepodge of things like the OTTO V5 crate with a buttercade metal pivot and a shuriken actuator harness... Not to mention a 2.5 pound spring (Because I'm picky as hell) But my real gripe is with those Snape in (then off) buttons... My god have I gone though SO MANY of those things... 😅

@@Bakanineinstein might I ask you where you purchased the 2.5lb spring from? I just bout a 2lb spring from Focus Attack for a Sanwa JLF and I really like it. They only had a .9 lb, 2 lb and 4 lb springs though. There were no 2.5 lb springs offered for retail purchase.

@@rebranded1248 Um... Just an FYI... I don't know what kind of games you are into or the space you have available in your stick, but in my opinion Sanwa's JLF's are kinda a cutting of the corners for both budget and function in the name of cost and space... Seimitsu's stuff is often fair more accurate while retaining the fast speed of a JLF and the Korean stuff return's to a neutral position much faster and more reliability than there Japanese counterparts... My personal favorite stick right now is the Seimitsu Bullet, I have it in my Qanba Pearl for my PC... But even in that thing I had to lightly sand down the inside of the bottom to help it fit without interfering with the stick... Sanwa's are not terrible by any means but you can easily get something better that's already put together for around the same cost of trying to get all the parts to sorta get you half way there with the JLF...

@@Bakanineinstein I like to play all genres of games, however I use an arcade stick purely for fighting games. I have a Razer Panthera Evo. I read that only a Sanwa JLF will fit into the board. I tried the new 2lb spring and it is 100% better than the stock .9lb that Pantera came with. The stick was awful with input reading and movements with the stock spring, until I switched it. I have heard some people say a Kawol 1mm oversized actuator is really good to speed up the input detection in a JLF. Other say they felt it was to restrictive to their movements. Have you tried a over sized actuator? I would rather just buy a new stick that comes with a semeitsu rather than try to modify my Razer to make it fit. I really am not experienced or crafty when it comes to modding things. A semeitsu stick is something I would like to test out for sure though.

I can also confirm. My Qanba pearl has fake Sanwa as well. The joystick gate has is made of a different material than sanwa gates although it's difficult to tell. You have to do side by side comparisons. I decided to purchase a mayflash f500 elite and it blows the Pearl away in terms of responsiveness and feel. After only a few short months of use the rotator cuff (I'm not sure what it's called) begin to have a glitchy feel. Also one of the plastic covers that fits on top of the spring is a slightly different width then the sanwa versions-hi compared next to the mayflah sanwa jlf, a recently purchased jlf joystick from arcade shock, and an authentic part set for the jlf I purchased from focus. TLDR? I've been racking my brain trying to figure out why my second fight stick ( pearl ) performed worse than my entry level mayflash. At a minimum ,the gate, the buttons and potentially one or all of the joystick parts is definitely fake.

I’ve had my rap4 for over five years now and i love it. I prefer it over other sticks I’ve tried such as madcatz chun-li. I could definitely recommend it. Keep in mind that there will be a learning curve when using a fight stick for the first time. You’re going to suck for a bit, but once you get the hang of it you can start to learn your preferences and experiment with different parts if you wish, though Hayabusa is more than capable. Rap4 is a bit trickier to personalize with custom artwork, but it has ps4 functions like share and touchpad built in. No mic jack though. Great 1st stick. Possibly the last one you will need.

I always thought my LeEco LE-GFS201 came with knockoff parts. It's basically the same stick as the DragonSlay DGS-AK17, GameSir C2, or MadCatz EGO, which all of them supposedly come with genuine Sanwa parts, but my buttons are odd. A few of them have thick tabs that look shaved down so that they'll properly snap into the top plexi and panel. Didn't notice the stuff about logo placement so I'll need to look again, but I recall the microswitches looking legit, difficult to tell with those. Now I'll have to double-check the JLF that came with it too lol

totally should test against counterfeits. I bet most of the reason there is such an effort to counterfeit a tried and true design is that if the production spit out any other generic sounding name and brand with a slightly different design, it would be dismissed before even getting a chance just because they are not the untouchable sanwas. At least keyboard switches making their way into arcade controllers breathe some fresh air into the market (albeit that fresh air is cherry mx, witch basically stands in the same position for the keyboard switch market)

Let me remind you guys, as long as the PCB and switches are real sanwa, the body of the lever and buttons don't really matter at all. You can get cheap parts this way. I found that the body of certain sanwa lever clones are even more tightly fit the original sanwa JLF PCB so it doesn't wiggle like in the original sanwa JLF body. Some clones even has screws to tighten the restrictor gate to the body.

I knowingly bought fake parts as part of an eBay kit, and the clone stick is pretty good, it didn't feel awful, very little play and quite reactive. Overall not bad, doesn't feel any different from my real Sanwa sticks. The buttons are another story, they're fake screw in types and they work okay, they're just mushy. The kit was 2 sticks and 20 buttons for about 40AUD which is extremely cheap. I rate them okay overall.

I just want to know what a sanwa part costs. That would help me so much but no one bothers to say that. I see a 10€ stick and a 35€ stick. The 10€ stick says its real, but the price is a bit low, making me skeptical. On the other hand, the 35€ stick has a special transparent grip and just buying one of those as a replacement costs 25€, so maybe 10€ makes sense for a controller with a non-transparent grip, and if someone literally just told me which deals are “too good to be true” instead of just telling me to watch out for them that would be absolutely splendid

I just recently purchased some sanwa buttons from a local arcade parts retailer and the logos on them are in the 'fake' position, but its from a local retailer who claims they import them from Japan? I think the most likely explanation is that there are manufacturing discrepancies that differ between different batches based on the age of manufacture, at least in regards to the buttons. Then you have Sanwa head office which claims version A is 'legit' and anything else is counterfeit, when they probably do not step foot into their factory and see potential differences in production over time.
