Agree with every word. Love him to distraction even after all this time. Thanks to Chad for loving the Righteous Brothers, we need to keep hearing their songs to keep us sane in this crazy world. Bill still recording and performing, his more recent Blues are a revelation. Love them both.

Yes calmit, if he was asked to sing the alphabet, or the yellow pages or anything else, he would have put his own spin on it. He was a very talented man, even as he aged, he still had that beautiful voice, perhaps the range may not have been there as when he was 25 y/o. Actually you could hear the soul in his music. He is dearly missed, what a heavenly blessed voice. After all these years, we are still able to hear his beautiful voice. Bill and Bobby indeed complemented each other. Bill is still performing currently.

If only everyone could have been there...1965 was THE year to be alive. Bill and Bobby were top of the heap..the writing, production, TALENT of the singers, orchestration, everything...all came together to create real music, which is supposed to touch the soul and send it souring, which Bobby Hatfield did on this otherwordly, ethereal classic for the ages.

Chad, there are no other artists like Bobby. As for 'rambling," you are revealing your feelings and that's real. When I hear him I lose contact with everything around me. I was a 22year old girl, seeing and hearing him on Andy's show in 1965 is something I never forgot. In addition to him being so handsome and extremely over the top talented, personally he was also a great husband and father, a great man!

Being a woman who always loved his looks and gorgeous voice, had I seen him live perform this song, I would have indeed forgotten whomever I had been with and it would have been just him and me. Back in those days, we didn't watch the Person or group actually singing. The singers were mere backup singers to our actual lives. They were the Soundtracks to our lives. We can hear a song and know where we were, who we were with, what time of year it was, raining or sunshine, hot or cold, a time of loss, a time of joy or a time of love. We didn't have cell phones or video and we never sat around watching others because we were too busy living life and it's been great. The Righteous Brothers were played at our pre-teen, first junior high school boy girl dances. Starting with excellence.

How many 25-year-olds can you find with such mature, accomplished, yet unpretentious delivery? The man has a classic, timeless voice, able to evoke such emotion that it brings the listener to tears. There are today still many gifted souls, artists, because Almighty God does not cease giving Beautiful gifts....but they are suppressed by forces on earth that want to hurt the young and their future... There are many vulnerable living talented singer songwriters who are not given contracts. That is the serious sad situation of recent music industry.

But do you think the internet is making up for that, there are many talented people out there using KZfaq for their own channels and music. Wings of Pegagus is once such, a talented guitarist and singer who won't have any truck with the music industry. And then there's Tom MacDonald, the rapper, who writes his own lyrics, and produces his own videos. I'm sure there are many more. Talent will always find a way to show itself.

I cannot think of any artist that could sing like that, saying that in reference to the range of octave (s). Maybe you could take a look see at the 1965 airing, live performance on the Andy Williams show when he sang enchanted melody. Other artists have done that song, but it will not compare, to his rendition of it, he made it his own.

I was a teen when the Righteous Brothers hit the scene. In Alabama in the 60's and being a black female it was not ok to listen to Pop music. I did so I stood my ground and did it anyway. I will also tell you that back then they never dodged being deemed as Blue-eyed Soul. They wore it like a badge of honor when most white artist would rather died than have it said that they sound soulful. Here are some suggestions: 1. Poor side of town - Johnny Rivers 2. Never gonna give you up - Rick Astley 3. Any song by - Keith Sweat (Start with, Make it last forever and Go Outside in the Rain) 4. Like your suggestions Jackie. I listened to staticky R&B radio stations coming out of Gary IN or Chicago Heights IL and none of my friends in my white IL town could understand why I didn't listen to the top 40 generic channel coming out of Chicago. But then more Motown songs began playing on all radio stations so with the help of the Righteous Brothers amazing songs it opened up a genre of music they hadn't listened to before. The people I hung out with in my cousin's town in Indiana liked the same music I did including the Righteous Brothers . Also so did the new CA friends when I moved here at age 21 with a couple friends from Indiana. The Righteous Brothers had the same thing lov'n R&B living in white Orange County CA but they stuck to the music they loved and here 57+ years later we are still loving their music. Great music by the Righteous Bros. & others stands the test of time.

Back then in England, we were all about blues and soul, so the RB fit right in. When the Stones started they were rhythm n blues, covering Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, and those guys. We went to gigs where Howling Wolf, Bo Diddley, Sonny Boy Williamson were appearing, I once almost got to see Mississippi John Hurt, but he was ill and never made the gig. We got American imports of blues from the secondhand record shop. We also listened and danced to reggae, calypso was a thing, we culturally appropriated the Afro hairdo and went to illegal 'blues clubs' run by Caribbean immigrants. We had white guys who had soul too, Chris Farlowe, Tom Jones, Stevie Winwood, Eric Burdon, they were honoured to be labeled souful. Then came Motown, and the rest is history. What a time it was to be alive, we didn't realise just how fortunate we were.

I wish too we had music like this now, they just sing for their money, no passion.

You should know that they were not real brothers, just best friends.

He does lose the final note and they skillfully fade it out but it's an extraordinary effort and his voice was quite ethereal.

You need to make the microphone louder. And use captions. Sometime your voice drops down so low that I can't hear it.

Please react to some of the Carpenters songs, since you prefer the older music. Fantastic arrangements and great instrumentation, and of course one of, if not the greatest female voices of all time.

I agree with your comments. Bobby Hatfield was one of a kind. A God given talent, unfortunately, his cocaine use took him from us. We don't have the talent today that we had back in the 60's. That was pure talent.

Why try to make this sad event seem worse than it was? Bobby had advanced coronary heart disease and died of a heart attack, maybe he had taken a little marching powder to try to perk himself up for the show, but don't make him sound like a dope fiend, fgs! :(

@@rubydazzlerTessa, that story is repeated because some people can't bear to let a great one like Bobby remain great, and will use an innocent man, like Bobby, for a bad example.

Singers to cannot REALLY SING! They depend on technology to make their sound.

Bobby Hatfield’s command of his voice and the lyrics are profoundly moving. One cannot listen to him sing and not be in awe of his talent.
