About the desert from an Algerian born there: Please don't drink and eat too much, the extra weight in your body will slow it. Better take drink often than too much. The desert is going to be rougher on the van than the body tho. I hope you will have an escort there because traversing the desert is absolutely not a joke. Also, cover yourself with thin bright clothes as it'll make it easier to sweat and stay cool, the sun will mumify you alive if you don't, there is no need to suffer more than necessary. If possible, run it at night and beware of the scorpions. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you will make it ! Take care !

Personal emergencies, disagreements, time resources etc. Keep in mind they’re not just filming a video down at the office, they’re in a different continent dedicating their whole livelihood to another man’s mission. Just for the fun :), I wanted to remind you that the feeling you had when you obtained the Algerian visa is the same as the feeling of thousands of Algerians who obtain a visa for western countries after repeated rejection and hardship, and this has been going on for a 33 years. What made the Algerian visa difficult is the reciprocity, welcome and good luck in Algeria
@Tjalve70
@Tjalve70 6 ай бұрын
I don't think it was obtaining an Algerian visa that was the problem. I had no problem getting my Algerian visa a few years back. However, that border crossing is closed. And northern part of Mauritania is closed off for tourists. Also, you're supposed to apply for the Algerian visa from your home country. The border crossing was open for about a year or maybe two. But I think less than a dozen tourists groups passed through there. I don't think any tourist has crossed there form the south. I was in the third group of tourists crossing from the north. Basically, the problem is that Algeria makes it's money from oil and gas. Not from tourism. And since some tourists were kidnapped about 20 years ago, Algeria has basically decided that tourism just isn't worth the potential hassle and bad publicity.
