Lovely collection and so exciting to see the buds! I've noticed all but 1 of my Schlumbergera are in buds and.... the cutting from your 71-year old one is in bud as well!!! Yay:)

That's an amazing collection of Schlumbergera cactus Lyn! Lovely to see the different shapes and colours of the clades. The different and rare to find ones are absolutely gorgeous! Hope they will keep their buds. May I suggest...would it be better if you take them in the house now, since they are not in flowers? Love the cute miniature one. Thanks for sharing your beauties! So happy you love the Schlumbergeras Sylvia :-D I was thinking it may be better to move them in now and its a bit of a dilemma haha, our house is very warm and I am worried they may drop their buds earlier due to the heat, but I will have to think what the best action to take, its possible we may be able to keep them in our bathroom in the shower unit as its much cooler and still bright in there, thanks so much Sylvia for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and Paul lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Malta for a super Sunday afternoon XXXX

Always so impressed when I see your seed grown November Cacti (that's what we call them here in Norway) ! - Thinking of all the care and patience that has gone into growing them all the way to flowering plants ! 🌸💮🏵️💮🌸 I hope the buds on your November and Christmas Cacti can take the move from polytunnel to house to new polytunnel ! 🏵️💮🌸💮🏵️ I have no buds on mine so far, quite contrary, they keep growing more leaves... 🙃 I use to go over my Schlumbergera plants and remove leaves that stop growth in Autumn, before they have reached "full size". Because I think those leaves are unsightly... Pluss it helps the plants branching. Last year I did that too early, so more leaves grew out after I had done my "Autumn pruning"... 🙃 So I'll wait a bit longer before I do that (rather brutal) job...

So happy you love these beautiful cacti too Brit :-D and thats fantastic you give them a pruning to help them branch out more, I am really hoping that the buds don't drop off when i have to move them all into the house, it would be such a shame to miss the flowers on these stunners, last year they were all so late coming into bud due to the heatwaves, but this year they are all coming into bud much earlier, I hope its a sign of a milder winter, thanks so much Brit for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Norway for a super Sunday today XXXX

One of my schlumberga actually has fully open flowers at the moment. It started developing buds super early this year and tends to flower all winter into early spring. I’m really excited about it

Hi Lyn, love the idea, can't wait to see my Christmas cactus get some beautiful flowers soon, she's called Gladys, don't don't know if I told you, but I inherited her earlier this year, after a good family friend of ours called Gladys passed away at the age of 103, so I feel very honoured to have her, I don't think my Christmas cactus is very old, but she has grown so much since I've had her xxx❤️❤️❤️

I propagated my schlumbergera lutea by putting it in a (dry) closed ziploc bag and leaving it in a bit of light! Then once it has some roots formed you can just put it in soil! It worked perfect. Also the one you and I have is schlumbergera lutea subsp. lutea but theres another variety that's subsp. bradei! I'm hoping to get my hands on the bradei variety in the near future

Oh no, but the good news is Easter Cactus can be re propagated from cuttings, I find my Easter cacti are definitely harder to grow than my Christmas and Thanksgiving cacti, I have to re propagate the Clades a lot on my Easter Cacti as they are often dying back from the roots and base, thanks so much Ruth for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX

Hi Lynn, I was wondering if you can help. I repotted my Christmas cactus about 3 months ago, into an orchid compost with a bit have added gravel. It hasn’t pushed out any new leaves or not going into flower. I keep the soil damp and feed once a month but still nothing. Have you had this happen to you? Any ideas how to get it start growing again? Many thanks! Keep up the great work!

Hi Roberto :-D so sorry to hear your Christmas cactus is not growing, I always notice that after I have repotted my Christmas cacti that they often have a few months of sitting still, the reason for this is because their energy is going towards building more roots due to being repotted, the good news is this is normal, and I always experience this with mine after repotting, it may be that your Christmas cactus may skip blooming this winter as it concentrates on building more roots, but next year your Christmas cactus will start to grow new leaves and flower, as long as your Christmas cactus looks healthy and the leaves are not wrinkled then your cactus will be absolutely fine, its best to let the soil dry out more in between waterings, because although they don't like to be kept dry for too long then do still like to have their soil dry out a bit in between watering rather than being damp all the time, but I am pretty sure your cactus will grow new leaves and flower again for you in the future once your cactus has settled into the new pot, thanks so much Roberto for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX

Hi i was just wondering if you or anyone have ever tried adding Fine Charcoal into your cactus soil, i usually add about 20% and my cactus and succulents seem to love it, i bought a bag from Grow Tropicals for £5.99 and you get nice small pieces not dust, its also stopped bugs and gnats in the soil

@@AmarettoEyes hi I started adding fine horticulture charcoal into my cactus/succulent soil mix around February this year and I've had excellent growth and really good root systems
