Good afternoon Ahmed. First of all, let me express my deepest gratitude to you. For how exactly you run your channel. There are not enough words to describe how much you helped me in choosing my first car, in how you cemented in me the confidence that hybrid Toyotas are worth the money, that the technology is polished and reliable. I am grateful to you for your honesty, openness, kindness and how clearly you present the material. When I heard that you found the building and are setting up a workshop, I thought - oh yes - this is the best outcome. I am sure that you will operate at the highest possible level, that your client base will consist of the most dedicated people, true friends of you and your firm. Allow me, from the bottom of my heart, to express my gratitude to you and my most sincere wishes for success and prosperity in your work. Thank you, you are a real hero of our time!

My heart is full seeing your dream come to fruition. As a dedicated Toyota owner, (2010 Scion XD, 2011 Avalon & recently added 2015 4Runner) I know and understand the quality & dedication that goes into every build. I praise God for the blessing & good fortune that He has bestowed on you & your family. I live in NJ & always wanted to visit the Chicago area. Maybe one day I'll swing by for you to have a look & make some maintenance recommendations. Until then Brother, Stay strong & be of good cheer. The Lord hasn't brought you this far to 'drop you like a hot potato'. I will continue to pray for His wisdom & guidance for you the family. Congratulations & Take Care.

WOW! That looks AWESOME sir! Sure wish you were here in San Diego as it is so hard to find a reputable and honest Toyota shop. But at least up north there is a great shop and an honest owner/Technician! I will continue watching you video as they have helped me in repairing all my Toyotas. But after nearly 40 years turning wrenches it would be nice to find a trustworthy knowledgeable Toyota repair shop that can work on my Toyotas as it's getting harder to do all the repairs myself. Thanks again for helping people like myself in the repair of our Toyotas!!!

Congrats on the fruits of your labor! It's easy to see how proud you are of this new venture! I have decades of dealership experience as a tech and agree with how you have set up the shop so far. I also have a Bendpak assymetric hoist in my shop at home. After my research and now 14 years of use, I can tell you that they are the best. Far superior to Rotary IMO. Especially considering their price. As well the Ammco lathe is definitely the way to go also. Not cheap but super reliable and capable of a great finish. And of course your Master Series toolbox will be put to good use in that environment. I look forward to seeing a tour of that as well. I have a 1023 and Classic 78 stuffed full of tools so I would imagine you will need more space before too long as well. Efficiency will play a big role for you because you are going to get very busy. Hopefully you know a couple good techs from your stealer.......I mean dealership days that you can scoop! :) In any case, I wish you and Mrs. CCN a prosperous future. Your attitude, morals, and genuine care for people and their cars will prove to be your greatest asset in years to come. Bless you guys!

Looks great! A clean and organized shop is a productive shop and is a reflection of the type of work done there. I’m a former heavy equipment/diesel mechanic and now a retired industrial electrician. I can appreciate your obsession with clean floors, my high school auto shop teacher who I’m still friends with today used to make us scrub the shop floor with industrial acid soap and water at the end of every class. He applied the soap and water, half the class was on brooms, and the other half were on squeegees so it only took us about 5 minutes. Sorb-all was not allowed in the shop because of the potential of it getting into an engine, transmission, differential, or other sensitive component. When I went to heavy equipment school we had the same rule for oil dry/sorb-all. It’s often hard to convince people that whatever is on your floor or your workbench will ultimately end up in what you’re working on as well but it’s true. Keep up the great work, God bless you, I pray for your success, and look forward to seeing what’s ahead. Oh, by the way, you may want to consider some sort of guard posts by your electrical panel. Otherwise it’s just a matter of time before it gets hit, but make sure not to block the required working clearance in front of the panel.

Congrats on your new shop. You give excellent advice and a great attitude. I am 75 years old and worked as a mechanic for cars, trucks, gas and diesel basically anything I could make money and I too love a challenge. I worked on farm equipment, water drilling machines and one time a diesel locomotive for a local railroad line. After twenty years of working many long hours with many older mechanics to learn my craft I decided it was time to open my own shop. I bought some land and had a shop built to my specs for mostly over the road trucks and trailers mostly diesel since I was very close to an interstate highway. I borrowed money from the bank against my house on a second mortgage so I know well how it feels at first. It takes at least five years to be successful to the point of not worrying as much about making payroll etc. I had some good mechanics but sometimes there are mistakes which can be costly. There is always the temptation to have the latest and greatest tools especially diagnostics and this was back in the 80's when we were just really getting into electronics on cars and trucks. We didn't have the internet so I had to find books or any literature that would make me more knowledgeable. Your demeanor and attitude reminded me so much of myself. I tried to treat my customers fairly but many times that came back to bite me. The best advice I could give you is to keep your overhead as low as possible which will mean instead of buying a fancy OTC gismo figure out how to make something that will work or borrow from another mechanic. Talk to the owners in your area who have been around for twenty years or more and try to make friends of them so they will let you pick their brains. When you have a decision to make that you are not familiar then give them a call for suggestions or advice. Grey beards are worth their weight in gold. Ensure that you labor rates are competitive with others in your area. Don't try to undercut their labor because labor wars benefit no one and the established shop can probably outlast you. Continue to use your KZfaq blog to sell your self and your shop but you need to mentor and train another mechanic to do some as well. If you are already using a brand such as Snap-On or Amico and they want to sponsor why not let them. You will need all the help you can get. Finding good mechanics has always been a big problem especially when it comes to electrical/electronics. The good ones are employed and are payed very well so poaching is not easy nor is it appreciated by the other owner. Try to get good ones out of high school and tech training schools and mentor them. I always paid them by the hour because piece or flat rate induces them to rush which is when mistakes are made. The customers will want to talk to you so you will find you are just one person and you can't watch your folks all the time. Get the folks working for you involved and participating in shop decisions and allow them to criticize if they want. Bottom line is to keep your overhead as low as possible at all time because overhead to profit and you have to look at all equipment purchases as potential loss of profit if it is not used and making money as much as you thought. Don't be afraid to cut your losses or admit you were wrong because unfortunately that is how we learn the best. When I used to teach I always told the mechanics if I stress something it is because I screw it up and I don't want them to do the same. I went to my doctor for a bad cough and congestion years ago and I ended up going back to him several time for new medications to fix me. He knew I owned a auto/truck repair shop and I told him if I worked on the carburetor (remember those) and he left my shop and still had issues he would expect me to fix it for free each time thereafter so why should I have to pay him when I was not fixed the first few times. He said it was because he has to work on someone that has moving parts so it was more difficult. I told him I work on my engine that are running and he has only two models and they have not changed in thousands of years. I have many different models and each year there are newer with improvements which dictate new tools and methods. He didn't disagree and I still had to pay him but he got my point. Please be careful with your health because stress and anxiety is bad for a person. I was told by a smart man once when I was stressed, ask yourself if anyone will die if I don't get this done and if the answer is no than it is not the most important problem. Good luck to you and I hope you do very well.

Congratulations!!! I'd like to know how you will recruit, find and hire good mechanics to work for you. With a workshop that big how many income generating workers will you need? It's a big step going from world class mechanic to world class automotive maintenance and repair business.... Keep focused and positive.. in a year's time you'll look back and laugh.... Yes I've been through that great leap myself..not in the automotive sector but I'd advise you to do 10 minutes of fast exercise, like jumping jacks before you start every morning, lunchtime and to end your working day. Sounds dumb but you need to shake off the tension.

It's easy. Pay well, provide a first-class atmosphere, not just physically, but mentally and have everything a world-class tech could want. He's done it. He will have no problem hiring top talent. Who wouldn't want to work here?

@@thooks1234 hey thooks... That's how to keep good people.. I was wondering how he's going to find them. To avoid bad feelings I'm sure he's not going to hire from his previous shop... Finding good compatible technicians can be time consuming and if you make a mistake getting rid of them can involve lawyers. When I started my first business it took me a while to realise my core activity was hiring the right people until I had a big enough pool of employees to be able to use some (really just a few) of their personal recommendations. It was a tough tough first year ... I was borderline going out of business at the end of every month... After three years I could breathe easier and even took a couple of weeks off. All the best.
