Yes, my mother-in-law also was a Bible thumping. You know person literally told her kids straight out. I’m not leaving you anything all of my inheritance is going to the church who does that to their children and when they did pass away sadly my mother-in-law father-in-law and my father all passed away in one year Pandemic, they left my ex and his brother nothing and because they had moved out of state their sister who lived with her forever because she had her first baby at 16 which happens I understand that and I do not blame her for helping her daughter, but she’s not anymore. She is a grown adult as our her children, I mean her youngest daughter owns her own house her own car everything they are not dependent on her anymore, but she is now entitled to everything. I mean I’m not a huge fan of my ex but I don’t think he deserves that.

Nor do my children who got basically nothing from her, my daughter wanted a two dollar notebook from Walmart to go back to school with because it had that like glitter sequins on the front that you run your hand back-and-forth on and it changes color and she wouldn’t buy it for her because then she would have to buy one for herother granddaughter so you can spend four dollars on them at Walmart when you’re both retired. Have plenty of money have no house or car payments no debt you can’t buy your two granddaughters a notebook that is what pushed me over the edge. That was the point I never spoke to them again.

This mother is a nightmare. She’s being very inappropriate. Her son is a grown man. Respect that. Good, bad, or indifferent, allow him to make his own choice, choose his own path. If you don’t, you will lose him. To the son: stay close to your daughter, support your parents in having a strong, loving relationship with your daughter, and never make her choose sides. How you teach and “discipline” your daughter borderlines on being abusive. You need good parenting skills. Read up and learn because her life and your relationship with her depend on it. Making her scrub the toilet, doing chores, pouring water on her head is punishing, not teaching. What you did will in fact teach her to hate chores, and that you can physically bully her just because you’re bigger and stronger. To fiancé: you’re a well educated lady, stand up and protect his child and don’t allow him to humiliate that child in the name of teaching her. Support him on learning to become a better parent and stay involved in that child’s life. I’d take a high road when it comes to your relationship with his parents. Take a deep breath and forgive, forgive, forgive, because you’re younger and understand better. You don’t have to love them, but try your best to always be courteous, kind and respectful to his folks, not because they deserve it, but because that’s who you are.

They don't just talk to the ex. They treat her like she's their daughter. When she's getting a free vacation and their own son has to pay for a hotel, you know that they are a little too close to the ex.

Yeah but too bad, if the son can obviously choose who he has a relationship with, so can the parents. everyone's an adult, he cant get possessive over them either, as "His parents shouldn't associate with X" and anything they do, then get annoyed because his mum goes "my son shouldn't associate with Y"

This is the reason people who don’t have children have to be careful about dating people with children because the situations will always be a little different from the usual, and everyone in the family may not take you guys relationship seriously, but the up side is they love their grandchild.

The mom is obviously nutty and unreasonable. BUT the new girlfriend had the opportunity to be cast in a good light just by being quiet and polite and she couldn’t do it. A couple comments didn’t need to be said, like “his daughter is built just like her mother”. Criticizing a little girl isn’t helping your cause. I think everyone involved is resentful, including his new gf.

Yeah Hannah is a real peach, bragging the little girl never did whatever they made her clean the toilets for again after they made her do it ( he denied it too so which one of them is lying I bet it is not her). Both of their treatment of the grandchild was borderline abusive. The mother loves the granddaughter’s mom and feels like they would have married if the friend of her granddaughter’s mother would not have gotten in the way. I imagine his friend was hurt too, and she probably had known him a long time as well. Hannah and the son deserve to be humiliated like the did to the little girl. It’s horrible.

As was not made real clear, I gather that Ryan and the mother of his daughter were never married. If Ryan's mother is so bent out of shape because Hannah is his friend's ex, and thinks that God has a commandment against her son and Hannah getting together - I am mystified. Wasn't the mother of her granddaughter and Ryan breaking a commandment that God has? Where is her condemnation concerning that? She is a hypocrite and God has things to say about that, too. She needs to seek professional help.

What? Good grief lady. Support your son! If this is the girl he chose then just support his choice! Why reject your own child for something like this? I cannot imagine! I have 8 sons and I would NEVER reject them for their choice in romantic partner. I may not “like” one or another, but it isn’t my choice! It’s their choice and my only option is to accept or not, and as their mother I will always accept them regardless of their choice in partner. This is what children with narcissistic mothers have to go through. Her first and primary worry was being perceived by the audience as a ‘bad person’.. “it matters to me how I come across “, NOT the relationship with her son. Her second worry was that she “raised her son in a godly home” and he doesn’t share the same morals as her. Instead of diverging into his own person deciding his own morals, she wants him to be a replica of her and if he doesn’t carry all her morals then it’s a personal attack. This woman is the definition of victim mentality and needs therapy or risks losing her son forever. Saddest part is the complete lack of awareness of her behaviour.
