@codger4769 2 ай бұрын
@@annemariegerun7955 I Preface by saying I'm just a lay catholic, one should consult the "Cathecism of the Catholic Church" for a deeper, fuller treatment of the topic. Veneration is to hold in the highest honor and esteem. Saints are venerated as they lived as exemplary christians, in their service to Christ in their lives. They are spiritually inspirational. The Blessed Mother is especially honored and respected as she is the mother of Christ, and having strong intercessory influence with Our Lord (John 2:1-5). Worship is the total, unreserved, free will acknowledgement that God the Father is the only source of Love and Truth and we joyfully submit ourselves to his will as his servants, to the best of our abilities, assisted by his grace, to live and love in service to Christ, as Christ taught us.

If you pray to Blessed Mother with or without a representative object then you commit idolatry to God. Also when you have replace Jesus with a high priest (which there shouldn't be any more, as Jesus is the Highest of all and no other) like a pope who has authority over the scriptures to decide and interpret as he pleases then you commit spiritual adultery to Jesus who is the only true authority to forgive any sin and gives you clear as water commandments on how to be saved and worship God.

I think you're on the right track pearl I used to be an atheist but became Christian about 5 years ago don't let the haters dissuade you. from what I gather the denomination is irrelevant as long as you believe christ died in your place hung on that tree and that his subsequent resurrection is proof that your sin debt to God is paid as long as you turn from sin and trust him with your life his spirit will lead you to the understanding you need. I hope God keeps you well. Glad to have a rational woman online to listen to
@Bristecom
@Bristecom 17 күн бұрын
Agreed, but if you believe you have to turn from your sins and work to stay saved, then Christ didn't really save you. His blood covers ALL sins: past, present, future. But we try not to continue in sin and obey Him because we love Him and trust Him that he knows what's right for us, like we would with a good/wise father. You have to truly believe/trust/have faith that God really did pay for ALL of your sins, otherwise you're still somewhat relying on yourself/your works, and that's not acceptable to God (Matthew 7:22-23 KJV). God's ultimate will is for us to believe (John 6:40 KJV) and many have been saved without works (Romans 4 KJV) but at the same time He knows most will also do good works because we are the elect that He could foresee would believe and obey out of gratitude and love and the spirit of God (Holy Spirit).

Interesting how you always bring in your dad Pearl: clearly you respect him a lot and he taught you many things. This is a big reason why you have so much common sense: dads are instrumental in daughter's education. Good for you!
@Kitofthearts
@Kitofthearts 2 ай бұрын
Common sense is only available a percentage of the whole of time, that people are given or have earned in life. Common sense can be agreed between two people in room of twenty, but common sensibility can be influenced or manipulated by the behaviour patterns or speech of trustworthy, people in an inner circle too. In the marriage context, many surround a couple. A paternal family, who share a common sensibility, can vet & grant permission to both the courting male & female. Then, both can to manage to learn independently of each other, until they can support each other. Without being directly observed. Only in the last 50 to 100 years, has it been possible for a couple to live together, outside of the parental influence & community, during the 'boyfriend or girlfriend' phase. I think that this is the point that Pearl is trying to make?

As a man, I believe "men are representatives of God on earth" is more of a RESPONSIBILITY rather than a grandiose compliment. Because that means men MUST show discipline, abstain from temptation, stand up for what is right even in the face of overwhelming opposition and stay true to their purpose. It is not enough for men to become leaders. Men must first become good by conquering the evil inside them and then become leaders. That is the secret ingredient to a good strong society. Money & women are both good followers but bad leaders. I think the proverb, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" was aimed at women leaders (who intentionally avoid consulting men). Whether it is the metoo movement, entertainment/movie industry, dating market, etc. wherever women have gotten more power & authority, things go to sh*t

No. The Garden was huge... God told Adam to "keep the garden" in other words, work. Eve was there as his helper, for “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” The serpent had to wait till she was away or far enough for him to approach Eve. Last thing... my assumption only, but I don't believe Cane is the son of Adam.

"Religion" is the interpretation of God by humanity trying to understand who the Devine Creator is and what He is like and what rules he has set for us. Science proves a Devine Creator exists as much as it has proven the earth isn't flat. That said some people still believe the earth is flat. We humans aren't perfect and many versions of the Bible and it's stories exist. Some interpret it as literal and most understand it isn't intended to be a literal factual historical account as that often doesn't stand up to scientific scrutiny. Nonetheless the lessons humanity has learned about God's intentions, rules and plans for us that have been deduced and constructed over thousands of years of living are contained within it and provide the best foundation for understanding Him we have. Ie, the Judeo-christian interpretation of God is the "best", most studied and tested version. This process is actually scientific and will often stand up to scientific experimentation. Ie, the 10 commandments, love thy neighbor as thyself, unalienable rights guaranteed by God are relatively superior and thus more true versus other religion's interpretations of God. Set up experiments where society follows these rules vs doesn't and see what happens. Communism with it's avoiding Judeo-christian unalienable rights and the 10 commandment laws for all citizens has failed every attempt. Sharia law as well is a totalitarian and oppressive, abusive disaster. Stay healthy and prepared.

There are core Christian doctrines, these can not change or be re defined, when or if they do, it leads to " Claimed Christians" as opposed to Real Christians. So what you say not only makes sense, but has been a reality since the beginning.

I think along the same lines as the Apostle Paul when he wrote that he was the chef of sinners. Because of my knowledge of the Bible and my relationship with God and the fact that I still sin as much as I do, I consider myself a worse sinner than all non-Christians and most Christians.

I believe that the decision to believe in God or not, and consequently which religion to follow or not, is the most important thing in life because ultimately, this belief or disbelief will be the guiding principle of your life and your most important decisions. That's why I think it's very important to dedicate time to investigate and study your faith with a deep and sincere desire to discover the truth (if you have received any by family tradition) or the beliefs that you consider worthy of delving into. I was born Catholic by family and cultural tradition (my country is predominantly Catholic), but from a certain age, I needed to forge my own path and find the answers for myself. And there is no shortcut to that. If your belief in God is truly serious and important to you, you will take this path sooner or later; otherwise, you will remain in superficiality. Regarding my experience with Catholicism, I did not find the answers so easily. Most people did not know how to give reasons for their own faith. I found a lot of sentimentality, historical and doctrinal ignorance among the churchgoers, even among the priests, which is immensely depressing and sad. But the answers to all these questions have existed for a long time. Veneration of the Virgin Mary, the saints, etc., everything is very well-founded and explained, in a logical and rational way, and it is not so difficult to understand, it is actually quite simple. You just have to genuinely want to know. After studying and practicing my religion, I can say that, despite the drawbacks (which are many), I have no doubt that true and only salvation is found in the Catholic faith. The advice I give, whether to follow a belief or reject it, is this: study the subject deeply. Don't rush, but study; seek primary sources, read the main books, study the main arguments for and against, confront the ideas, see what the main and most recognized thinkers within that religion say. In Catholicism, we have great and brilliant intellectuals and apologists who delve into topics and doubts you haven't even thought of. After patiently seeing all this, make your decision. No one loves what they do not know. And last but perhaps even more important, seek to practice this faith, even if you do not yet believe 100%. Participate, seek to have some friendship with those whom you judge to be the most correct and honest in your faith. Practice and living with those who have been walking this path seriously for longer than you is essential.

What is it that makes you so certain that only catholics have salvation?
@danilokenobi
@danilokenobi 2 ай бұрын
@@JP67 I said that salvation is in catholic faith, not that only catholic have salvation. There is a difference. When I said that I was referring about the sacraments and Jesus himself. I believe, as Catholic Church teachs, that everyone that is save in the end is saved by Jesus that’s present in all means in Catholic Church (his word, teachings, presence etc.) I would like have more space to explain better this subject, but here in the comments section is impossible. And to understand this better is important as well understand what we (Catholics) mean when we spoken “Church”. Church for us is not only the human institution or the places we have the mass, but is something that involve the own mistery of the presence of Christ in this world. I am sorry any misunderstanding, I did not want to say that Catholics is some kind of “chosen people”. And also English is not my first language, so explain this in other language, in a short space like that is difficult. There are a lot of content about this subject in English, try to look something from Bishop Robert Barrow, Peter Kriffet, I guess they may talk about this subject, much better than me. Thanks

Regarding your concerns with Christian vs Catholicism. You are right. NOWHERE does the Bible say, or even PERMIT us to worship or pray to ANYONE else but the Father. Read the entire New Testament, you will not see one apostle talk about Mary, let alone say we should pray to her or worship her. As to the reading of the Bible. of course God wants us to read HIS word to US. The problem of the modern church getting all woke is NOT because they all read the Bible for themselves, but rather it's because so few do. The Bible preaches directly against most of what is done in modern churches today, but because most Christians don't read the Bible AT ALL, except when the pastor directs them to a verse or two during the sermon, they are easily led astray, they have no clue how unbiblical their beliefs are. I've read the Bible everyday almost my entire life, and I can tell you that the Holy Spirit WILL quicken a verse to your mind when someone speaks error. He will also quicken it to your mind when something in life pops up, or a person has a question about life, be it personal or what's going on in the world. I was taught the Three-legged stool analogy in my faith. A three-legged stool or a tripod is THE most stable platform as it doesn't require a perfectly flat surface or all legs to be exactly the same length to prevent wobbling. The three legs to the Christian faith and keeping a solid relationship with Christ is, Time in the Word, Time in Prayer and Time in Fellowship with the Saints. Keep all three legs solid and it will keep you from error in false teaching(reading the word), keep your relationship with Christ intimate and not stale(time in prayer) and keep YOU from going off into the woods(Fellowship with the Saints) We need ALL three. Few do it.

Catholics do not worship Mary. You should know that if you claim to Catholic. Catholics honor Mary because she is the mother of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ gave us Christians his mother while he was dying on the cross. He said behold your mother. God commands us to honor our father and mother. Because Mary is also our mother. We are commanded to give honor to her.

Most denominations in the "Abrahamic" religions end up either worshiping their prophet (Jesus/Mohamed/Ezra?), or some "scholar" that has studied religion all their life, so they MUST know everyting and we must follow them blindly right? (WRONG!). The more "devout" Muslims would never admit that they worship Mohamed, but when you see their actions, there is no other way but to describe what they do as worshiping the prophet! Oh brother😓exactly what God told them NOT to do in the Quran! Sigh...

You are right about the natural order. Growing up as a catholic I asked myself the same questions. The key is to ask God. I left the catholic church because they never told me that it is possible to get an answer from him in this life. As for Mary. According to the bible it is not allowed to speak with people who already died. There is also a strong emphasis on praying to God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) only. Even the angels refuse to be worshipped. Bless you Pearl. You are an honest and logical thinker, brave enough to speak about your convictions.
