Likely by starting with a toy or some other object and getting a baseline “hold” command, then working up to more valuable toys then treats and high value foods like chicken and cheese. It’s a long process and requires quite a bit of trust for a dog to not only not immediately eat a high value reward but to also drop it

He is the most adorable dog.. they are so loveable... I tell my dog to hold and review and he just eats it all...I cannot bare to see videos with Goldens. I want to run out and buy a dozen.. We have a golden mix mongrel and while he is not a full golden he is so full of personality and so loveable.
