I really like how you captured the bolt.

That's a really nice solution! It's a bit ironic how much effort the manufacturer spent on precision, but totally missed out on the clamping device. My similar Chinese made vices have an arrangement with springs that prevent the block from dropping out of the grooves (there is a picture on ArcEurotrade). It also pushes the jaw back when the screw is loosened. But it can still be accidentally unscrewed, or maybe worse, be engaged a few threads only. One have to learn to read the angle of the screw cap. :-)

Very well done; I look forward to making this change to my little vise for the exact same reasons.

Hello mr. uphoff, i have a question about this design you made. is it with that design only possible to clamp the big cube or can you now also clamp small parts like a 6mm paralell and dont have any problems ? i have the same type of vise and mine does the exact same problems! and i was also thinking the rotation of the anker is the problem aswell the screw lengh !

Yes, the vice can be closed completely and you can therefore clamp very thin workpieces with it.
