In this video, I share all the lenses I own for the Fuji X-T3 and include some images I've shot with each one.
As a portrait and commercial photographer, each lens has a specific role in my workflow. Most of my client work involves model tests, headshots, and lifestyle/personal branding.
I also share my thoughts on one of my favorite lenses, the Mitakon 35mm f/0.95, a lens that put me on the map in the Fuji community a few years ago after I wrote an Amazon review on it and shared some images I took with it in the Fuji Facebook communities. I still shoot with that lens to this day!

Awesome video! I saw your review of the Mitakon last year actually and it was your images and insight that made me get the Mitakon! Interestingly, I have all the lenses you mentioned and for pretty much the same reasons! Thanks for all the advice and suggestions:)

The 56/1.2 is gorgeous and I am so glad I found a used one. Might get a zoom. For studio I am all Nikon, so I am hesitant to invest in Fujifilm glass past street shooting and environmental and walk around shooting. Great video!

Kevin Kleitches Nope. The lenses don’t perform as well. One observation that I have is that shooting into the light or sun causes my Fuji X lenses to wash out the subject and kill the contrast. I don’t know the technical terminology, but it’s darn near unusable! Where my Nikkor 70-200/2.8 will make that same lighting look fantastic. I am not sure I would switch to mirrorless Nikon at this point, but if I were to go mirrorless full frame, that’s the plan. No need for it. My D850 has been the best investment yet. The 70-200 is the next one. Those two are killer portrait tools. My short lens favorite is the Sigma Art 50/1.4. At 45MP, the Sigma and the 70-200 are the sharpest best performing lenses I own. I love the new Nikkor 105/1.4, but >100mm I am not shooting wide open for bokeh. Even f5.6 works fine.

Thanks for this, Kevin : My opinions are : The 35 f/2 is nifty sharp and WR but has too much distortion ; big flaw - 23 f/1.4 has a nice sparkle to it and does tell a story - 56 f/1.2 very good especially on newer bodies - 16-55 f/2.8 the best zoom in my opinion / pro look to everything from wide to tele - Mitakon 35 f/0.95 never tried it but I like the idea of manual focus... very good tip to shoot in B&W, and correct focus technique... well done ! As to the other lenses one of my best is the Zeiss 32, and also the nifty 50 f/2, and above all the astounding 16mm f/1.4 is a winner !!

Roland Herrera Thanks for watching, Roland! You know, I never thought the distortion was that bad at all with the 35mm f/2, but I just looked it up and it seems a ton of people take major issue with it. That’s crazy! I sort of just assumed distortion is always going to be a thing, especially as you go wider, but it seems the 23mm f/1.4 has very little distortion despite it being wider than the 35mm. You learn something new every day.

@@kevintitus My pleasure. RE: The 35 f/2 distortion issue : It usually is not a problem 85% of the time... but just when you get a nice portrait and see your subject's egg shaped head (this will not happen if you keep it centered) it can be infuriating as you usually have to discard the picture.... pity but when you never know when the "issue" will strike !!

You're probably all in on the GFX now, but the 1.4 version of the 35mm is amazing - I miss that lens! And the 56mm

David Howell I’ve heard great things about the 35mm 1.4! But you’re right, if I’m going to get a 50mm equivalent now, it’s going to be the 63mm for the gfx. 😁

Thank you! I actually bought the 16mm a couple of years ago but sold it so I could get the 16-55mm instead. I love that the 16-55mm gives me the wide angle that I need but lets me enjoy the versatility of a zoom. I've thought about getting the 50-140mm many times but always held back because I wanted to get on while it was on sale. But for some reason I've never pulled the trigger on it, haha.
