Once in a while I sometimes shoot Digital. I purchased this lense since it has similar qualities as film, but I realized over the years Im shooting more film...oh no and less digital and this lense started to gather dust and I thought it was time to move in life....
Typically I dont make much on Digital Contents since this is a film channel however everyone has this moment in life where they purchased a lense *film/digital but after using it for extended period of time it wasnt the CHOSEN ONE...as in the lense we really wanted since they way we shoot the way we see that world/ or needs shifted and as time passed I realized that this lense was one of the lenses that I had to end of up giving up on since I seldom used it.
And because its rainy season in Japan *where film doesnt perform that great i brought this lense out of the dry cabinet and shot around the Art Aquarium around Ginza Matsuya /rooftops which they do once per year limited for one month.
FYI Rainy Season in Japan spans across end of May to July so...im stuck in home.

*I also later found uploading this video that Kamlan is releasing a whooping 70mm F1.1 (105mm equiv) soon For X Mount....

Thanks again for another interesting video. loved the Art Aquarium, very beautiful! I have one lense in my collection I have not used in 3 years that I have been thinking of selling but I have not yet found anything else photography wise I am interested in buying yet. I am retired so my budget is limited and I will only sell it when I feel there is some new I want. But so far I have been happy for the last two years so I will wait a while yet. But yes if it isn't being used then I agree time to change to something that will be used.

Ur welcome glad to mention Art aquarium only happens once per year in Tokyo and where super high speed lenses and digital can achieve results something film cameras could never dream of but by understanding how shallow depth of field does affect image quality and overall perspective. I personally think although I will end up selling it, it gave me a valuable lesson of how lenses evolved over the course of years ever since cameras were invented. Sometimes the vintage glasses offer this speck of gem although unpolished becomes polished after later in life.

It's incredible how quickly the photography landscape can change in just 5 years. I picked up the MK I version of this lens back in 2018 for Micro Four Thirds. Back then, f/0.95 was already rare, but if you consider what it brought to the table for MFT, it was a must-have lens in a very affordable package (around 300 USD). There was nothing like it at the time, as 7Artisans, TTArtisans and the others hadn't come on the scene yet. I know it wasn't the sharpest, but boy did it have a lot of character. I loved it so much, I made it my primary lens. I've since sold it after switching to Fuji, but I only just found out that there was a MK II version, and was curious to see what improvements were made to it. Kind of a bummer the company doesn't seem to be doing well these days. Anyway, thanks for making this video. Watching it felt like I was finally bidding a proper farewell (at least vicariously) to my old favorite lens.

Thanks for input really love this lense when it came out yeah Zhongyi Mitakon unfortunately became overshadowed by TTartisans and 7artisans but they were the ones who kinda said manual focus lense shouldnt be expensive and paved their way into that sector and I have to admit that price point was really attractive back then and it's also insane to see TTartisans with lense under 100$ like the 25mm F2 and 50mm F2 The MK2 from what I see is sharper but if I'm right the weight increased along with the price so for some it might be above the budget.

Yeah, sounds like Mitakon really shot themselves in the foot. I don't think even they ever imagined selling manual lenses for that cheap. They totally got undercut in their own game, but I have to admit it is nice to see how competitive this range is.

TT artisan and 7artisans have 50mm/35mm 0.95 the competition is fierce But what's intersting Voigtlander started making X mount lense they are expensive but still sits in the high end so they will probably survive @@sudokujones8922

Cool video! Loved the filming and photos of the event. I agree with the philosophy of selling unused equipment. Though I don't see myself following it XD I rarely if ever use my Samyang 12mm f/2.0, but I hold on to it for my dream of doing astrophotography... some day...

I'm a hobbyists, I use and collect Film Cameras but mostly shoot digital and save film for special trips. I do have equipment I haven't used in a while. Like Fuji 645 since I got a 6x9 but there are and will be times I want the extra frames and the smaller lighter foot print. I made mistakes in the past of selling camera/ lenses and later on feeling like I made a mistake and really want to buy things I've sold previously. So now because I am a hobbists and I've rounded out my equipment to cover my shooting style and subjects so I'm not really looking for new things any more but I will buy random weird things like a Canon FD 500mm f8 Reflex lens because it was pretty cheap and I had a space in a camera bag, but my ADD OCD maybe change my mind later...

Thanks for commenting :) 😄 Film cameras typically even if you don't use it since the supply is decreasing it might be worth holding onto since the value will probably go up in long run... And selling and buying gets harder especially on film side since there's not many left over while for digital there's tons....

@@RM.TokyoPhotographer FD is the old SLR Cannon mount, the FD 500mm f8 is a Mirror Reflex lens, like a baby telescope, so its pretty compact and super light.

Hi Ryo-san, Another great video-within-a-video with superb still images. I have an Olympus OM1 system with various lenses and two more camera bodies that hasn’t been used for years but I’d rather keep them than sell them for a fraction of their original cost to a dealer. I’ll make a point of using them soo.! May I suggest that you check-out your unwanted lens at various apertures for resolution and image artefacts (using a test pattern) because you will probably find a sweet-spot where the lens performs at its best that is not with aperture wide open? This lens may well perform at its sweet-spot better than any other lens in your collection. [By the way, this is my third week in England. Superb weather but thunderstorms are forecast! Relatives have given me two old film cameras (35mm & 127 for which I’ve found fresh film).] 73 Barrie

Glad to hear your having a blast in England Tokyo is blazing 🔥 but yeah the sweet sport for this lens is about F2.8~F4 but although this lense performed really well stopped down I found it hard for me to use it constantly over the years and yes it is a marvel to see a made in China product to perform so well and as I progress as an Artist/Photographer I found it less likely to use this lense in my situation. And instead picked up a lense that's lighter and more portable which I favor alot in coming years. The Olympus system is really unique similar to 127 and 110 format where the camera bodies are super small and portable.... Ironically I picked up a 110 camera earlier today and my procrastinating have kicked in and I have too many ideas videos to make but time is limited facepalm....

I still get a kick out of processing my own film (but usually don’t have the time as 35mm labs are still around in Australia) but I may have to process the 127 colour film! How will you go with 110 format?
@RM.TokyoPhotographer
@RM.TokyoPhotographer Жыл бұрын
@@IanEgerton-ud4pk unfortunately I actually dont have any experience processing 110 film in home, since i recently purchased a 110 camera (I knew that a couple of locations in Tokyo can do it for me so and started to get my feet wet in that area...still a beginner along with my mind is still blown from the 110 cartilage shape LOL..... but I hear that 110mm since the typical paterson tank reel can accept only 35mm/120 there are ppl who tried to shave off the reel to make it shorter (width) but I hear there are problems regarding reeling it onto in a dark bag....sighs in corner in my case after I get it processed (I will have to try scanning it on a typical 35mm scanner plustek but because there is gonan be space in between since the negative is considerably smaller I might have to cut a thin acrylic paper to diffuse the light coming through the sensor....havent tried but will somehow manage it :D

@@RM.TokyoPhotographer By the way, many years ago, I tried successfully to process B&W 35 mm film INSIDE its cassette! Agitation consisted of using a wooden peg to unwind and rewind the film constantly while the loaded film cassette was completely submerged in processing chemicals for the required time! I don’t think I’d get good results with colour firm but maybe you could try that technique with 110 B&W film or else (particularly for colour film) processing in a dish (seesaw action) may suffice……..

did the MItakon 35mm f.95 MK2 able to resolve the 40mb sensor on the XT5 you think?
@RM.TokyoPhotographer
@RM.TokyoPhotographer 9 ай бұрын
That's a hard question I would say Yes and No ...since the Camera since it has more megapixel ppl might say it does but I would say not to the extent of the Modern Lense like the Fujifilm 33mm 1.4 which IMHO have a clear/more resolving due to modern lense othan the Mitakon. The Mitakon is more towards the art type of area everything is not sharp but for some ppl it might be. More like personal preference although it was great to shoot it's similar to a Art lense from Sigma heavy like a tank but yield great results.
