Tomb Raider remasters are just around the corner so let's refresh our skills a bit.. By playing 5 of the hardest levels in Tomb Raider III (at least in my opinion) Because, why not? Let's throw some controllers into the walls out of the frustration, shall we?

Aldwych lives rent free in my head. The main thing making it hard is not being able to see shit eventually i just upped the brightness and gamma on my screen and it wasn't so bad. The bit i got stuck in was not realising i had to go back to the drill room and climb above it.

Yes. It was the same with me the first time. Didn't know you have to revisit the drill to get the first key

Between the brightness settings and a walk through it was barely possible. Despite the unbelievable difficulty this game was the one of the best of it's generation.

That room is actually worse than advertised. If you don't stand on a specific tile as you ascend back up, the drill above you never becomes solid and you can't walk over it for the key. You can softlock the game this way and will be unable to progress. Happened to me on an all-secrets run and ended my run lol

same here. after i read in walkthrough i found it very hard even to find that place (drill room) again as i was on opposite side of level and kinda forgot where i have to go. absolutely madness of level

I had never completed TR3 when I was young. So I decided to give it a bash on the remasters. I loved India, I loved Nevada, I loved the Pacific Islands. I’m now on the London levels and I’ve put the game down for months! I hope I enjoy Antarctica more.

Tomb Raider 3 might be tough as nails but I love the game so much including each and every single one of its levels (except all hallows and I still need to familiarize myself with the expansion stages a bit more) even some of the harder levels like Madubu Gorge, Aldwych and Lost City of Tinnos are some of my favorites. I consider the level Temple Ruins to be one of the best Tomb Raider levels of all time, I think the stage is just very well made and the atmosphere is the cherry on top! This game is my favorite game of all time!

I remember the pain of playing through tomb raider 3 without a guide - back in the day when it released, it was long before mass acceptance of the internet, and guides cost a fortune, and the magazines eventually released them in sections over many months, many months after the game had released. After I had completed the game many months after its release - I rarely went back and replayed it - it was that hard.

I was patiently waiting for the magazines back then. they would have the walkthrough written in parts so only then I was able to finish most of the levels. Without guidance - not a chance

@@kristijan893 They are tough games - but I must confess the remasters look like they are going to be an opportunity to play them on modern consoles. I have them downloaded on my switch, ready to challenge myself on how much I remember. This could be painful.

By far The Hardest Challenges of The Tomb Raider series are in TR3, that game will punish you , I thought TR 4 The Last Revelation was The Toughest But 3 is Equally Difficult, Luds Gate has mentally scarred me as one of The Hardest Levels in any Game

@@MichaelLynch1 I loved TR4 and hope it gets the same treatment as 1-3. I remember many of the levels in TR3 almost reducing me to tears. I also remember the relief of reaching the end.

yes but wasn't that the whole joy of TR? It feels so rewarding to finish a level. I also finished with the help of text walkthroughs, yet finding the route by yourself never gets old.

Funny! Aldwych, Madubu Gorge, Ruins temple and Lud's gate are my favourite levels from TR3 with all the Pacific part. I actually love the majority of the levels. When I was a kid I used to hate them, but not anymore.

Although Tinnos can be a bit frustrating sometimes, I still love the map a lot. The atmosphere is great, the mutant enemies are intimidating, the eerie soundtrack (down tuned version of the floating island song).

yeah the video author is confusing challenging with cryptic or obscure solutions. London levels are just the hardest ones with all the unfair mechanics

@@DarkMoePersonally I love the London Levels because of the platforming and puzzle solving. I absolutely hate Lost City of Tinnos though. I consider it to be the worst TR level ever made and I'm convinced no one can pass it with all secrets without a level guide.

I have been playing through TR 1-3 remastered edition. Almost finished with TR1 and then I'll be making a rage montage of TR 2 and 3 for sure. This video is a good refresher for the pain I'm about to experience. If you're interested in seeing me go crazy I'll let you know when they drop. Great video my friend.

TR in general is insane difficult and not transferable to modern days of casual gaming. It is literally almost impossible to solve without a strategy guide. My dad used to stay nights over nights on one level (even with a strategy book) nowadays the games tell you what to do and you can jump with a 5 seconds delay without any consequences back then it wasnt like that.

Aldwych stumped with me far more than Lud's Gate. Once your past its underwater section its not even that bad. But Aldwych can be a nightmare from start to finish. It may not have as many enemies as most other levels, but it's basically a huge maze with confusing puzzles, and is full of death traps. I've since grown to love that level, but I still remember just how exhausted I was when I played through it for the first time.

SO TRUE. great video. I cant even handle the controles. AAARGHHHHH bad ported game. Only die hard fans finished this trilogy game WITHOUT CHEATS. I had no patience. I used a save point to reach a health pack 😢

I finally finished Lost City Of Tinnos the other day! I always skipped it as a kid and I finally buckled down and finished it. It’s a lot more fun than I expected.

Back in the day, i managed to reach Antarctica without any guides. I don't mind about the secrets, i just want to clear the levels.

Wondeful stuff. I couldn't have got through Tomb Raider III without the guide, and even then I got softlocked on Lud's Gate as I didn't pick up the key...

You don't notice the diver drops the key, and then swim along the big tunnel. The current stops you from returning! @@kristijan893

Can't wait to see how the river in Madubu gorge will look like, as it's already so pretty in the original game! And, in fact, I do believe that a lot of levels are going to look amazing, most likely!

Just replayed 1 2 and upto Nevada Desert on 3 , yeah Luds Gate is The Toughest Level in Tomb Raider History for a 1st timer , Lost City of Tinnis is a close 2nd , TR3 is Gaming at its Most Brutal and Difficult , but we all love The Challenges 👌💯

Would you consider doing rankings, tier lists, or top 5 of: Tomb Raider locations (Maria Doria, London, Egypt, etc)? Lara's weapons? Hardest levels in series? Outfits?

I really enjoy your tomb raider reviews :) Do you think you'll review the dlc one day ? It's the gold editions for the first 3 TR games. The one from the third game is called "The last artifact" and for me it's like a tomb raider on its own with some of the best levels from the "classic Eidos" TR ;)

For me the most difficult phase of the game is the last phase of the Pacific Islands, that is torture, plus you have a boss that if he hits you one hit will kill you.

I really like London visual environment, but the difficulties ohh lord... especially Aldwych and Luds Gate. I think I will enjoy them levels a lot on the remaster

I agree there's something about those levels, maybe because I was born in London and The Tube was always a creepy place when desolate , I can't wait to play TR3

There is a pistols only, no medi packs, all secrets (+ all enemies) challenge.

@@kristijan893 Yes, I've done the first 4 classics, whils skipping some underwater enemies, that can't be killed with pistols. And not interested in modern TRs. You should try it.

@@kristijan893 With exception to the bosses, it's more tedious than difficult. Basically it requires knowing enemy placement and having the patience to slowly kill everything from a safe spot. It's much harder in TR2 with those laser accurate silenced pistol goons. Quick tip about that snake at 1:52, if you would have done a quarter turn and backhop into the wall right after you land they can't reach you.

This underwater yellow apparatus was really impossible to navigate. I did the same thing as you did, just left it and was swimming manually. The rest I can't remember very well as I played so many years ago (about 20). I still enjoyed that game a lot. And I did it on my own without any walkthroughs. So where is my medal? ☺ Nice video!

The plus side is that that vehicle has the light bolted on, so it's easier to see where you are going, but I would rather use flames and dive by myself instead haha. Well, you deserve the medal, I wish I have a real one to send it. I have a embroidered patch if you wish. It looks cool

@@kristijan893 I played the game on PC and not the light nor the harpoons were useful as I couldn't simply navigate and get anywhere. As for the patch yeah, I would love to see one in the next video. I'll even subscribe for that occasion. 😉

I feel TR 3 was them trying to bring back the TR 1 style but failed and made it harder. The only levels I can beat are a few of the Jungle ones, a couple of the South Pacific levels, one London level (City), and my personal favorite, which are all of the Nevada levels. Other than that, I stick to the first 2 games with TR 2 being my top favorite.

I guessed 4 out of 5 levels (I expected Thames Wharf instead of Madubu Gorge), but having in mind what you said about London levels, I almost got them all.

Thames Wharf can actually be beat in less than 2 minutes by taking a shortcut near where the first secret is located lmao

I didn't. Adobe premiere's rendering options can do the magic just as well. 4k 60fps, bitrate 100 and rendering at max. depth

Tomb raider 1&2 were the best of the ps1 series. Tomb raider three can burn in hell. I hate it. I never had fun or enjoyed playing it. Levels are too big with little to no hint where to go what to do. And the puzzles, poisoning system make me wanna dunk myself in acid. Fuck. Tomb. Raider. Three.

TR3 is a lot like having kids. I think it has some of the highest high points in the series, followed by some of the lowest lows.

You can get a canoe in the beginning of the level?! Did I get that right?! 😮😳

Yes. On the opposite side of the river on the right is the switch you need to press, and you need to climb back to the beginning of the level (the bats flying are the indicator where the hole is). Climb up that hole and descend into the pool where the canoe is

Well, Core Design ceased to exist. Eidos were the ones hold the right if I'm not mistaken.

Eidos gave TR to Crystal Dynamics after Angel of Darkness flopped hard, Core Design still tried to do the PSP version of Anniversary but Eidos preferred Crystal Dynamics' version of Anniversary

Idc what anyone says, if you played the games when they first got released and you say you figured a hard secret out by yourself; you're lying. I am replaying the first game and there are some secrets that I know wouldnt have been found without a guide.

I really HATE aldwych, I don't even understand how the level map works... it's so confusing! It was the only phase that I couldn't finish without external help For me, the worst level in the trilogy

Tomb Raider 3 is just too many time based challenges and too little exploration. And lots of places where you don’t naturally figure out what to do or where to go. Definitely the worst game in the trilogy. I actually skipped Aldwych for that reason.

TR3 is super unforgiving, but I prefer the levels trolling me to the hordes of gun toting enemies in TR2. The combat is just not designed for that shit. Let's see if 3 is still my favorite after trophy hunting in the remaster lol

Lud's Gate on PS1 is horrible. Lost city of Tinnos is too big and boring.

I finished it in new game plus mode following Footi's walkthrough (no crystals, all secrets... !!!) And if the London part and also the levels that you cite are INDEED horrible, paradoxically the game becomes fun when you have solid game knowledge, but also proof of bad game design "if you ask me :p" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oa6KY9xk1NmmeaM.html&t What a weird Tomb Raider, I can't wait for 4 and 5 to arrive in remaster to give me an idea again even if I know that 4 shares the same faults as 3
