When you have an unexpected c-section you can feel defeated or like something is wrong with your body but in most cases that's not true! The more you are informed about what is in your control and know your options, the greater your chances for successful VBAC.
I'm sharing my VBAC journey, changes I made that gave me the confidence to a successful VBAC birth. I hope it helps you.

I soooo loved this. Thank you so much for sharing this story. I also had a C-section for my first birth. I am (now 2nd pregnancy to term) supposed to give birth end of June/4th of July. I have a new team: new Dr. doula and midwife, who empowered me too and I so feel your smuggle with your last Dr. Being told our pelvis is not fit is a horrible feeling. Birth is supposed to be a positive experience. Your story is one I will be thinking about in my birth for this BVAC, thank you Lorena :)

I had the same story .. for my first I pushed for an hour and little more. My daughters heart rate drop, head got swollen and ended up having emergency c-section. And now I am pregnant and hoping to have VBAC.

I'm so sorry this also happened to you. Unfortunately I had zero knowledge about labor positions and movement to help the baby come down- even with an epidural there are options. Highly recommend having a supportive doctor, seeing a pregnancy chiro and following accounts like @mamastefit on insta for helping/techniques on opening the pelvic bone and getting baby out. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I had a traumatic emergency c-section that now 10 months postpartum I still can’t accept. I’m hoping for a VBAC the second time around and hearing your story really inspires me! Could you share your doulas information or how exactly you located one? I’m in LA County and would like to hire a doula the second time around. Thank you
@LorenaBujard

I totally understand you. And definitely the more we know, the better prepared, surrounded by ppl/a team that wants the same as you makes a world of difference. Finding a doula is also very special AND you should connect- interview more than one and really ask them how they can help you. I also wanted a VBAC but didn't know anyone that could help me- professionally until really half way through my pregnancy I really was able to change that, get a new doctor, found my doula through instagram and my chiropractor was also soooo knowledgeable (he has a podcast that I super recommend: Dr Berlin's Informed Pregnancy).
@LorenaBujard
@LorenaBujard Жыл бұрын
Here are some instagram accounts that can help you find a doula: @kindredspacela, @monarcabirth, @birthworkersofcolor (if you go to this account you can see the doula's they follow). Also another pregnancy Chiro I recommend is @Focuschiropractic and they follow a lot of local doulas if you go to see who they follow. I recommend you reach out to 3 you like and see if one works out. Best of luck mama!!

Hey Lorena! My OB told me I need to wait at least 18 months to get pregnant again if I want to try a VBAC. I saw in another comment you got pregnant after 1 year and 4 months (16 months) after you had your C-section. Was that a problem on your BVAC? Did they mention something like this about it? Thank you.
@LorenaBujard
@LorenaBujard 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I was also told to wait 18 months but that I could start trying a couple months before that. The fear is that your tissue and muscles have enough time to heal to form a strong wall once more for your uterus in the next pregnancy and not have a rupture. The chances of a rupture are very very small in my research but nonetheless you don’t want to get pregnant too soon. I know I didn’t have any complications in my healing process, I was able to start running after 6-7 months and felt ready by 16 months to start trying. When I did get pregnant neither of my OBs seemed concern for a rapture nor did they mention it was too soon. Hope this info helps you! I also highly recommend “informed pregnancy” podcast for some more facts/experiences. Good luck mama!!

I would change OB ASAP if you can. Can I ask you what city you’re from. Are you in LA by any chance? I don’t know exactly if a “small pelvis” is an actual issue… I think that sounds bogus but I would consult another OB. Even if you are 8 months if you can find another doctor do it. I had a girl friend change OB at 8 months pregnant.

Thank you Lorena! I really appreciate you sharing your experience, especially from a Latina point of view. Could you share the weight, length of your babies? Mi biggest concern is that my first c section baby was over 8lbs and I’m little.
@LorenaBujard
@LorenaBujard 10 ай бұрын
Hi! It’s important to know our options and I’m glad this info can help someone. But in my heart of hearts I know it wasn’t because I was little or because there was something wrong with my body. My baby was “sunny-side up” and I had moved VERY little because of my shingles couple weeks before (was in bed rest) and the induction/epidural didn’t help with me getting movement to get this baby settle further down and position herself to come out. Do 100% movement, curb walking, squats, getting on all 4s from your sofa to reaching down to get baby moving into position. That worked for my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy. Getting adjusted too. I would say that if your body had no trouble dilating to 10cm then you can totally have a vbac. Find the right OB too, it’s never too late to change.Good luck mama!!!

Can't you scare about previous scar and what is the thickness of ur previous scar
@LorenaBujard
@LorenaBujard 2 жыл бұрын
I was definitely not prepared or informed about how big or how my scar would heal. I later learned that you should talk to your OB, let them know it's important for you to take it's time and leave you a nice scar. With time my scar thickness has reduced and it's appearance doesn't look bad. It's also pretty low so it doesn't show with a bathing suit for example.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply!! I don't think I can give you an answer because I don't know if you were induced or the reason why you had a c section in the first place to better advice you. I would seek out a 2nd doctor that advocate for vbacs or a doula and ask for their opinion bc they would most likely want you to have a vbac unless for x reason you really couldn't.

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! I had my 3rd baby 12 weeks ago and life has been busy with 3. My scar did not hurt at all while I was pregnant. However, between my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy I trained for a marathon and I remember I had a burning sensation when I removed my super sweaty clothes- probably happened like a couple of times and it itch a little. Not sure if you have done scar mobilization exercises or tissue desensitization but I recommend "expecting and empowered" IG account to learn more about caring for your c-section scar. It's never too late.
