Ah thank you so much Melanie, that's really kind of you. I've just seen you have an Amity Bloom kit, I'm saving that to have a look at later, I'm intrigued to see what beautiful things are in there and what you will create with it - it would be fun to try a no-dew journal :)

Oh thank you so much Sherry - I am really enjoying and appreciating all the hand-stitched pieces and using the beautiful fabrics and threads that stitchers before me collected. How lovely that you made an heirloom that will be treasured for generations to come! I would love to see a picture of it. It's wonderful to think that one day someone might enjoy my book in the same way. I've now decided I will embroider the names of the people I know about who created or curated all of these pieces :)

Wow, this is awesome! I'm going to have a go at those leaves for sure. Maybe I'll do an a-z of apple-zebra just in that beautiful cut out design. You're so inspiring 💗 I feel guilty watching this that a huge knotted bundle of threads went in the bin recently. I knew my patience wouldn't hold up to the task and it didn't occur to me anyone else would want the challenge. I still have a big box of threads to work my way through, I must offer any bundles elsewhere from now on. I'm also gutted that huge bundles of lace work went to charity, i couldn't see a use for it all. I did keep some, so perhaps will repurpose...... Sorting a hoarders house with a time scale gives you no room to think about things for long enough 😢. Thanks for another great video xx

Oh Yes!! that would be a fabulous project Shell, you could even let the cut-outs peek through to each other, or maybe add layers of colourful prints behind, ooh you've got my cogs turning again! :)

Your vintage stitchery book is so lovely! “A whipped backside” …almost stabbed myself with my needle and guffaw 😆 confirming the blanket stitch on the pouch is mine (from quite a few years ago). And you’re right the battenburg doily was from me - have never come across the batternburg “tape” though. The buttons weren’t from me though but are lovely! The braid stitch is tricky for sure. Cheers, Christine

Sorry for the late reply Christine, just realised I missed a whole cache of comments - how rude!! hehe yea whipped backside still makes me chortle. Ah I think the buttons may have been from Deb then, she sent me some from her Mum. I did try the braid stitch again, I think it's a bit easier in chunkier, less slippy thread, but it's not one I'll be doing a lot of! Looks so pretty when it's done right though, yours looked fab! If I ever find any battenburg tape I'll send you some - I guess it's unlikely we'll find any now though eh? :)

The braid stitch is beautiful but very hard to work with even though it's quite easy to execute. A stitch should hold itself together when handled but this one comes apart even while you're stitching! It is a very antique stitch which I believe was mostly worked with wool or thick coarser threads. These keep that naughty loose loop in place! Anything slick, like mercerized cotton or rayon isn't recommended in my opinion. If these are the only options, the stitch should be narrow, something below 1 centimeter. Good luck! 😊

Thank you so much for the advice, it wasn't just me then! I will try again in something like crewel wool - watch this space! :)
