I pray you are right about Erik Jones. I've rooted for every Petty car and driver since the King retired. I've been faithful to his teams throughout all the tough years, but last year was the hardest. I really hope to see Erik in the winners circle at least, even if it's after the cut line.

I actually agree on Gibbs. I did really want to put McDowell in tho and sacrificed the 6 to do it. It’s a long shot but I see McD winning at some point. Also keeping Bowman out seems wild to me, I put him in over Jones, I think that transition to Toyota is gonna be tougher than we think.

Bowman is the true wildcard, even as a fan, i don't really know what to expect from him, if he makes it, its off of a win... If he doesn't win, he doesn't make it

Suarez definitely has his moments! If his pit crew doesn't mess up he's in contention at the Indy Roval last year, and even if he still doesn't win that race he gains a lot more points than however he finished. He shows fight on every single track, that can't be denied. The question comes down to consistency- are you able to string that fight together week after week, or are you gonna be fighting for 20th every race? I have him making the 16th seed but as long as he shows he's competitive every week that's a win.

I agree with almost all these. Including Jones. Except I think that Briscoe and or Bowman gets back in this year. However, I'm not sure who I'd kick out. Probably one of those 7 Toyotas. I cant see 7 of the 8 toyotas making the playoffs and only having 5 Chevys and 4 Fords.

I've heard people say a lot of things about Kyle Larson, but I'm sorry calling his team the most complete team in Nascar is objectively wrong. He had 14 dnf's across both next-gen seasons. I can't deny that he has high highs, but his lows are lower than a lot of other top drivers. Look at how many wrecks/conflicts he's been involved in the last 2 two seasons. Justin Haley 2022 Clash, Kevin Harvick Daytona 500, Chase Elliot Fontana 2022, Kurt Busch Talladega 2022, Ty Dillon Indy Road Course 2022, Bubba Wallace Las Vegas 2022, Martin Truex Jr Homestead 2022, Ryan Preece Bristol Dirt 2023, Denny Hamlin 2023 Pocono. You can call him and his team a lot of things but being the most complete team is not one of them. People act like he wins 10 or more races and leads over 2000 laps every year like Petty or Pearson did in the 60s and 70s.

Bowman will make playoffs imo...also think Briscoe a good shot to make it. this means 2 of your picks won't make it and that's anyone's guess. Also feel you might get a bigger surprise out of Jones...he really does have the talent and with Toyota treating Legacy right, I agree with your opinions on him.

I always root for whoever drives the 43, and I really admire the way Erik Jones handled being unjustly dismissed from JGR, so for me he is a sentimental pick I won't ignore... I feel strongly that the 48 gets in, it's hard to pick against Hendrick...so that means either the 23 or 54 don't make it and for me the 23 and Bubba are just too much a question mark to pick, so...yeah...Ty Gibbs makes the playoffs... Other than that I think you nailed it...at least from a strictly statistical point of view...

This is a good list, but I would go Bowman over Erik Jones. Not because of the driver but because of the car. New season means every drivers get to reset. Not on LMS bandwagon yet. 😌

I can feel that this is going to be one crazy season. There’s going to be racing winning drivers that miss the playoffs. And for all we know, Zane Smith, Justin Haley, or Todd Gilliland could make things complicated.

Bubba’s big weakness is road courses where he hemorrhages points. He’s seemed to have improved and is going to boot camp before the season so hopefully he improves some more. Plus there are less of them this year in the regular season. He’s just kinda OK on the short tracks but does well enough to get points. He shines on the intermediates and plate tracks and I see him winning a race this year. He should have no problem making it into the playoffs. How far he makes it past that is 100% dependent on how well he does on road courses and short tracks and how well he improves leading up to then.

Bowman can create havoc with your picks here IF he comes out the gate swinging as he has done these past few seasons. He didn't win last season but started off really strong. The two years before that he won a race in the first few, thus locking him into the chase early on in both seasons. If I were to guess against any of your 16 picks it would be Eric Jones. I think there will be at least one winner not listed in your 16 and that guy will be in, (as happens every season--like in 2023 with the #34, and #47). But over all, your 2024 predictions are very safe and should hold up towards the end of the season review.

Although I am not a fan, the Ty Gibbs pick is solid. The kid has talent and drives for a great team. It is hard to argue with your picks, but racing is a funny sport, anything can and will happen.

I think Bowman makes it in and Bubba misses out barely. McDowell, Dillion, JHN, Stenhouse, and Briscoe all will be on the verge of making it in, but won't make it.

I agree with every one of your picks except Erik jones. But who knows how legacy motor club will do this year I definitely think they will be better. There’s just so many drivers that I think have just as much as a chance as him. I’m going to have to go with briscoe instead.

so, I am new to this sport, but I have been doing a lot of my own film study and reading stuff, so this might just be my underdog feeling kicking in and my lack of knowledge of the sport, but I am super high on Carson Hocevar making the playoffs, and potentially making it to the Round of 8. I think the kid is a stud and can drive the wheels off of any car for any manufacturer for any team. Don't chew my head off if I am wrong, but I just have a good feeling about the guy.

Yeah, he is good, but switching to Toyota and a lot of changes in Legacy will probably be almost like being in a new team, which is not good for him, so I guess he will finish in top 20, but not top 16. I would peak Suarez, he wasn't very good, but still good, he could still make it on points at Daytona, I think if he will improve just a bit, it'll be enough. If not Suarez, I think Hocevar or Briscoe. Hocevar was good at 3-tier Legacy, so I believe in him at Spire. And Briscoe was good that first part of the season and stopped being good right after the penalty, so I guess SHR just gave up on his 2023 season and stopped working on his results, but now he is main driver in the team, so...

The thing about Tyler....he never stops improving and constantly trying to gain an edge.

McDowell had an advantage when the new car came out. I don’t believe that exists now.

As a chase fan I think bowman will have a huge year this year if he is healthy he was leading the regular points standings before the penalty was applied to him and was really close to winning 2 of the first 4 races but I think all 4 Hendrick drivers will make the playoffs
