As a fellow PNW hiker who completed the AT in 2023, there is so much amazing community on the AT. Even if your far from home there are so many kind people up and down the trail that will drop everything just to help a random hiker. You might be far from home but never far from Family. Thru hiking will truly replenish your faith in humanity.

2023 AT Thru hiker perspective. The AT is about extremes. So many highs and lows that will force you to grow in many ways. And on Katahdin you will be so thankful you did it for all the friends and experiences you have. It changed me…

You got this! Dream big. There are a lot of people on the trail who will come in and out of your life helping you form a tramily to share your experiences. I am very grateful that you are sharing with us who will follow your journey. When the hard days come, remember we are cheering for you. Hike on Molly Rose.

I think you will do just fine. I sure you will meet a lot of nice and cool people. Also the trail angels are allways nice. Personally have done it my self. I drive like 2 and half hours up to Overmountain shelter in NC and camp there overnight. I have brought things up there. For AT thru hikers. People are thankful and to me its not a big deal. Im just some random guy that like to help. I wish could hike the AT but im just a day hiker. And a overnight camper. I have no idea how yall do the ultralight backpacking 😅 my bag comes in at like 30+ lbs. Lol even for one night 🤣 so no thru hikeing for me. But i love watching everyone doing it. Best of luck and looking forward to watching.

After watching your video, you seem to have the right mindset to deal with anything you may experience on the trail. I wish you the best and will be following your trip, as well as several other. I'm 70 years old and my time has expired to experience such an adventure, but I can at least I can see it through your lense. Good Luck and stay safe!!!

It's intriguing to me that you will be hiking the AT as a first-impression of the entire East Coast. I am the reverse of your background: I have only lived on the East Coast. I have been to California but not Oregon or Washington, so I understand how you would want to see another part of the country. I am interested to hear your views on how it's different here from what you have always known. I hope you get a chance to take a couple of days and check out some of the cities like DC, New York and Boston. They are all pretty unique in their own right.

Agree with ClaytonSea, through hiking will restore your faith in humanity. I was asked by friends why I was doing my 2023 through hike of the AT. I thought I had a good answer but found as the days and miles passed my perspective changed. When I reached the summit I realized that the trail had done for me is to show how good people really are. Honestly say, 99% of the people I met were great folks, kind hearts, willing to help a stranger. It also showed me that it doesn't matter who you are, how much you spent on gear, what shape you are in, if you are mentally and physically strong, you will succeed. AT Class of 2023. Enjoy the trail. Best of luck.

Congrats on Mt Adams that’s a great accomplishment 🎉. Love the quote on the hat. The AT is a tough but incredibly rewarding journey and you’re going to do great. Maybe will catch on trail somewhere down south with trail magic!

I was about 15 and camping with my family in the Smoky Mountains and we were on a hike and my mom said this trail goes all the way to Maine. I'm 66 and been thinking on taking about it ever since. My wife said I can do it in 2026 can't wait

You got this in the bag! Go hike your hike and do it your way. We all are supporting you through our thoughts and prayers. It will be tough. That will make you stronger I promise. Just remember embrace the suck and most of all if you are going to quit, do it on a good day. You will thank yourself for taking that little advise. I look forward to watching every blog vlog from Springer to Katahdin. Happy Trails.

Loved your Mt. Adams lesson and the graduation cap quote. Those with the personality suited for it, should periodically choose a challenge that they think is possible, while not being completely confident that it's within your grasp. You then set your goal, train, prepare, and work towards the launch date. Life is an adventure and you want to keep expanding your horizons. Just subscribed, and I'll tell you that you project the positive vibes of previous successful thru-hikers.

My hiking buddy thru hiked the AT in 2012 and vlogged his hike under Loner2012AT on KZfaq. He also wrote a book about his hike titled Painted Blazes. You might find these useful for prepping for your hike. I was in Oregon last summer for the first time around the time your were doing some of the Oregon Coast Trail. We stayed in Depoe Bay and saw the parts of the Oregon Coast trail in that area. It was fun to see those sections when you hiked thru there that I had been. Beautiful coast and state. Looking forward to your hike.
