Hearing Kim giggle and laugh in the background makes this video so much better. I'm guessing you can't do a Penn nighttime ritual. If he's like most guys, it's put on pajamas (Or pajama pants and t-shirt), brush teeth, crash.

Yup! Husband bedtime routine: 1. Announce that you're going to bed. Save time by disrobing while making your announcement. Leave trail to bedroom door so wife can find her way later. You know, after she walks the dog, checks the door locks, turns off all the lights, etc. 2. Climb into bed. Close eyes. Commence snoring.

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for the laugh this morning. When my husband and I first got together, he would stare at me in amazement at my "bedtime ritual" with the face cleanser, moisturizing cream, blah blah ..., and then when we finally got to bed the 3 or 4 pillow that had to be arranged in a very specific way for me to sleep. Bless them that put up with our craziness. They are wonderful men and we love them to pieces!!

I am totally like Kim with bedtime. I have a pillow to lay on and 2 pillows to the side of my face to keep my head straight and also block out noise. I love room darkening curtains and also use an eye mask, ear plugs and we have white noise going in our room too. My husband calls it my sensory deprivation chamber. I am a pretty light sleeper and some of us just have to work hard to sleep.

LOL! This was hilarious! Weird things about my husband and me. He needs noise to sleep well; I need quiet. Since he works nights, I get 4 nights a week with quiet, and I suffer through 3 nights of his noise, and his trips to the bathroom, getting snacks in the kitchen (which I can hear!), and his frequent need to wake me up to ask me a question because of something that came to his mind while prowling around the house. When you are a night worker, it's fairly impossible to straighten out your sleep schedule for the nights of the week when you are off. We've lived this way for 8 years now, and it takes its toll! Another thing: we have a king sized bed, but that's still too close! I need cool to sleep, but he's too hot! 😂 Ahhh, the joys of marriage! 😊

I remember one particular hotel room that had light coming from everything in it, it seemed, and me going around the room with towels and washcloths to try and cover it all. By the way, I love that Kim giggles at her Penn's impressions of her and will admit in her commentary at the end that the imitation is not that far off from the truth. Couples deciding to and HAPPILY sleeping in separate bedrooms is a legit thing. It's recently been called a "sleep divorce" in America. But I think they should be called "sleep staying togethers". Or whatever. Cuz staying together even more happily is the result. Being able to get quality sleep is a serious thing / need for everyone and if you think about it, NOT sleeping in your own bed is the thing that's more "weird" (if sleeping in separate rooms is odd to one). Individuals' sleep needs can be so specific and individual that it's pretty unusual that two people can share a bed without at least one causing additional problems for the other person. A LOT of people sleep in separate rooms or at least separate beds and it's only HELPED their marriage/ relationship. Cuz they know their partner will not get in the way of their getting a badly needed good night's sleep. Snuggling, etc can totally be done. Even hanging out in bed before going to sleep. And then one can move to the other bedroom for sleep time. In Germany they have a brilliant half and half solution to this - where they have bed platforms that have two separate mattresses and individual bedding on them. Each person has their own sheets, blanket, comforter, even mattress. When making the bed one or both comforters can be spread over both sections for a singular look or one for each section. Anyway those kinds of beds are the norm actually and have been popularly used for at least decades over there.

The breathing/snoring thing is me with my husband!! I hate him at bedtime and always say to him “were you always like this??” 😂

👏👏👏My husband “breathes” too. Not a snore, but a “puff-breath” 😂 And yes everything has to be “just right” and then sleep is still 50/50. My hair has to be off my face, but on the side of my face that’s “up” (side sleeper) it needs to cover my ear or else my ear is cold. And my feet need socks, maybe 2 pair. I could go on and on! 😂

TOTAL SILENCE!!! NO LIGHT!! I am a nightmare to sleep next to. My poor teenagers. They can't do anything in the living room past 10:00 or I'm a dragon emerging from her den to demand total silence and no light. WHYYY does the whole family need to make so much noise and light after I'm sleeping?? Penn, you are so funny and so sweet with your cute de-briefing about how you are not shaming Kim. Kim, sister you have such a great sense of humor. You guys made me laugh all through the pandemic. Love you guys! Please keep making us laugh.

Kim, separate beds is the answer! My husband and I have been sleeping separately or probably 8 to 10 years. We both love it and although I don’t sleep great, I sleep a lot better than I did when we shared a bed. NO shame!!!

Two words, girl. EAR PLUGS. I can't sleep without them. My hubby snores SO loud! Lol. And I have lots of pillows too. So it's not just you. Love the barrier pillows! I'll have to try that. 😊 Oh...and thank you guys for the videos on ADHD. My 19 year old son was recently diagnosed and any info we can get helps us understand why he thinks and responds the way he does. Sometimes it gets really tough. He's about to start his sophomore year in college and some days he gets very overwhelmed. And anxious. Anyway, thanks again. You guys ROCK!! 😁😁🤘🤘

Married 28 years - separate bedrooms since 7or 8 years in. One of us got the flu really badly and moved to the guest bedroom and never moved back. It is wonderful! We are the only couple we know still happy and intimate on a regular basis because we have wonderful sleep. I am in perimenopause too, Kim and it is the worst! Sounds bother me so much and I am a sweaty mess most nights. So glad for separate rooms!!

The pillows !!! OMG, totally me. My poor hubby, lol. I need the fan or a/c going 24/7 as both temp control and background noise. Yes, I totally need the silence, however, I tend to jolt awake at the slightest sound, which then has me up for, oh, the rest of the night 🙄 so, yeah, background or white noise is a must. I can't read before bed - if it's a goid book, I'm up until I've finished the book. If it's not good, I'm annoyed and looking for another book. This was Totally awesome 😂❤
