My husband passed away a year ago. While he was alive I was totally like “Kim” “Oh that’s yours? I have never seen you wear it, or use it or whatever. Throw it out!” Now as I go through his things, things I would have tossed without a second thought, now I’m saying to myself, “well he saved this random button, or piece of wood, or college windbreaker, for 30 years. Maybe I shouldn’t just throw it away.” 😂 Like he is going to haunt me over it or something. It’s absurd. But grief is a weird thing. So my advice to all you ladies out there. Toss it out while they’re alive! It’s much easier!!! 😂😂😂

I think Jerry Seinfeld joked about how men wear underwear to the point they're so thin that they just open a window and a slight breeze can blow away the fibers. In other news I'm clearing out our attic...it's like an episode of Hoarders up there. It's funny, all of my husband's stuff is ripe for decluttering while my stuff is museum worthy and I can't get rid of it.

I feel the mug part so much! Last year I made myself a deal that if I buy 1 new mug I have to declutter 2 from the cabinet. Not affected: holiday mugs that can be packed away with decor 😅😅😅

Thinning the coffee cup collection looks familiar. Except. It's not me. It's my husband. So I put all the cups that aren't favorites, have cracks and chips in them, etc, on a top shelf. Which is silly because he's 6'5 and will regularly pull out those cups and use them, even though the ones he claims are his favorites live on the bottom shelf. And then I get to shove them back up there later when I do the dishes. But we aren't going to discuss my gardening tools. Or all the dog toys. Or the stuff in my china cabinet (much of it flea market finds). It all has a story, baby. All of it.

I solved my mug problem by allowing only a certain space in one cupboard! If it doesn't fit, pick one to give away..

All those hats ... too funny! They remind me if my teens addiction to water bottles. Before she was even in middle school, she'd acquired at least 12 of them, all varieties. Straw, no straw, insulated metal, cheap plastic, cute ones, utlitarian ones. We moved. We tossed most of them. Now she only has one... hold on, uh, two water bottles. As I type, they're going out to get another massive one for track season. Help!

@@plainmarienc As a mother and grandmother, I would say, give her the water bottle. It's a small price to pay for something your daughter loves, and the literal joy she gets when receiving one... I myself get excited over finding a beautiful tea cup! 💕

Ya the holes in the underwear! Every 4 or 5 months I have to go through my husband's underwear & socks drawer & throw out all the holey ones! I buy him new packs ofsocks at least 4 times per year. Why does he always have holes in his socks? I get my daughters to gang up on him & they'll steel his holey socks right off his feet & throw then in the garbage!😅I'm like Dude I just bought you 3 packs of new socks wear the new ones!

Check out A Slob Comes Clean. She helped me with the whole, container concept. Meaning each space is a container and that container can only hold so much. I still struggle to pitch chipped mugs because (fill in the blank), but I'm working on it. Lol

You could display them all on one wall randomly hung everywhere and have a "hat" room. I also love hats, but don't look so great in a hat or without a hat. 💁but my head gets cold so I wear them to keep from getting sinus headaches. My boss does this! Anytime a closet or room needs organized she wants to buy bins. 😂 More bins is not always the answer… Especially if no one uses them or keeps up with the organized, tidy way.

Okay. It’s not hats for me. Nor is it anything else you can wear on your body or accessorize. My guilty pleasure is books. There is an entire room in my house dedicated to books that we actually call “the library”. The shelves are floor to ceiling, and wrap around the room. BUT I do actually read the books I buy. I also keep everything, tidy, dusted, and organized. 🧐😂

I'd like to think that's what I'd do if I had a house big enough, but at the same time, I think I would want it to be more like in our house growing up, which--it didn't have a separate room for books. It was more like every room had a bookshelf. Living room: couch, comfy chairs, computer desk, bookshelves. Bedrooms: bed, desk, somewhere for our clothes, bookshelves. Dining room: table, chairs, thingy that had ornaments on it, bookshelves. Bathroom: toilet, bathtub, sink, basket for books. Upstairs hallway: oh look, we can fit a long, low bookshelf here! My life right now: not enough money for all that, and everything is a mess, but we have enough books to be constantly tripping over them. :P

Speaking as a pale skinned hat woman I am completely with you on the hats. I have found that if you use your socks and undies to fill the headbox when you pack a hat 👒 and layer the brim between clothes they pack very nicely 😊

Same. LOL. Problem is they're tied to memories. I actually have like 3 different categories of like the old ones only at home to the newer ones . For my 40th bday my fam literally said 'don't come out today in a band shirt' cause they were throwing me a party. One goal is to have a blanket made of the key ones.
