I did a study on women abusers 15 year ago. I lived abuse all my life, the love of my life - I lost - due to abuse on both sides. Never proud. I wasn’t violent - I was degrading & mouthy. I cringe to this day. I lost the best life I could of had.

Dear Richard. If you ever read this comment, I’d like too say, I’m so sorry for what you went through, You are a survivor and not a victim, never think of yourself of being weak, being strong got you through this and that shows great strength in your character and your loving nature. Yes, it will take some time too to process your emotions and feelings but you will get there! No one has the right to abuse anybody. I hope you find happiness for you and your beautiful children because you deserve to be loved and cared for like everybody does. Time does heal, stay strong , it took great courage to finally speak out, I’m just lost for words. I really hope a love that you’ve never had before finds you and you can enjoy the rest of your life knowing this awful awful experience is over. Xx

I was a wife to an abuser and a partner before to an abuser. I 100 % understand what you went thru, the mental torture the physical abuse the verbal abuse......😮😢 I hope you are happy and met someone who can really appreciate you and love you for who you are. Like me I have remarried and moved on and I couldn't be happier I have had no abuse in any form for the last 10 years 😊 . I was first abused at 14 I am now 47 and if I can pull thru it you can too😊 keep ypir xhin up and remember the signals ;-)

I watched this in disbelief and horror. To do what she did to Richard, was absolutely sickening. Their children saw and heard it all. What will that do to them psychologically?? I had to keep stopping the pieces of footage to catch my breath. Four years for almost killing the man. I am truly shocked by that. I hope Richard and his daughters receive counselling for all they have been through.

The most admirable selfless man and amazing father. His only concern through his torment and torture was for his children and his abusive wife. He did not want it to break the family up and thought he could make his wife happy and turn her life around. It broke my heart watching this. Seeing him in an interview recently you can clearly see that this has left him somewhat a broken man but I was happy to see that his daughters are thriving in his care and he’s now found happiness with a new partner for which he thoroughly deserves. I hope he finds the stability and security that he should have had in his marriage. Many woman would love to have a devoted sensitive husband like Richard. Her loss is now someone else’s gain and I wish him his new partner and his children all the luck for the future from here on moving forward.

I went from sad to angry so many times watching this documentary, I was felt depleted after it was over. Men should know that they are not alone. I hope this documentary raises more awareness on domestic abuse. I also hope the Spencer family except Sheree heals in time and finds happiness that they deserve.

I could never bring myself to hurt my husband 😢 it makes me want to cry just thinking about it. Idk if I can even watch this doc it's so terribly sad... But hopefully will make an impact and give more men the courage to speak up 🙏🏼

I as a woman cannot believe what this poor poor man was put through for 20 years. My goodness it was unbelievable 😢 heartbreaking and he never hit her back...that shows what a kind, loving soul he has. I watched this with my husband and we were in disbelief, it made me cry😢 why didn't she just leave him if she wasn't happy? I so hope that he has now found total happiness and it hasn't left him to think all women are like her because we're not. I adore my husband and I would never harm a hair on his head. I hope him and his children are happy now and in a better place mentally. Keep your head up and don't lose faith in women 😊

He has other women in his life supporting him, his sister and stepmum. I don’t think he will lose faith in women with those beside him…just that evil cow. She should never be allowed to contact either him or the children ever again.

I’m watching this now and it’s horrendous. This woman is a monster, she’s hitting him and swearing at him while the little children are there. It’s shocking to watch but important to show. How he didn’t snap and strangle her or something I don’t know. She’s so angry fuelled a lot of the time by alchohol. The poor man lived like this for years, I don’t know how he put up with it. I hope he’s living a happy life now

Narcissist abuse is not ok for anybody having experienced it for 15years I had to walk away from a nice house in a nice area ..it's taken alot of courage for this to exposed Richard I totally commend your strength .. there's help out there to heal for both parties ❤

I’ve never ever cried but my goodness, I couldn’t stop crying. You know it’s particular bad when the police woman is struggling to hold back her tears. I’m in Australia and just watched the first episode..it had me in tears to think such a lovely man suffered so much for so long…….your wife simply did not deserve you….I am glad you spoke up….sort justice….now live the rest of your without fear….but in peace.

He was absolutely deluded. The moment someone puts their hands on you, it is over, because it will happen again. You do not hurt someone you love, verbally or physically. When people claim they love after abuse or cheating, they don't, because you do not hurt or cheat if you genuinely love someone. If you are not shown respect you are better alone.@@markyruss

Hello Richard, just hope you know that everyone who is decent thinks you are more of a man for not retaliating against her abuse. Every decent woman wants a husband like you. Never once did you give in and use your force to take over the situation. I’ve been there and I know how hard it is to escape. I’m so glad your friend reported her as I know you wouldn’t due to 20 years abusive conditioning and your love for her and your children. I really hope you can move on although I know it is so hard! Just know you have the support of the country and thank you for highlighting abuse against men, it is such an uncovered issue in our society. You really ARE a real man and I applaud you for your bravery! I feel hes pain , Time after Time the police & social services support & back my girlfriend, Few months ago the social services called my girlfriend asking her "Are you sure your ok? Possibly not??...well, just so you know.... 1.She tried convincing his neighbours even after what they themselves saw what she did towards him that it was all him doing the abuse. 3.During her questioning by police she tried pinning it all on him and even During her trial she was going to domestic abuse victim meetings and was trying to convince everyone there that it was all him and even pleaded innocent up until the last minute of her trial. 3.this woman did a lot worse that just stomp on him if you watched it you would know and don't use other examples of abuse to diminish someone else story. abuse is abuse no matter what level of severity, what nature it is, and who done it, man or woman, no one deserves abuse, period! And lastly 4. If he did defend himself as you "say" and didn't have the video evidence aswell, nobody would of believed him. He would be in a lot more trouble escaping the nightmare than being free with his daughters... You're the joke pal, maybe actually watch the programme before you judge.
