Hello IT Pros! This is Alvendril. In this Video I show How to UPgrade the Bios version on a HP Prodesk 600. In order to do that I need to create a Bootable DOS USB Drive. The process took around 3 minutes. I also show where to download the Bios Upgrade file. Hope you like it!

Thanks, just updated my prodesk bios today in order to upgrade cpu. Could not have done it without your guidelines. Honestly is a bit terrifying process, given one mistake can screw the pc. Best regards from Colombia 🤘

Worked perfectly! Thank you! BIOS on my HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF is now up to date! Have you ever covered a RAM addition question? I have it working with a 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600U-9-11-A1. All other 2GB and 4GB sticks, either 1Rx8 or 2Rx8, or PC3-10600U or 12800U (varying last 3 sets of numbers), and all i get from them are 5 beeps with 5 red flashing power button lights. Any idea why only the one stick works when others that are the same (except the 9-11-A1) do not? Thanks again!

Thanks for your guidelines, but one important additional comments is needed. To boot from USB Drive, "Secure boot" should be disabled and "Legacy boot" should be enabled. These actions can be done in BIOS setup (Secure boot configuration)

Yes it does but I wouldn't suggest such a good processor in this system

I can't seem to find the latest bios update for my HP prodesk 600 g1 sff. we have the same model but the only available bios update for me in the website is in year 2017.

Hello Joshua, I look using another serial number, it also showed me the 2017 bios update. I no longer have the specific hp desktop that i used for the video. 2 reason i think that may happen: 1) The 2019 update was giving problems to people who installed it, so they decided to remove it while they work on an upgrade. 2) The model I used for the video had some hardware that was a little different than the rest. Therefore, the 2019 update is only available when you type a specific group of serial numbers. Again, that’s what think happened 😑😑😑😑 Hope it helps Thanks for the comment

Awesome video..Thank you..However I see you flashed the bios up to version 2.77,I was only able to find version 2.71 which came out in 2017..I pulled it from the HP website..Any ideas where to find it? However the bios upgrade was a complete success..Thanks!!

Hello, I found that out some months when I looked for a new update for the model in the video. The best answer i found in the HP forums was that HP might have found some issue(s) with that update, 2.77. Since the model is old, instead of creating a patch or a new version they decided to replaced it with a previous version that worked and doesn't have any problems. So, the version you have is the official latest bios update version for that model. It's odd to me as well as I have ver 2.77 on my machine but that version doesn't exist anymore. HP Prodesk 600 G1 with BIOS ver 2.65 from 2015 works well with Xeon E3 1265L v3 in my case.

Great video, sorry to ask this, but updating the BIOS is necessary? I have HP ProDesk 600 G1. With a i5 4590 CPU. The BIOS version it has is from 2014 and the latest version available in HP support page is 2020. In this case is necessary Updating the BIOS and why? Thanks 🙏🏻

Hello Cayo, You update the bios principally for security updates that patches up vulnerabilities. The other reason(s) is to get new features, (this is more for older computers), that allow you to use let's say with new/not so common operating systems. Hope it helps Thanks for the comment!

Got a question From what I understood, some guy said that you need the 8.1 version of the bios to be able to use a gt 1030 gpu Yet i see that (i have the same as You, 600 g1 sff) my pc's latest version is 02.71 or something (from 2017) Does the bios version really matter And if Yes, is mine good enough?

Hello, On that same computer i installed and configured a 1050 ti gpu. I upgraded to the latest bios and windows 10 version before installing. Hope it helps Thanks for the comment
