12lb is my go to. 20 when I’m fishing expensive glide baits and Topwater lures ;)

I have recently brought a boat very similar to ur set up and just watching this video has given me more confidence in going to find fish using google ect i fish the dams a bit but wanna get back into salt water more

John do you rate dobyn bait caster rods above other brands e.g shimano and been trying to buy 7-2 or 7-4 foot medium fast bait caster in N.S.Wales and no stocks them so where do you buy your rods from, love chasing big flats on sand, my biggest as been over 1metre, I fish brisbane waters on the central coast N.S.Wales

4:20 there’s a beach on the right hand side Fish outgoing tide there’s a drop off there at rock wall next to the house got a jewfish and mangrove Jack there

Brilliant video. Packed with a wealth of information. The areas I fish are very weedy so I am very interested in weedless lures you use. I am not after monsters just a nice 40cm flattie will do. I'm really looking forward to any videos you can make while you compete in the Gold Coast Flathead Classic. I would expect your focus will be more on fishing than filming. Good luck.

Hey Killersloth Gaming - I can provide you with a bit of info on this question. If you head over to the Tackle Tactics (TT Lures) website you will find some great guides that provide all the recommended jig head / hook sizes for the different ZMan plastics. Here is a link to the weedless guide, and there is another one for standard jigheads too. tackletactics.com.au/Rigging-Guides/Selecting-a-TT-Lures-Weedless-Jighead-for-your-ZMan-Plastic Most tackle stores will have TT jigheads, but there is also search function on the TT website to locate your closest stockist. I hope this helps.

What lb line and leader would you recommend for the big girls mate?

I run 12-20lb leader just to prevent saw offs from their teeth. 10lb main line is plenty I reckon.

@@mylurebox awesome thank you, im going to lake tyres this weekend to fish the upper arms and ive only got 8, 12 and 20lb leader. Going to have 1 rod with 8lb main to 10lb leader and the other 15lb main and 20lb leader.... 15lb main wouldn't be too much would it? I have no other option
