Hi, this video shows the main differences between a KRONE and 110 tool and how to spot the difference between the connections. This video also shows you how to use a Telephone/Telecom IDC punchdown tool and all features of budget and expensive versions.
These IDC punchdown tools are used in BT and Virginmedia phone systems and in the majority of phone systems around the world. They are also found in all networking wiring both cat5e and cat6.

I have just purchased a Krone tool for my home network and I was trying to figure out what all the little intricate bits were. I was totally lost.(Electrician by trade) Your video was a WEALTH OF INFORMATION. You were very CLEAR AND CONCISE with your explanation and description of the functions. To use LUMICIG's word" FANTASTIC". I have also now learnt things I didn't know existed about cabling connections - much appreciated. I am now revisiting all my "screwdriver" connections I have done around the house in the past.. Cheers, Dennis

I recently bought a bag of RJ-45 punchdown keystone jacks here in the states and couldn't figure out if they were 110 or Krone. Until I found your excellent video, I spent a lot of effort searching others that were an absolute and total waste of time. Many thanks for by far the most detailed, informative, and helpful video on the subject! Well done! Cheers!

Vince, you are amazing! Your delivery and your detailed explanations are top drawer...superb! If you aren't already, you should be a professional teacher/lecturer. You have given me the confidence to fit a completely new phone junction box - a job I have never done before and at 72, am a bit wary of tackling! I shall report back when finished. Thanks again for such an excellent video.

Graham Langley Krone and other european companies sells Krone LSA+ tool compatible LSA+ blocks - in Germany we use mostly 10 and 20 blocks. I self use high packed small 40 blocks too, they less 2 finger wide. Three of them are a hand wide - mean 120 blocks! Smaller is no more possible! For this the U.S. 66'er and 110'er are big in my eyes. Sure I use them here in Thailand too - the phone company not have here a true "standard".

Many thanks, I have looked at 6 other videos on Krone tools and yours is the only one that explained the what the wire clip does on my middle of the road Draper tool. Great set of videos. I am replacing the quadraplex plate in my living room to remove the return TV feed, now that I have moved to Sky Q and I am changing the telephone slave socket at the same time as its top clip is broken, (Euro module). I may make a video on how to do it.

i am subscribed and i find the info very helpful. two things besides the point. don't bring the object up and down so fast, the focus of the camera can't follow you at the same speed. also the cameraman has trouble trying to follow you with very little cue. second, with a flashlight directed to the lens of the camera makes it almost impossible to see what you are trying to show.

That was very helpful. Do you have a video on how to turn a telephone network (using unshielded 8 core, 4 twisted pairs) into an ethernet LAN without removing the wires? Challenges: 1) identifying and keeping one line as the telephone access line; 2) converting the wall plugs into LAN ports; 3) re-tasking the patch board as a LAN Patch board. Other considerations type of network, ring, star, bus, etc.

The "sensor" on the Krone tool is for terminating a second wire on top of an existing wire on the same input on the socket. For terminating a single wire leave it in the "down" position. If you want a second wire on top of an existing termination put the sensor in the "up" position.

Gego/XAREN ゲゴザレン Yes, we german speaking people talks it LSA and LSA+ tool - orginally for Loet- Schraub- und Abisolierfreie Verbindungswerkzeug. Sorry that I can't explain it in english language, feel free to use Google Translator or LEO.org . The orginal Krone LSA was ---, later they use a 45° angle and named it LSA+.

Hi Vince, thanks for this helpful video, looks like I have the wrong tool. lol. I got the yellow 110 tool as part of a network kit (tester, crimping tool & the yellow punch down thing) Trying to terminate a cat 7 flat cable to the socket, followed the colour codes on the Cat 6A socket and I used the yellow 110 to push in but wasnt sure but seeing your clip I can see the connectors are krone so I have just got a krone tool on route now. Can I just punch down with the krone tool although I have tried already? or do I need to take it all out and cut the wire back again? Thanks for all your help

Why nobody ever explains why you don't need to strip the ends of the wires you are punching down. How unstripped wire with insulation is going to make contact?.

Krone use first --- too. Later they change to the 45° cross angle. The 100% connect arrive faster, specially if you use 2 cable same size. We name in Germany the first LSA and the second LSA+. The patent of this hold the company Krone till yet. The china punch down tools are not so bad, they are cheaper as the orginal only. What you thinking where the company Krone let produce her own tools - only in Austria with 20% tax or in P.R.C.? The small punching things land into my waste box quickly - most of them works ten times only before they make fake connects. The U.S. connectors are older, they know them since the 60's, they are longer and starts in the telephon business first. The most european companies follow the Krone standard, I hope the UK will not change in 2017! Let the U.S. make her own mistakes the next 8 years - good for all European Standards.

It's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? I don't know. Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Put it up to eleven. Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? These go to eleven.

Howdy. Is that an Abilene Texas accent? You should wear a cowboy hat to be more authentic. Durned good explanation partner. Git'r done bro. Here in the U.S.A. BICSI lists knowledge about the Krone Lötfrei [Solderless] Schraubfrei [Screwless] Abisolierfrei [No insulation removal] (LSA) punch downs as required to obtain their Installer certification. Ain't never seen one til watching your video. Gracias amigo. - 45 degrees off from 66- and 110- Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) cross connects. Yeah? - allow stranded wires to be punched down. Yeah? - hybrid. cool. Yeah?
