Shri Govind ji deity is one of the oldest 3 deities which were made by Krishna’s grandson, Vajranabh. About other two deities, Shri Madan Mohan ji and Gopinath ji we have covered the lila in previous videos.
Just to remind, as per the features of Lord Krishna, Govind ji deity resembles Krishna’s lotus face the most, while Gopinathji resembles the body and Madan Mohan ji resembles the lotus feet.
Therefore all the 3 deities holds a very important place in hearts of Krishna devotees.
History of Radha Govind Dej ji Temple. The original Govind ji Deity was found about 450 years ago by Sri Rupa Goswami (one of the chief associates of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu). In 1590 A.D., the Govind ji temple was built by Maharaja Man Singh from Jaipur. It took 5 years for several thousand men to complete its work and it was the grandest and tallest temple in this region at that time, rising upto 7 floors height.
Unfortunately, it was noticed by the Muslim emperor Aurangzeb, and foreseeing the attack devotees shifted Govind ji Deity from this temple. Aurangzeb’s army managed to destroy top few floors of temple and the remaining ones can be still seen today.
