Charming little town - I am imagining it in snow with warm, gentle lighting in the buildings 😊💜

It’s starting to look much more town-like now! Much kudos to Doug as well for his efforts with the shunter! It looks really good 😊 Once again you have done a lovely job of managing to make something look ‘busy’ but not ‘cramped’ 🤔👍🍀🥂

I reckon part of the charm is that the little town is one I can see being successful in real 'big' life. It's looking great and I hope you do get out to exhibit it😍

Thanks. I always think the scenery has to be plausible, even if it is condensed, there has to be a reason for the railway to be there. Secondly it should be in the landscape not on it, if that makes sense

Looks great. Lots packed into a small space. Nearly finished building my N scale Castle gatehouse to force perspective on my otherwise OO layout - it's a great kit in its own right. Cheers

This layout is such a nice size with multiple buildings where if you added internal LEDs it would like nice in a dark room. You do so well with designing layouts with two levels …. presents a lot of options for creating visual interest. 🤔

Superb little town ! For my own, I would put a little bit of greenery in the form of a tiny public park between the castle and the factory, behind the house atop the track. But that's my personal thing.

That looks great. I do like to see a busy little community on a model railway. Great work. Is it too cold to be out in the shed at the moment? Happy Modelling from the land of Aus

Shed is OK, but it's a cold wet trek down there lol

That is a nice little town scene. Is there not a way you could put some steps going from the castle down to the shop in the far corner as it seems a little cut of from the rest of the towns as it is.
@BudgetModelRailways5 ай бұрын
The idea is that it's in another lower part of the town that would continue from the front of the layout. I've built three sets of tiny steps so the novelty has worn off lol. Each one has over 50 hand-cut components

Did you see Hattons Closure? I'm not surprised with costs.....the buildings have great detail...fantastic, is the brewery working, we have 34c today so I'm thirsty..
@BudgetModelRailways6 ай бұрын
Hattons will only be the start in my view. The hobby is in decline due to the wrong emphasis on perfection at any cost aimed at a small rapidly decline demographic, Hattons actually admitted demographics as a factor. When the whole hobby is aimed at and run by people over 65- 70 then it's no wonder. Steps need to be taken to attract newer younger people at a lower budget
@davidsheriff89896 ай бұрын
Here we have Frateschi which is cheaper and better quality than either Bachmann or Hornby

@@BudgetModelRailways Agreed. When I was 18-25 in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I had no money to put in a single engine costing the equivalent of today's GBP 300, the price of a mid-range SLR camera (I was an hardcore photographer at this period). Which kid today can afford such an expense ? My nephews, who are in this age bracket, won't, and did not even think about it. We need GBP 30-50 engines, GBP 2 to 5 wagons, and GBP 5 to 10 coaches to have an hobby for youngsters !
@user-si9mn9jo2y5 ай бұрын
Hattons' closure is not due to rising prices. Firstly Hattons took a gamble and tried to become a direct competitor to Bachmann by taking on the Class 66. Which resulted in Bachmann parting ways. Bachmann products were a massive chunk of Hattons' revenue. Beyond that Hattons then tried to become a manufacturer themselves taking up another large chunk of finances. Most of the Hattons made models were not upto industry standards, most of their models were done in partnership with DJM and Heljan, two manufacturers well known for their errors, inaccuracies and over-engineered mechanisms. This was another flop that resulted in low sales. Hattons' then shot themselves in the foot with some exorbitant prices on some second hand items that were in pathetic condition. Their customer care has also been a hit and miss. It can be good or terrible.

@@BudgetModelRailways well when Hornby introduced Design Clever, people had an issue with it and made such a noise over new models with reduced detail. Design Clever was actually the way forward. And it still is. Unfortunately the current modelling demographic wants to have models that match Continental stuff, but they still complain about the prices. Manufacturers are now literally stuck between a rock and a hard place. Because whatever they do, people are unhappy about it.
