While he’d get left on corners on the flipside I bet they get very frustrated when this mx5 overtakes in the bends to then be held up by a very slow car on the straights. Put a similar driver in even a base Carrera and this mx5 would be left for dust. I’m a mx5 fan but they are slow as std, they need to be supercharged or turbocharged or fully built with ITB’s/cams or they are frankly too slow.

Its a good bet that there will be a distant future, where people will know personal transportation only to be efficient, and safe. Im sure, that in time, even the concept of piloting your own vehicle, instead of letting cloud MIs navigate it will seem ridiculous. But there will be some people, who gonna ask: what was DRIVING like? And then, this recording shall be shown to them.

Slow in a straight line though. You need to prep this car correctly by also increasing power, the chassis and balance is great. It’s crying out for more power. I’d like to see peoples views of how annoying it is to be overtaken on bends but then be held up by your car on any straights because it’s far too slow with a std engine. Modify the engine properly.

@Barryschitpeas42069 3 жыл бұрын
@@Speedwelltuning Do you actually know *anything* about driving at the ring? Straights are for fast cars corners are for fast drivers. No point overtaking a slower car on a straight if they're just going to sit on your bumper until you let them pass. If a car with 1/3 of the power is leaving you behind in corners you are shit and should stay behind them.

It's Amazing how this Japanese car took the best of Europeans best, and people say Miata is a Girl's car. I have Always loved these cars. I can care less if people say its a Girl's car. It is not a Girl's car. The Miata is a Drivers Car. Give me a Miata and I will sure Rock it. The human body is incapable of feeling speed. Just acceleration or change of direction. The definition of G-Force. Acceleration and ability to change direction is everything in a sports car. And this itself is what makes Mazda's fun to drive. The Mazda Miata MX-5 isn't a drag race car and taking a Miata in a Drag strip does define acceleration of these cars coming out of corners. Top end speed is just a pissing contest. But take the Miata to a Gran Turismo track where it belongs and the muscle car will see a telephone pole before it ever sees the Miata. Mazda is All about Handling in their cars. Power to Weight Ratio has always been in Mazda's minds. And this is why I will "Always" drive a Mazda. Go Zoom Zoom!!!

Nice work obviously but mainly came to say thanks for the mods list. And those changes look so doable on a normal wage! You really are the number one performance upgrade in that car. I've got 17s on my NC and it lacks suppleness. People think I am silly to want more sidewall and reduced weight but I reckon it will drive better... suspect you're onto this. I've 6 and 4.5 kg springs with 9s and 6s for the track. Gonna keep the airbag steering wheel though :)

Wow - what a superb video and awesome driving! To comprehensively see off a 911 GT3 RS in an NC Mazda MX-5 with some mods that the 911 has also in spades as standard. Fascinating.. I've lapped the Nurburgring in my own Z4M coupe, 911 C2S and Cayman S and have now bought myself a 'cheap' NC2 MX-5 2.0. I've been wondering if it would be good around the ring compared to the higher power stuff and there is the answer in this video! Great stuff! As others have commented, you gain so much in having a light car with moderate power that you can use all of the time pretty much...Will ba taking my MX-5 NC 2.0 to the Ring for sure., although I won't be expecting to be as fast as Mr Serwanski! ;-)

If you drove like that on a track in the States the driver in front of you would be screaming at you for following too close. I've seen it happen a few times and each time the one in front looses the argument. Excellent driving.

That Mazda driver can drive the car well. Very nicely done. 911 driver was pushing the car plenty hard when you relate it to what is at stake, which is the financial loss if something bad happens. Plus, we have no idea how many laps the 911 driver has done. When you watch the throttle indicator of the Mazda driver, he knows exactly how soon he can get in the gas even over blind hills & corners. He knows the course like the back of his hand, and I would not be surprised if he has been lapping there for yeeaarrs.

+Harry Luthi If you look at the video, it shows what the drivers fastest lap was "7:58". The porsche was probably lapping at least 15 seconds slower. So, conservatively we can assume the porsche was lapping about "8:15" (I would guess something like 8:20-25", judging by how quickly the miata caught up at first. Anyway, the porsche is a 997.2 gt3 RS. The fastest lap someone has achieved with this car is "7:33". So the guy could be anywhere from 45 seconds to a whole minute off. On top of this, he is all over the place and generally doesn't seem very clean - which is a sign of pushing beyond your capabilities. Basically, he was pushing the car pretty hard actually. He just sucked at it.

+Harry Luthi At the time of this clip I had done approx 100 laps IRL over 2 years and 50 laps gaming before that.

turningperformance Well it certainly shows, I always enjoy watching great drivers push the envelope, as far as what the car can do. I wouldn't necessarily call 100 irl laps a lot for a few reasons, but I guess you are talking over 1400 miles of (it excluding simulation, 2100+ including). The important corners with the most potential to shave time have only been hit 100 times. (even though it looks like you've been driving there your whole life).

Axel Nussbaumer I agree with you there. I'd say at least 1 minute off for the same reason you did, how quickly the Miata caught up.
