For my skyscrapers that I've only just recently started building because I could not find any cost effective ones on eBay or in shops , I bought A3 sizes sheets of perspex, I bought them in various colours, black, clear, brown, grey & blue being the most popular ones, I found it better to use a coloured sheet of perspex better than your system of painting clear sheets, when I tried spraying clear sheets , firstly it's impossible to get a very even coat, & secondly when you glue the sides it does not affect the paint like it did on your models , I must say that you've made nice buildings but I went a step further once I got more confident, and I added a floor on each level using 3mm MDF , I then put in lights on different floors and once turned on , it looks like some offices are occupied at night whilst others are not. This is only meant as an idea for you to ponder and try your hand at. I also glued 3mm x 3mm styrene down the front edges on both sides. Great work I must say .well done

+john calnan Thank you for your comment. I will be looking into perspex because I'm lookingot make one more buildiing. Where can I find perspex?

+Cinluvsart Hi how are you , I get my perspex locally here where I'm living in Ireland , I'm lucky I'n that they're is a factory nearby that uses it for their building projects. Before that I done a search on eBay and a few sellers came up and I found them all very reasonable on price cause of the small sizes . A3 the postal charge was very cheap also.

1 more FYI: Auto window tint. Use the Mirror stuff. I have done my old fish tank back with Limo tint etc. For a Building that would have tinted windows this should work.

great video...I am stuck on one part though and it probably is an incredibly stupid question...but when creating the template what are your dimensions...I converted a floor plan from the council on tall buildings that stated the lobby is 25ft 7 in tall which converts to 1.91 inches and each floor should be about an inch tall...but the width of the windows has me perplexed and the excel sheet I created has it a full page wide and seems way to big...your help would be greatly appreciated...I know I am missing something incredibly simple here

Do you spray rustoleum on the back of the windows of the plexi glass and as well do you spray the black paint on the back of windows also?

No but you can. It will give you the same effect I have found out. Sorry for the late response.

Hi again my friend , I have ordered in some various colours of 3mm perspex / acrylic to build my skyscrapers and I've been practising on some old bits I have about and one problem I can't solve is how to cut the acrylic without leaving jagged edges, what or how do you cut the perspex and to leave a clean jagged free outline please. Thanks ever so much , I know your busy so reply when you have a spare few minutes Thanks John

+john calnan I use a extco knife medal ruler and claps. the claps are used to hold the ruler, cutting surface, and plexiglass together to get a straight line. Once the piece is cut I use rough sandpaper and nail files to smooth the edges. Look up how to cut plexglass.

Hi again I meant to ask you about what thickness styrene sheets do you use for the side walls of your skyscrapers ? I've experimented with using 6mm MDF on the hidden sides of some of my builds and then glue 0.5mm onto the face of it but it didn't look right. So I could do with your input on the best thickness of styrene to use as its a product I have not used very much Thank you. John

+john calnan I use evergreen .40 styrene or I go to my local home improvment store here in the US and buy a plastic no parking sign which is the same price a sheet of evergreen styrene, but go get a lot more. Hopefully that answered your question.

+Cinluvsart thanks ever so much , after all my years modelling it's only recently I've started using styrene and I don't know a lot about its sizes etc Thanks for the advise and I look forward to seeing your next update, I'll let you know if I start my own channel as Im restarting back on my n gauge layout which is L shaped with each size being 13 ft long x 4ft deep on two levels with the fiddle yard on lower level to save space Up top. The city Im designing is about 4.5 ft x 5.5ft deep which is a big size for N scale & I'm also putting 12 faller vehicles driving around the whole layout. I'm only a yr into a 3 yr project. But I've been buying / making buildings plus buying stock for last :3 yrs & have about 20 1ft x 1ft boxes filled . Not to mention 100's ft peco code 80 flexi track, points & NCE DCC operating system
