Namaste - Seeing the Truth of Who We Are, with Tara Brach
(03-28-2018)
A gift of evolving consciousness is the capacity to recognize and honor the sacred awareness that lives through our own and all beings. This capacity is blocked by our identification with our “mask” or ego self, and not seeing past other people’s masks. In this talk we reflect together on some key filters of superior/inferior and good/bad that shape the trance of a narrowed identity, and then explore how mindfulness and kindness free us to inhabit the vastness of our natural awareness. We close with tasting the possibility of bringing the spirit of Namaste to ourselves, others and all beings.

I can't get enough of your teachings. I've been immersed this past week. Helping me recover from a deep need for love & belonging. A separateness and a war against myself and others I've lived with for years. Namaste!!

Amazing timing. Tears are running. Melting an old wound between my mother, me and my daughters and probably generations back through eternity of time. It is possible to receive new warmth from ourselves. Even the most cluttered stagnant and repetitive places, can get new flow. The first step is willingness to see what is actually there. I really believed that I was unable to truly love. That is NOT true. To love is all my being truly wants to do. 🙏 ❤Tara.

At the end I brought up the image of my long suffering, embodiment of unconditional love, mother. I didn't think of the years at the end of her life, when she had Alzheimer's and I washed, fed, and cared for her in every way, I saw her before that, her strength and deep love and compassion. Stinging eyes began producing tears and I remembered, when she had advanced Alzheimer's, I walked into her room and she said, with a beautific, childlike smile, "I don't know who you are, but you sure do take good care of me. Thank you!😍". Gotta let my eyes leak a little now. Thank you Tara 💖🙏🏼 Namaste 🙏🏼🌻

Thank you, Tara... your teachings are not only full of endless spiritual wisdom, but also come with a level of kindness, humility and compassion that we rarely see in this age. The personalities of Pema Chodron, Billy Graham, Ram Dass, and Thich Nhat Hahn come to mind. Namaste.

Thanks again. This is the first time I've really cried for my mother, since she passed, at the age of 91, in 2015. I've been wearing my "brave girl mask for so long."💖🙏🏼🌻🌈

I've always been attractive. You'd think that I have no problem with my own body image, but at 63 I often moan about no longer having the 28" waist that I had decades ago. People compliment my appearance every day, but I'm always aware of every imperfection... painfully aware. After practicing the Dharma of Buddhism for a few years, I'm beginning to let go of that self judgement, but only beginning. Old habits die hard. --weezi--💜🌈🙏🏼🌻

OUR NEEDS FOR AUTONOMY & BELONGING ARE NOT OPPOSED, THEY'RE THE SAME! Thank you, Tara Brach, for defining “sovereignty” in terms of spiritual wholeness! I see even better now the autonomy we all want is “sovereignty,” authenticity, what Fr. Thomas Merton called “spiritual freedom.” As you say, just think about body shame & other small identities we have. Our creativity blooms only when we free ourselves, when we stop comparing ourselves to the mask we put on to compete for applause. TO COMPARE IS TO COMPETE & THUS TO BE NARROW-MINDED. I see the choice better, to cooperate & adapt rather than compete & reify! Like authentic religion, spiritual freedom is altruistic. I can choose this infinitely abundant view over not enough. Richard Ryan & Edward Deci's “Self-Determination Theory” says we’re motivated by: (1) autonomy, (2) belonging to a group & (3) competence/mastery. WE’RE ENOUGH & WHAT WE NEED TO MASTER IS HOW TO FREE OUR OWN GOODNESS.

You need to tell the people who are behind the back of you to go elsewhere if they want to hear the lecture. A skin portion was on my left a man's face on the right with what may have been a female peeking over his head. A person on my left in grey clothing crouching down. Once I noticed these distraction My attention to you was distracted and I signed off. The man's face on the right was downright spooky.

Joann Ostern wow! At least u were able to see what’s haunting you. Maybe u can use it to go within and identify the fears that r holding you back!! I’m being sincere in telling u, it was exactly these kinds of experiences that led me to realize how to gentle w myself. It’s a beautiful journey. I hope u take it.

Funny how female sovereignty in that story comes at the expense of the male.
@mythnow

Why do you see it that way?
@themuse11
@themuse11 6 жыл бұрын
It is funny, considering it's historically been the other way around, and that no one has lost sovereignty in the tale. Everyone in the story gained sovereignty / exercised self ownership. AND their own sovereignty & position was increased by giving others theirs.

SuperLotus female sovereignty in this case appears as a result of the male being able to go within and find compassion
