Tune in for our one month review of the Nami Burn-E electric scooter! We take a look at a suspension adjustment as well as the steering column dampener as performance upgrades to an already incredible piece of machinery.
As a house call doctor in a busy metropolitan space like Washington, DC, one of the biggest challenges is getting to clients and patients in a fast, efficient, and reliable way.
Electric scooters have been helping us do our job at a higher level than ever. With the ability to rapidly move from place to place with little to no trouble with parking, this investment was a no-brainer for us.
We hope it will continue to allow us to do our jobs at a very high level for those who need us most.

It really makes our job a lot of fun! Getting around the busy streets of DC on a scooter is a daydream compared to being trapped in the car. As much as I love the Tesla it has to wait in line just like everybody else.

Yes the Nami is a great piece of machinery with loads of power, not for the faith hearted 😉. Guess is just what you are used to are used to. If you are coming from a motorcycle background then the power is very pleasing. Taking of with wheelspin in X mode is glorious, but with great power and speed comes the need for breaking power. Most mountain bike brake parts will fit on the Nami so if you looking for more control and better braking there are 4 piston hydraulic brakes available at any Mtb store. Also having your suspension setup up right will reduce the wobbles and don't be shy to turn up the damping on the steering. I also suggest practicing emergency braking, taking of and cornering at a empty parking lot or similar.

Always good to be prepared. Might have to go shred it in a parking structure to check out this emergency breaking technique.

Now separate from my comment below I want to say I added a short bar up front that I attached two 3000 lumen lights to with also a tyre pressure monitoring system ( which gives me great peace of mind ,regarding flat tyres) and a phone holder. All available on Amazon. I also went to my local bike shop and bought two small bike lights that have rubber stretchy cord and attach those to the rear bar. They work perfect. I’ve had a lot of comments that I’m easily seen due to good lighting. With these I never use the scooters lights so I get a lot more distance. I normally ride around 50 to 70km. Great machine😎👍

A steering damper is absolutely essential to completely eliminate the speed wobble. I have them on both my DT3 and DT Thunder. I wouldn't think of riding at speed without them.

Hey Doc is good to hear from you. I'm glad you love your Nami. I would highly recommend getting some motorcycle grade overalls. Your current outfit would not prevent any road rash that could be sustained in the event of an accident. I will also recommend getting the cygolite. It's a great rear light. I would also recommend riding shoes for the same reason above. Gloworm makes a great headlight as well Outbound lighting. I would also recommend motorcycle grade gloves.

We definitely want to stay protected while out on the road. It’s a little bit of a difficult balance for me because I often have to visit patients/clients immediately after parking the scooter and undoing all of the protective gear just to walk into a meeting certainly challenging. We’re continuing to look at ways to stay safe, but also stay modular for patient and business sake!

Moved from an Inokim OX to the Nami. Very uncomfortable the first day. Got Scooter Bro’s to make the brake levers more spongy in their response, the factory settings were hard, and I nearly came to grief. But you are spot on, take your time, experiment with emergency stops. I’m still struggling with what I think is a poorly designed throttle. I have ridden motorbikes and driven cars, and I have yet to find a practical eScooter throttle with no dead spots, and some resistance to hard hand pressure inputs. Still, a good ride.

The wobble can be eliminated by adjusting the pre-load suspension. Have had my nami for 5 months with 800+ miles and took me 50 miles to find the best suspension and pre-load setting for myself. Ride at 40-60mph now with absolutely no wobble. For most riders adjusting the rebound with the red dials is not enough to find optimal riding performance at higher speeds.

Thanks for this tip, Jordan. We are taking another look at the suspension to see if we can further modify it for our riding style.

I’ve had my Nami for about 5 weeks now and I’ve just clocked over 1000km, I’ve noticed a very pronounced notch where it seems to lock into the steering which I never really noticed before. I would say it feels much better at high speed now (with no steering damper) but at lower speed where you need to turn the wheel it just does not feel smooth. Might be that it is just worn in now? Just not sure. Going to head down to the shop where I bought it and see what he thinks. Unfortunately it is a tech shop and there is no servicing available. Just wondering if you have the same thing.
@DESOUSAB

Had my Burn-E for a bit more than 6 months now. Delivers all the performance and range I need from a scooter. I put a 5000 lumen projector type light powered by a 12volt battery pack, as well as rechargeable turn signals so people behind me dont need to guess where I want to go. I also ride with a motorcycle helmet and jacket because I love pushing it over 90 kph.
