What We Do in the Shadows follows four vampires who’ve “lived” together for hundreds of years. That’s not clear by the end of the episode. Laszlo wrecks him later by fighting smarter. They appear equals. This isn’t unheard of in vampire media. Slayers get owned in Buffy. Spike killed… two, I think?

@@tophergrallison They are all shown to be pretty pathetic vampires really, and Guillermo single-handedly slaughtered more than 70% of the strongest vampires in New York while they all attacked him at once. Lazlo just caught him off-guard.

@@shawnbechard3680 respectfully, it's not even a stereotype thing, it's just...a thing they've said out loud with their mouths. the second episode of this season Nandor talks about admiring the bodies of other men, says he's interested in both men and women, and then the lesbian he's trying to date talks to a disguised Guillermo and immediately thinks he's in love with this male best friend he's talking about. so yeah, whether or not they end up together, the possibility is definitely there.

This scene was incredible and a long time coming for both of them. Nandor and Guillermo have been in each other's lives for 12 years; a lot of work on Guillermo's part and a lot of promises on Nandor's part. A lot of sweat, a lot of tears, and heartbreak. It was great to see Guillermo finally stand up for himself and get the respect he deserves from someone he loves and admires.

i honestly dont think i've ever been more satisfied with a tv show? like the build up to this fight was so good and this was just soooo satisfying. The only other comparison i can think of is when Dexter headbutted Doakes. But this was a full length fight. Guillermo deserved this and so did we

What I'm still confused about is whether Nandor was truly waiting for Guillermo to prove himself or if it's just another excuse so Guillermo won't complain about Nandor turning him.

I don't think he was really waiting for Guillermo but for an equal and friend. To me the "waiting" he refers to is his own life not the time spent with Guillermo

@Pete Zuhut He didn't want to leave him behind though. He clearly wanted Guillermo to come with him. The disappointment when he didn't show up was clear on his face. He called his name and looked for him. Don't forget, Nandor has abandonment issues and he probably just assumed that Guillermo abandoned him and decided not to come last minute. Based off all of his behavior after the fight and even at the train station it was obvious Nandor wanted Guillermo with him. He might have just said that Guillermo passed his "test" to save himself at first but i believe and it seems evident that what he said afterwards was genuine.

@@DevVaughn No they definitely will be. There's no way they aren't going to reunite. Paul Simms the showrunner even said in a interview recently that they were going to. Not just those two specifically, but the whole gang. The way it seems the arc is set up now for season 4 is that Nandor, while away, will end up realizing the feelings he has for Guillermo and how much he needs him (not just as a bodyguard/familiar but as himself) as well as how bad his treatment towards Guillermo was previously. And Guillermo will acknowledge his feelings for Nandor as well Also, while they are separated they will find out who they are as people outside of each other, so when they reunite it will make for a much healthier relationship. And if things are going the way they seem they are going, they'll be together romantically by the end of the season. After everything, there is just no way either of them will be able to stand not being in the other's life. They will find each other again.

I was thinking that too. I kept waiting for nandor to just run out at any point (while Guillermo was packing or taking nadia and Lazio to the docks) because he totally could have. But he didn't. He stayed and waited as long as he could. And I honestly suspect the only reason he didn't wait is because he is pretty helpless on his own. There were no backup plans. So all he knew to do was to get on the train.

I don't think it was something he planned the whole time, but he definitely understood something about him through the fight, which is that he was looking for a life companion the whole season and he already has one, and someone who can kind of revitalize that warrior spirit in him as well. that's why he promises to turn him and clearly was waiting for him, even offered to take his bag for him.

If Nandor didn’t promise to turn Guillermo into a vampire (by season 5…at least…maybe…), he could’ve gone on to possibly be the full on villain of the series and start a uprising with as many familiars as he could get and take revenge on the vampire community after being fed up with the false promise of becoming a vampire.

That's what I wonder, too! Even if it's not because of Guillermo, it could also be possible for a new character could start a familiar uprising while our main characters are away, such as someone similar to Deacon's former familiar. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Considering how the familiar community has been presented to us and how they're treated in both the movie and show by vampires in general, I wouldn't be surprised if that's an eventual progression for the show lore-wise...

I'd love to see this show's take on if there's a vampire (or several!) who secretly really gets into holidays like Christmas. Or if our little group, who are so disconnected with most of the rest of the world, suddenly discovers what Christmas is like now (vs anything they may have seen in the past or when they were mortal), and REALLY leans into it.
