I may be a little late to the party, as I just watched this video... but, wow! The time and money (repair parts) saved by your efforts in this video is enormous. Your “tame” settings allowed me to finally produce a respectable hover, 5 minutes after watching. Thank you sir!

This is about the most informative tutorial I have found on the subject. This will help me and I have been flying for over a year with an Align 450 and have bought a Nano CPS to learn forward flight. THANK YOU SIR!

Just getting into RC helicopters. I have found your videos, very real world and down to earth, which has been great. Still on a 4 channel fixed pitch, but working towards a 6 channel CP . Thank you for imparting your experience.

I know it is an old video but just wanted to say good job and to let all the folks who watch it that you are giving them some great advice. I learned to fly helicopters back in the 90's on a Kyosho Nexus 30 (glow fuel) with a rate gyro (ie no heading lock/hold) actually I still have it but I have upgraded the gyro. My best advice to anyone wanting to fly helicopters of any kind is to learn to hover in every orientation before proceeding to forward flight and I mean a prolonged hover not just a quick 10 second hover, more like a 10 minute hover. It took me a better part of a summer to get really good at hovering so be patient. Thanks for sharing !

The smaller birds are more squirrelly, but cheaper to repair. Once you can fly a Nano the bigger ones feel easier to control. I stared with the fixed-pitch MSRX in 2011 and then moved up to the Nano. today I have around 14 CP birds and still have the MSRX!

Willie, I've been watching your videos from the very beginning. I have the same Heli's you do, as well as the Pheonix flight sim. Unfortunately i was so discouraged i put it down for several years. Well with the recent current events, and time on my hands, the passion reignited, and I'm back flying again to the point where i bought another heli. So now i am at a 4 heli collection. Blade Nano, 200srx, 230sv2, and 450x. I've been spending hours on the SIM. Still a long way to go. Great videos, keep them coming. God Bless.

Excellent video. Just ordered a novus cp helicopter. Waiting for it to arrive. I started with a coaxial, but now I see that the cp is a completely different beast. Im glad the person I bought it from included several spare parts and installed the double brushless motors. I see myself crashing quite a few times... Learned a lot from the video, Thanks again.

What a great video! I did the exact same thing. I have had a nano for a little while now and so glad I got it instead of a bigger one. I had all the same criteria and bang for buck this is the way to learn.

informative and accurate in relaying the learning basics of one of the more amazing hobby genres i like to refer to RC aerial acrobatics. seeing collective pitch crafts for the first time blew my mind and were the original "hook" that got me emersed in what has now progressed to drone sport.

Willie, I got my Syma X11 quad, and six extra batteries, in the mail today, and started things off by skittering across my wood floors for an hour. Next, I worked on the beginner flying patterns you recommended for another hour, and after that, practiced hovering for quite awhile. And all of that was to see if my brain could grasp the different stick movements for RC heli / multi-copters. Just want to let you know, that I was so pleased with what I accomplished with my Syma X11 today, that I just placed an order for a V977. It should be here in about 8 days, and it's all because of your Nano CPX/S, and WLToys V977 vlogs. I'll give you a progress update in a few weeks. Following your example, I'm already planning my 450 size upgrade, and intend to make that happen sometime this Summer. Additionally, since I have already decided that I want to fly scale RC helicopters - not really an aerobatic guy - then my TREX 450 Plus DFC will be stuffed inside of an MD 500 fuselage from RC Aerodyne, and topped off with a 4 blade rotorhead and scale blades (-of course). Last, I have also decided that after accumulating about 2 years of stick time on the TREX 450, that I intend to put together a 600-700 bare framed heli, with a gimbaled RC camera, so I can offer my services to local search and rescue (SAR) groups. Hi Willie. Out of all the videos that I have watched about the nano CPX, yours is by far the best one yet. I have owned my nano for about two months. I have replaced many many parts. I thought that my fixed pitch skills would automatically transfer--NOT. After two months, I am still not comfortable at all with my flying. After watching your video, I realized a mistake that I have made. I decided that I really do need to purchase a flight simulator and a better radio than the RTF model. I wish that I would have seen your video earlier. As a CME Pastor, I find that the hobby really relaxes me and takes the stress out of my profession.

Hello Willie this is a great video! I recently got into flying Rc helis ive been flying multiroters I started out on a blade nano qx and got into a blade 350qx that ive been flying for a couple of months. Yesterday I decided to take the a leap of faith and try my skills on a CP heli so I picked up a Blade 450 x and wow! that heli is a beast I got a few sucessful hovers but flying cp is so much differnt defintly a new challenge to learn

a thin layer if epoxy painted on with a small brush works really well on the canopy , and I also glued 2 small carbon fibre rods from the tail rod to the landing skid and it stopped my tail wobble

I came across your video, I just ordered a Nano from a retailer 2 or states away just cause their Helicopter guru spent a good 30 mins on the phone and worked with me asking 100 questions, I`m a big fan of the customer help! Anyways, thanks for this awesome video! You make me more confident and make ready to test out the heli when it comes in, I wasn`t planning to get a flight SIM for the PC but you make me want to get it to see what I can make it do. I noticed the store I bought my Heli from doesnt sell many blade models past the 230S an such, I think he leaned more toward a Align model.

wow, really nice of you to take the time to put together such a great instructional video. I totally agree with your choices. I progressed to the mcpx v2, as it was just a tad bigger but still the same price (when I bought it). these little heli's can really take off on you, and do provide good learning experience, making moving up to a larger (and more docile due to size) heli a lot easier.

I get my Nano Today and out of the Box i was Able to Bind it , put some Beginner Parameters in and Fly circles , and forward/Backwards. (Using The Dx6i) Damm Great Heli , I Mean this is my Firs Flybarless ,before i had some Cheaper Koaxial , The last 3 Weeks i read an AMOUNT of Tutorials , Reviews etc . Another great video. The Blade 450 looks like an awesome machine. The simulator is a very good suggestion and I am going to get one before I ever try to fly such a nice bird in the field. It is also a great idea to get colored blades. I would probably still have some of my older helis if I had thought of that and the simulator. I intend to watch all of your videos over and over. Excellent video thank you! Im having so much fun with my Nano and sim, those hours i had in the sim and other flight sims definitively helped. Found the takeoff to be the worst in Agility and 3d mode but easy to recover once you got in the air

Hello, could I have some advice? I havent even learnt to hover with a 4channel honey bee V2 4 years ago and now I am revisiting the hobby. Should I get a Blade 200SR to practice basic flight and then buy a 450 sized Cp or should I buy this instead of an FP and learn since its really cheap and parts are cheap and widely available and i can practice in my backyard

I have the dx6e and thos wasnt listed in the settings so i just put it in there guessing. ..works but no throttle hold and had a bad reciever. .wouldnt bind right..re soldered reciever on and then it worked..mine was new old stock..so i couldnt get my money back...flying awsome

Hopefully my crashed Belt CP will be a lesson to other newcomers! To echo your point, these days I always tell people: spend lots of time on a simulator before doing real flying. I got into simulators AFTER I crashed my first heli, and it became a huge help after the fact.

A good tip for people with the stock DX4 controller.. If you dont like the throttle stick to have clicks, you can open it up and make the throttle stick nice and smooth... Way easier to keep a level hover now... Makes it feel like blade msr, mcx controller.

I watched this video last year and pretty much blew it off. Much like Willie I learned on a Blade 120 S series (mine was a 120 S), The 120SR is a bit squirrelly compared to the 120 S. I have a CPS and just purchased a mCPX BL2 (for close to $200) and a Nano S3 (about $100). Where am I going with this. Willie's advice is spot on! Thank you Willie. Liked and subbed).

Hey Willie. I found myself looking at indoor flight videos as well. You have the perfect nickname for this heli. Thanks so much for taking the time out to share your great tips! i am definitely going to set my nano cps accordingly to tame her down. Unfortunately the main rotor gear kept flying off on me. Have to go to L.H.S. to pick up another main rotor gear and apply a light drop of glue to secure it in place. I have the older phoenix flight sim but unfortunately it is for the older window O.S. and will not work on my windows 10 laptop. I myself have been looking at the T rex and T rex clones which are very nice! 1 or my next step up from the Nano rather than HH and blades. I had a WL toys V911 which I lost. I have looked at their cp versions in addition to the Walkera. XKX, mini assaults, hi sky. exceed etc. Thanks so for your own experiences, and recommendations progressing into the cp realm. I really appreciate it.Sean.
