Autumn has arrived down on the canal, and I'm enjoying many moments of sitting on top of my boat immersing myself in the tranquility and stillness, and the friendly and wise old heron, joins me on my narrowboat. My floating garden gets a new fresh colourful display of flora. Ghosts of the past make an appearance, There's beauty in the beasts! I wake up to a beautiful and mystical misty morning. And I head of to do some jobs on Jazz's boat and mooring. Sit back, relax, and get ready to experience some wonderful scenes of nature, including a fox! This is my journey, my narrowboat life vlog.
The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter.
I'm a self taught film maker, and creating these vlogs, it gives me something to do, share my personal experiences as I continue my journey cruising and living life on the canal. Please do consider supporting my channel below... Thank you Dave

I manage both of my 80+ year old parents. I have had to call ambulances for them at least 4 times this year alone for medical emergencies. I am there for them when they need me the most. This is all part of being responsible to family. At some point, that responsibility will end and staying in Houston, Texas is something I would rather not do when that time comes. Life on a narrow boat for a few years sounds like the perfect place to decompress.

I understand your situation well. I'm looking after, and caring for a family member two days a week, So despite living in such lovely locations and on my floating home, I still have lots to deal with. Found you by chance at EA. At 76 I am a widower for ten years now. I have suffered with wanderlust all my life. I started watching videos about living on the cut and had I the opportunity I would have chosen differently once I was alone. It's a tough world out there, and there's much suffering, especially now. I do this vlog as it's my hobby in a way, something to do, which brings me happiness, brings me closer to knowing who I am, closer to my heart. And through all the comments, I see that I'm helping others to find some stillness and peace. So many people have been there for me in my dark days. it's only right I'm there for those going through dark days. At the beginning, the first episodes, I often wondered why I do this? I ❤ anything English. Just happened to see your intro. VERY interesting. I may not be on a dream of cruising canals of England but I do know the freedom of no mortgage having paid off my home 20+ years ago. What a wonderful life without expenses having to be paid other than food,light and heat. Awesome video.👍 Looking forward to traveling along with you occasionally. Cheers 🙏❤️

So many thanks for the wonderful, gorgeous pictures and the music, happy sigh of contentment and gratitude! I am retiring end of October after a rich and full life in humanitarian work and memories are flooding back, as I muse over the plans my life partner and I had, for after retiring. He died unexpectedly two weeks before my fiftieth birthday, so it is a long way back. I certainly will realise some of those plans, alone 🙂.

What a bouquet of images and sounds (interspersed with philosophy). I quite enjoyed this! I was particularly enchanted by the shot of the multitude of webs on the dried grasses. I have never seen so many in one place. They were absolutely beautiful! And the "boat-scaping" was beautiful as well. You really combined the colors and textures nicely.
