Generally in NASCAR, a crash while battling for the lead will go unpunished. Penalties are given more often for premeditated crashes, like when a lapped or damaged car targets a front-running one.

quick note on why the drivers could be so out of shape. there's drivers who really cared about that and would work out like olympians. heck, jimmie johnson became a triathlete later in his nascar career. but nobody is gonna tell tony stewart to work out cause tony gonna do what tony gonna do.

30:40 It really doesn't matter how much the driver weighs, as all of the cars have to meet a "minimum required race weight" to be able to compete. If it wasn't for that, then, yes, you'd want the lightest driver you can possibly find. I've ran quite a few drag cars for people in the past b/c I only weigh 130 lbs soaking wet. edit: for every 100 lbs you can take off a "street car", it will run about one tenth quicker in the quarter mile... so in other words, a 3500 lb car with 300hp might run a 13.50et, whereas a car that weighs 2500lb with 300hp will run around a 12.50

I used to do varsity water polo for my highschool and we literally had times to train to be faked pulled under water or actually do it discretely to the other team by pulling there legs down or arm and some even pulling there damn speedo
