they definitely talked about it pre-race, and "Is your arm starting to hurt? Must be hot in there" was the cue.

Probably the worst secret phrase I've ever heard, LOL. Could that have been any more obvious?

What Bowyer did was a Singapore Sling, pulled straight from ING Renault F1's 2008 orders to Nelsinho Piquet (#30 Turner Scott Motorsports Chevrolet, Nationwide) to cause a caution to help Fernando Alonso. It wasn't known until a year later after Nelsinho's firing that he told the truth.
@wezmarauder27545 жыл бұрын
Well, it was highly suspicious and many suspected it was way too convenient and had too many coincidences with pre-race preparations and fuel strategies not to be a fix but "nothing could be proved". Not until Piquet J:r told the truth and it was confirmed. Real pity some others thought this would never be remembered or suspected if it happened in Nascar.

Another thing to consider is the fact that he's ALWAYS mad at the person who spun him out. And yet, he's quiet and calm about it, even when he tried to put the blame on Junior.

Cheating happens in auto racing far more than any other sport in the world. People talking about how the legends wouldn't have done this need to read a book. There isn't a driver or team or crew chief in NASCAR's history that hasn't cheated. It always has been and will always remain a factor in the sport.

In an unprecedented move, NASCAR officials have decided to allow 13 cars in the Chase for 2013. Jeff Gordon will be the 13th car. You made the right move, NASCAR. Kudos.

I recently read the radio communications between Vickers and his crew chief. I now also feel sorry for Brian because they essentially played him for a fool. They told him to pit and he kept asking why and they wouldn't tell him.
@RomerAlcala11 жыл бұрын
"I don't know, i think we had a flat tire or something" Clint. 1)The tire popped from the spin. Tires do that, excess friction on the tire wall makes them pop. 2) Flat front right tire won't make you spin, it does gives you understeer. Never oversteer.
@TacticalCardboard11 жыл бұрын
Yes, because you always hear "does your arm hurt?" in a race out of blue. Might as well just say "Truex is too damn slow, can you confirm?"

@corkhead011 жыл бұрын
He wasn't about to go 2 laps down, he WAS 2 laps down after the loose wheel. He had fresher tires so he got one lap back the hard way then worked his way into the lucky dog spot.

If you haven't forgot people - this is a high dollar, team sport. You have to do what is best for the team even though it sucks for those drivers it took out of the championship.
@N0Connections11 жыл бұрын
Yes I am POSITIVE. Clint Bowyer was on the lead lap after the spin. When he was on pit road during the restart he lost two laps. Vickers last lap time was 33.9 seconds and slowed down to the last car one lap down. (This was available on NASCAR.com live info during the race) These two points put Logano 1 point above the 24. Logano being in 10th place instead of Gordon allows Truex to use the wildcard instead of the 22. Bottom line MWR needed Logano in the top 10 to open up the 2nd wildcard spot.
@paulgriffin503311 жыл бұрын
Why does the in-car video freeze at the moment where he would jerk the wheel initially?? Must be a coincidence.
@TheTornado199911 жыл бұрын
I find it a lot of things suspicious. How they were talking on the radio , how he was working the wheel, and how the camera cut out when he was about to spin and came back when he had already spun. I believe Bowyer did spin on purpose to help his teammate. This is probably the biggest controversy in the 10 year history of the Chase.
@Ez_Brzy11 жыл бұрын
The hurt arm part is obviously a key phrase that they told him before the race meant spin if Truex needs help.
@MilenkaDavid11 жыл бұрын
The weird thing is that the camera got damage just when he spin out
@jerwatson795 жыл бұрын
Not "weird", that was NASCAR intentionally covering up an intentional spin

@GriggslyEntertainment11 жыл бұрын
Okay! I firmly believe from the radio communication, "Your arms tired?" and "is it hot in there?" and the fact that bowyer is a dirt track racer he doesn't just soon out! The tire didn't blow until after he was sliding from all the pressure! U can tell by the replay Jr didn't spin him out! And he spun in the front straight because it's a good place to avoid causing a big wreck! Then when they asked him, he changed the subject pretty fast! Yes I'm a die hard #24 fan, buuuuut hmm:/ I dunno
@evansjordan02411 жыл бұрын

@corkhead011 жыл бұрын
Notice where he gets into the gas the lap before the spin and the lap of the spin. He went way further off turn 4 before getting into the gas. When he did get back in the gas he stomped on it and jerked the wheel; which is an excellent way to spin the car out.
@Probowler3711 жыл бұрын
Amen to that, never been so disappointed in a race. I must admit though, NASCAR came through and handled it very well. Thanks NASCAR!
@Twinspinner11 жыл бұрын
There was radio chatter seconds before where his crew chief said (paraphrased) "The 39 is gonna win. Are your arms a bit tired? Do you need to itch something?" Jr. said the spin was bizarre, that the car just spun out without indication. Jr was no even close to Bowyer, not enough to cause a loose situation. Wallace and Evernham (champion driver and crew chief) both think it was intentional. I think that is enough to indicate an intentional spin...

@AEMoreira814 жыл бұрын
This ended up being the beginning of the end for MWR. They lost NAPA Auto Parts after the season (which at the time was one of the few full-season sponsorships; NAPA ended up moving to be Chase Elliott's primary sponsor, continuing into 2020), meaning Martin Truex Jr. got released (which actually helped his career, as he ended up in a Gibbs-related team and ultimately the main Gibbs team), and MWR never won another race.

@Twinspinner11 жыл бұрын
You have probably made the smartest comment I've ever seen on YT. I suggested that NASCAR should call the race official at 395 laps (or whatever lap was before the caution). That way the entire field would be altered, evenly, rather than NASCAR picking and choosing what drivers to penalize. That would mean Newman would win and get in the Chase, Gordon would finish 8th and get in the Chase, and Logano would finish in 26th, getting in the Chase and bumping out Truex. But I like your idea better.
@dr.danielerthal879811 жыл бұрын
I remember when Jr did the same thing and got caught when he was talking about it!! He dad said "next time keep your mouth shut" lol

Can you not see how the camera stops for a split second and then comes back showing him turning the car dead left? He did turn to the right a tad but that was just BEFORE he spun it. Might want to look at it again my friend. ;)

@noex10011 жыл бұрын
I think that whatever the crew chief said is a code/signal meaning "crash the car."
@SHA8UTIE11 жыл бұрын
That is entirely different. Dale Earnhardt Jr spun to help himself out. It wasn't to intentionally screw another driver and help a teammate. This also involved the 55 car as well and was actually pretty elaborate.
@MrZRACER11 жыл бұрын
Nascar is a team sport. In the end, truex and bowyer are in. The team chose to sacrifice a car and a finish for a championship chance. Great Karma for Jeff from Arizona last year if you ask me.
@Povariz3r11 жыл бұрын
The only people who dislike this and call it a "conspiracy" are Jeff Gordon fans who hate Clint Bowyer from what happened last year. Get over it people. Even IF he did it on purpose (which may or may not have happened), WHO CARES? He was helping a teammate get into the chase and it worked. Accept it and quit crying about it
@fortweny111 жыл бұрын

I thought it was Dale at first because that's what the commentator suggested, but Dale was miles away from that bumper.
@nickbarney656011 жыл бұрын
I was there. Dave Blaney got into Brian Vickers off of turn 2 on the last lap, which made Vickers sort of half- spin out. I think think the rest was to get back at Jeff Gordon for what he did to Boywer last year at Phoenix.

I feel like Ryan Newman & Jeff Gordon got screwed out of the chase. It's very weird that the video froze up when Clint Bowyer spun out. In my opinion, I do feel like Clint intentional spun out. You have to question the intergrity of the MWR team after this.
@88lightness11 жыл бұрын
Fair point. NASCAR is not my only hobby and with youtube taking down a lot of the races it's hard for me to go back and see every race from the past couple of season. Both Jrs. (dale and martin) are mine as well as a few others. Can't stand either Gordon or Johnson (though i did enjoy Gordon's comment about 5 time getting upset)
@MrZRACER11 жыл бұрын
The difference with Johnson is he did not wait for Montoya to go. Right when they got to the box, he went.
@jkw42711 жыл бұрын
Dale Earnhardt Jr was given a 25-point penalty, $10,000 fine and placed on probation for intentionally spinning to cause a caution in the 2004 Bristol race. Earnhardt openly admitted that he had spun because he was in danger of going a lap down as his car's handling faded due to a loose wheelnut. NASCAR president Mike Helton said at the time: "We have several rules in our rule book that have been in place for quite some time to prevent someone from altering the outcome of an event.
@godgirlsguitars11 жыл бұрын
Your arm still hurting? Is it getting hot in there? That sounds like some kind of code. Anybody listening to bowsers radio the whole race to tell me if there was something wrong with the heat and arm or it was a code as I said? Of course it's hot in the car. They are typically 140 degrees
@dariuswilliams674511 жыл бұрын
It was 2 years ago in 2011 that this happened, not last year.
@idontknow916111 жыл бұрын
This will be forgotten within 3 weeks. RCR did the same thing a few years ago when Menard spun to bring out a caution so Harvick could win this very same race. But 3 weeks later, nobody remembered or cared....
@Myst3rium11 жыл бұрын
It is pretty obvious that it was intentional, and this is coming from a Bowyer fan. You can see him let off early going into turn 3, probably so Jr. would get up to his bumper and it would look better. Not that it helped.
@justcallmejoeable11 жыл бұрын
