@@user-gu1hl2kx2k Dale Jr, a "liberal"??? Why do you say that? Give us at least 2 or 3 examples, please. Like most old school lifelong nascar fans, I quit watching nascar racing entirely, years ago. But back when I was a diehard fan, I don't recall any drivers being liberals. Hell, at that point, there was NEVER even a democrat president to show up at a nascar race, only republicans. By the way, I'm a staunch conservative Christian, but I am NOT "a republican"..........I hate all politicians, they're all crooks. But modern day liberals are by far the worst. Sick freaks. it's upsetting how the sport will uproot and ruin almost anything to create excitement at this point ... nothing is sacred anymore, history largely ignored and avoided.... yet the thing that will pull back the MOST fans (and probably revive nascar to a large extent) is to just go with the most obvious solution that literally every racing series since the dawn of time uses : season-long points system, most points win...

It’s sad that the sanctioning body made Ty Norris their scapegoat. But is anyone ever really surprised? It simplifies everything to have just 1 guy to point a finger at. I’m 100% sure they didn’t expect Norris to rat out every single team that was pulling on-track stunts to get their teammate an advantage here or there. I wish he would’ve GONE PUBLIC with his intel, and further humiliated Drunk Brian France. What's amazing about this is that you had a few teams that night doing stuff like the 55 team. The 15 gets all the attention but no one realizes that David Gilliland and another squad I believe had been making deals as well, and they were investigated by NASCAR afterwards too. That race as a whole, though, was just a blunder for many, many reasons. I hope we don't see another mess of a time like that again but knowing the competitiveness of everyone I doubt that that was the last of the scandals to take place in our sport's history. At least it gave us the opportunities to watch good ass videos like this (and others) about it down the line.

You didn't need to be on the tower to see it. It still happens today getting other team drivers wins to 'lock in'. This totally exposed the stupidity of such a points system and NASCAR only doubled down on it. My 4 year old could run NASCAR better than it's current leadership. Damn i was hoping he'd talk more about Bowyer spinning... how i remember it: No matter what happened, Kahne was a lock for the chase due to 2 wins and below 10th in points (at the time it was top 10 plus highest winners between 11th and 20th in points). Newman took the lead from Edwards with 8 or 9 to go; a win would give him 2, and knock Truex out for sure. Bowyer spins, caution comes out and about everyone pits; Newman loses the lead. From there, Logano was ALSO behind Gordon in points, meaning Logano was 11th and Gordon 10th, this meant Logano would be the 12th man in the chase due to being higher in points than Newman or Truex. So Vickers pitting put Logano back to 10th and Gordon to 11th (Gordon didn't have a win yet that year). When all was said and done, IIRC Truex ended up tying Newman in points and got the tie breaker based on 2nd place finishes, and Logano beat Gordon by 1 to be 10th in points. The Front Row car of Gilliland (or maybe Ragan) helped Logano, and I believe they got fined afterwards, and that's what Ty was referring to there. Not sure what Hendrick car he was referring to "struggling", I'm guessing Kahne?

Look up the Richmond race scandal, I don’t remember what year this was. Basically Michael Waltrip Racing radioed to their drivers, had one pit for no reason other than to manipulate points and had another intentionally spin his car out to bring out a yellow flag. Doing so put their other driver into the playoff format and knocked out a driver. When they caught wind of what MWR did they fined and penalized them, I don’t remember if the points penalty itself was enough to remove their car from the playoff chase or they outright removed them but they gave the spot to Jeff Gordon who was knocked out due to their manipulation of the race.
@TruckDrivinGamer
@TruckDrivinGamer 3 жыл бұрын
Adding to rundown- the driver who was removed from the playoffs was Martin Truex Jr, who was sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts. Napa was so disappointed by what happened that they dropped their sponsorship of Michael Waltrip Racing's car, causing Martin Truex Jr to lose that ride and possibly his career in Cup racing. Fortunately, he ended up getting a ride later with Furniture Row Motorsports, where he struggled for a couple years, until they formed an alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing and he went on to win a championship at Furniture Row before moving to JGR. Meanwhile, Michael Waltrip Racing ended up closing their doors after losing not only Napa's sponsorship, but a few others as well and couldn't afford to continue racing.

"I don't think anyone from MWR will ever tell the full truth of that day." Probably not. I'm sure Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus will never ever admit to doing precisely what Ty Norris and Brian Vickers did at the exact same time. Hendricks is WAAAY too powerful for NASCAR to accuse of anything. Hendricks has manipulated the President of the United States to absolve him of criminal acts that he was sentenced to the Federal Penitentiary for. He's like "The Godfather" with all the power he wields and the "favors" he bestows on his friends. What chance does Brian Franz have against him calling him out for cheating in NASCAR? Two teams do the exact same thing at the exact same time and one team owner (MWR) gets fined one of the largest fines in the history of NASCAR and is disgraced. The other team owner (HMS) gets NASCAR to change the rules on the spot to allow his driver into the playoffs when the rules said no. I realize that Rick Hendricks is one of the most respected owners in NASCAR, just not by me.

Spingate 2013 was the beginning of the end for me. Started with Clint Boyer not manning up and admit it was intentional, (NASCAR scrambled the incar camera when Clint cranked the wheel left), then they wouldn't act like an impartial governing body (to protect Toyota, I assume). Cancelled my season tickets to 2 tracks and went from never missing a telecast to occasionally watching and haven't been to a race since. Won't even get started on TV start times, The Chase, Seg Racing, Drivers buying their seat, ect. ect. ect.

Just another reason I haven't watched NASCAR for years. It's more like the WWE where the company controls the story line. True, they cannot make sure a certain driver, owner or manufacturer wins a race but they selectively enforce rules or change rules to effect outcomes. Get you some DIRTVision. Your choice of three different live events tonight and 2 different live events tomorrow. No bullshit politics, no playing favorites.
