Having attended my first ever race at Fremont Speedway when I was just 4 years young, going back last Saturday night was, not only returning to my roots, but pure magic. It didn't hurt that NASCAR Cup Series driver Alex Bowman was in the house with his No. 55 Alex Bowman Racing (ABR) Ally-sponsored sprint car, the same company that sponsors his NASCAR ride at Hendrick Motorsports. Since 1951, Fremont Speedway at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds has been putting out quality dirt track racing to the delight of all...enjoy some grassroots racing Fremont Speedway style!

I sure appreciate the fact that you know your history of sprint car drivers. Names like; Jan Opperman, Rick Ferkle, King Kinser, Sammy Swindell all Sprint Car Hall of Fame members indicates that you have been around sprints for a while now. I am 75 and saw my first midget race at age 13 at a county fair in Ohio. I have been to many tracks from coast to coast over the years. I have seen A.J. Foyt in a midget, big car, sprint car, NASCAR and Indy car. Something that I am very proud of.

I'd be proud of that too. What an interesting history of auto racing that you got to see! I've been around sprint car racing most of my life, from 8 years young on up. I got away from it for a while when I served as ARCA's PR Director for 22 years; but with that out of the way, I'm reconnecting my love of open-wheel racing. My step-dad's sprint car won the 1973 USAC National Sprint Car championship in 1973 with Rollie Beale driving. Thanks for your support Mike...please drop by anytime!

Gug is his uncle. Roland keegan is his father. There was mervin, Gug, Roland that I can think of right now they are all brothers. Their families growing up in racing are trying to keep it going. 3 of my kids are Keegan’s. Keegan’s in this area are very prominent with BIG families. Keegan’s either own, wrench, or something at Fremont speedway. Gug raced also his number was p51. That reasoning was he dealt with p51’s in the military.
