Let me start of by saying....YOUR MOM DOES NOT AGE. I enjoyed hearing about your Christmas traditions. We treat Santa like any other cartoon character. My son knows he’s isn’t real but he’s fun to enjoy around the holidays.

I was also raised knowing Santa wasn’t real. It didn’t affect me one bit, and I find it interesting that some think you’re spoiling Christmas if you don’t encourage children to be believe Santa is real. Mind boggling lol My toddler will grow knowing the actual reason for Christmas but is free to enjoy Santa themed movies and books, etc. such as you’re doing. Merry Christmas!

My mom passed away 4.5 years ago and her name is Wendy! 💕 she was very pretty like your mom and had such a sweet spirit too. I was so comforted watching this and hearing about your Christmas traditions. It brought back beautiful memories of Christmas with my family. All of them are in heaven so it was nice to go back and remember those times. :) I wanted to edit this to make sure I didn’t seem negative. That wasn’t my intention 💕 I was truly blessed by this video! 🎄

We actually just celebrated Saint Nicholas day yesterday! We leave our shoes by the front door the night before and Saint Nicholas comes and fills them with gold chocolate coins and little treats. It’s an orthodox Christian tradition :)

Thank you for sharing! I really like your approach to Santa. I remember being terrified of Santa when I was a kid but as soon as I knew he was pretend, I suddenly found magic in it all. So awesome Natalie, thank you for inspiring me to have a new way to describe Santa to my child. I wasn’t sure how I was going to approach it. Since we had decided as christians my husband and I, to not teach them he was real. But knowing they will see him everywhere during the season and ask about him, this is a new way for us to introduce him. The cartoon way doesn’t take the focus of Jesus and I like that. Christmas food traditions are so tied to the season... my family usually makes Brisket. However this year we took food to a vote and majority voted for Beef Enchiladas. At first I was like WHAT?! But now I’m kinda excited to switch it up. Also, definitely love that each of you and your siblings each have a special treat that you make. Going to start that tradition when my kids are old enough. We draw names too! And take turns opening gifts together rather than a free for all.

I am so glad you talked about Santa. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and we have discussed whether or not to promote the belief of Santa. He is adamant about not promoting it. At first I was a bit apprehensive but now looking at it from the other perspective I am now able to understand and that is what we are planning to do.

I loved this Q&A! I think we need a Q&A about how Wendy handled/thrived/survived being a mom of FIVE. I'm from the 20-something mom gang, and there's definitely a fear amidst most women my age of having more than Two kids. (And I'll raise my hand, because I want Three but feel a little uncertain myself.) There's not anything wrong about having Two kids! I just want to know how Wendy delved into raising a large family?

Yes! I would love a video about that! I have two kids myself right now and my husband and I would love three. (We would love even more than that, 4-5, but we think we could realistically handle/afford 3.) But anyways, now that we have our two...a boy and a girl...it seems scary to move past that even though we know that’s really what we would love. I would love to know your moms advice and how she did it!

We used to say that the red lights on towers were Rudolph too! Also, I incorporated your mom’s baklava recipe into my Christmas treats this year and it turned out so well! I’m bringing it to a family Christmas party tomorrow!

We do the same thing for Christmas gifts for our large family! Drawing names is the way to go! 😍 It allows us to keep Christ and family at the center of the holiday instead of focusing on shopping/giving/receiving gifts!

I grew up knowing Santa was a real person from long ago. I never grew up believing he was a real entity, because my parents were afraid that once we found out about Santa not being "real" we would question whether Jesus was real or not. It sounds like I grew up similar to how you did-- realizing Santa was a cartoon but we still got gifts from Santa. We also recognized that Santa's handwriting looked an awful lot like my mom's handwriting 😂

Merry Christmas really enjoyed this video I am closer to your mama‘s age and can appreciate some of the things she said especially about walking around and hearing Christmas music with Jesus‘s name being mentioned and people not going ballistic I agree with her that it is a blessing to hear our saviors name in a public environment praying for your grandparents and your family I hope you have a happy safe and blessed holiday season thank you for the video

I’m the oldest of 9 children. My parents dealt with Santa in exactly the same way. And it’s how I’m approaching Santa with my children now. Santa is a fun little addition to the season, but he is certainly not the focus!
