This week, on this educational podcast, the guys have a long discussion about whether cats can be trained to be spies. Also, Brian makes the case for why he would be the best secret agent, Nate gets mad at Johnny Carson for calling out a mind reader, and Holly enters the room right when everyone is becoming paranoid.

Now that Dusty is on I can't help but think TN version of King of the Hill. Especially when they do rounds of "yeah". Nate is Hank(boyscout), Dusty is Dale (general distrust in the system), Brian is Bill(but not sad like Bill), and Aaron is Boomhauer( young hotshot who speaks in words that are difficult to understand).

I have never been more proud of a grown man reading as I was when Nate did the Bionic Reading. I was driving and listened in disbelief, pushing my head all the way into the headrest when he was reading. Literally taken aback. Even with that little wobble, Nate should be proud to finally be reading at an 8th grade level.

Watching y'all from Australia. Mate I can't stop laughing every time you say 'daggummit'. Keep it up guys, like alot of other listeners I've got a stressful job and I watch Nateland cause I know I don't have to think. Just fun stuff, most of it so incorrect it's hilarious. But no thinking required, no inappropriate stuff so I can listen any time I want, no politics or whatever. It is such a de-stresser every day. Watching each latest episode but only found this a few weeks or so ago after watching Nate's standup so I"m starting from the beginning as well. Watching Nate blaze through that paragraph with bionic reading was the closest I’ve ever come to watching a miracle happen. It felt like the moment in the Disney movie where the underdog finally reaches his full potential. Someone needs to edit that with some heroic music playing in the background. What a moment.

So my husband had a professor in college that was a former spy. I heard lots of stories about him, and one day while at a chick-filé my husband pointed him out to me and introduced me to "Bob" the spy. The funny thing is I was standing 4 feet from him and did not notice him even when my husband tried to point him out. He just blends into the backdrop totally. Bob was the most unremarkable person in the room. So yeah I think Breakfast would be the best spy from Nateland.

I was watching Winnie the Pooh with my 4 year old son the other day, and I realized that you guys are the real-life version of the characters. Nate is Pooh: a little slow, and always looking for something sweet to eat. Bates is piglet: always worried, but the only reason anything ever gets done. Aaron is Rabbit: thinks he’s the smartest of the bunch, but the audience really knows the truth. Dusty is a bit of a wildcard, but he definitely gives off Eeyore vibes. Love the pod! Love this topic! In the 90’s, a distant relative of my husbands was a high ranking military official, and he was found dead in a hotel room with a briefcase cuffed to his hand. Supposedly, an autopsy was performed by federal agents and their reported cause of death was natural causes via a heart attack. They wouldn’t let the family perform an independent autopsy, and his body was cremated within a day of his death, and the family had no say. His wife later found out he worked with the CIA. So many of his records are sealed, and we’ll likely never know what he was actually involved in or what happened. My husband theorizes that he was killed by a foreign spy, and the government didn’t want that information getting out to other adversaries, and that’s why they rushed everything and buried the ordeal.

We went to see Nate in Portland Maine in the fall and then again in Providence in April. I had thought seriously about yelling "Let's Go Folks" when you walked out on stage, but I decided against it because I didn't want to be one of many who did it. Much to my surprise, when you walked out no one said it. So, I panicked and yelled it out. You acknowledged it, which was great, while my wife was cringing in her seat. Later in the show you mentioned the Karate Kid and the guy RIGHT BEHING ME yelled out "Sweep the leg". You noticeably cringed. All I could think for the rest of the show was that you would think that I yelled both of those things. Then I felt bad cause I feel like if I hadn't yelled first, he wouldn't have felt like we are just yelling stuff out. Anyway, sorry about that. Great shows anyway. Love the Podcast and love that you added Dusty as a regular.

I bet Weber is the whistling heckler at Dusty’s shows. Somebody’s trying to keep the man down and Web’s acting a little suspicious.

my daughter refers to this podcast as 'what dad listens to when he doesn't want to think'. I have been thinking and have a fan theory I'd like your feedback on, a theory that was strengthened in the last live show when Aaron 'friendship class' Grill-boy briefly wondered why Antarctica is no considered a country even though Australia is. Here's my theory: Stanford University is a silent sponsor and Nate secretly gets money every time he holds up Aaron as a product of Notre Dame. Thanks for your podcast, it has been a great mind break. Side note, I saw Nate in Des Moines right before the pandemic, it was the show with the swooping bat in the middle of the set. I hope Biscuit and the Poster boy of Notre Dame can make it here sometime as well.

Rob Lowe was on a show called The low report it was like a solving mystery sort of show with his sons. They went and interviewed some people that were remote viewers in that CIA remote viewer program and it was a pretty interesting episode.

Aaron thinking: 1: That these guys are so old that personal computers filled entire rooms of their house when they were growing up… And 2: That all three of these guys grew up with personal computers, period 🤭🤭🤭

With all the movies mentioned how did you all fail to mention the classic, "The Man Who Knew Too Little" starring Bill Murray? Yes, it's unrealistic. But Murray was great and I find it hilarious. So many quotable lines and memorable moments.

What's also funny about Aaron trying to get people to believe that he traveled back in time to stop 9/11, is that if someone asks what he does for a living in the future, he'll have to say "I'm a stand-up comedian in the future." All the more reason not to believe him!

I unironically greet the class with Hello Folks or Alright Folks let's make a start, just because it's gender neutral, so better than guys, lads etc. and it's laid back enough and formal enough to just strike the balance, but since I've started listening to this pod I get a chuckle out of it that I'm fairly sure nobody else understands.
