I started watching/listening around episode 20 after watching all Nate’s standup on KZfaq and have watched ever since. Around episode 45 my 4 year old started taking up to an hour to fall asleep at night so I took to listening while putting her to bed. This turned into me falling asleep in my daughter’s room listening to you guys. Fast forward to Thanksgiving driving to see family I haven’t seen since pre-Covid and decided to listen to last week’s episode as I drove. Apparently my subconscious now think hearing Nate, Aaron and Baby Brother means it’s time to sleep and my eyes got heavy on the drive. Thanks for always being there whenever I need you guys, whether a good laugh or a nap.

The Roanoke Island/Croatoan Disappearance makes sense when you realize North Carolina is 2nd for most Hurricanes. Native Americans refused to live year-round on those barrier islands (which is why the English settled there). Most likely a massive stormed destroyed their settlement and the Croatoan Tribe helped the survivors. There were legends of "blue-eyed" Indians who they thought were descendants of the English settlers decades later...

Yeah that's the overwhelming consensus. The surviving members of The colony moved in with the indigenous population and assimilated and interbred with them.

I was born in England and am a naturalized U.S. citizen. In soccer they play with a running clock that never stops. Stoppage time is all the time added up that the officials consider "wasted time." So, if after a goal the other team celebrates for 2 minutes, that's "wasted time" and is added to stoppage time at the end of the game. The time it takes to make substitutions. Carrying an injured player off the field. The referee can add stoppage time for anything he deems wasted time. So if the other team is using stalling defensive tactics, like North Carolina's 4-corner tactic in basketball for example, the referee can warn them and if they don't stop he'll add whatever time he thinks they're stalling to stoppage time. What's strange is the fans don't know how much stoppage time there is at the end of the game ... only the referee knows. Hope this helps.

If we could figure out a way to pause the clock for celebrations, injuries, etc. I think we could really change sports...
@TheLaPeers

Former college soccer player here to comment on stoppage time! Soccer has a running clock, meaning that it doesn’t stop for injuries, penalties, or when the ball goes out of bounds. Because of this, fake injuries, and other time wasting measures could be used to adversely effect the game. The ref keeps track of how much time is wasted on injuries and other “stoppages of play.” And that time is then inserted back into the game at the end of each half as “stoppage time.” If Breakfast had looked a bit earlier, he would have seen an official on the sideline in between the two benches with a light yo sign indicating the added time (this same sign indicates which players are being subbed). There have even been some very famous games won in stoppage time! Look up the 1999 champions league final, where David Beckham assisted two goals on corner kicks in stoppage to win the game!

This podcast is the BEST. Just bought tickets to see Nate in Atlanta in March! It'll be a Christmas present to my husband, although it's really for me. :-) Btw, Bell's Palsy isn't a mini stroke. Hello folks! It’s definitely clear that nobody has watched in wonder of the show that is Ted Lasso or y’all would’ve know right away a soccer field is called a pitch. It’s actually called a pitch because of cricket. Also, congrats to Batesmobile on becoming a father in future. Love the podcast. The fact I have to Google some of the things that are said on the podcast is exactly why I keep coming back every week.

Ned and Dale Jarrett are my cousins. Every time we had a Jarrett family reunion, people would be decked out in their merchandise, hoping they’d attend. They never showed up all the years I went, but my family never gave up hope. My grandma even had a life-size cardboard cutout of Dale in her bedroom until well into her 80s. It used to give me a heart attack when I’d walk into her room!

At the 1 hour 54 minute mark you can clearly see the frustration of 2 hours of jibber jabber begin to boil over for Blueberry Beignet followed immediately by his short annoyed laugh as he continues looking at his 20 pages of Wikipedia notes on North Carolina. It reminds me of that SNL skit a few years ago when a bunch of dudes are having a fun time and the odd man out randomly excitedly interrupts with something to be a part of the fun and all the other dudes just stare at him.

I appreciate the honor of leaving Nateland dumbfounded with my last name. The pronunciation is “hi-zen-true-it” and it’s been a problem my whole life. I never listened to roll call on the first day of school growing up because I could just say “here” as soon as I heard a long pause from the teacher. My dad told me the name means House of Trout, which I’m pretty sure he made up, but it’s what I tell people now because I can’t think of anything better than that.

My dachshund growing up had Bell's palsy and the whole right side of his face drooped and he couldn't close his eye completely on that side. Please, please get more shows scheduled for Salt Lake City -- I just tried to get tickets for myself and my family and they didn't have any available. I listened to this one without watching it and was convinced from listening to it that Jon Reep would look exactly like Todd Packer. I came to KZfaq and was disappointed. Oh well, maybe he could win a sound alike contest with a David Koechner impression.

I always called jelly, but I have since found out that I’ve actually been eating jam the whole time. I’m not usually a chunky guy (Besides the fact that I’m 300 pounds), I guess it just became a comfort thing; but until I had to buy it yesterday I didn’t know the difference

Been here from the beginning, I would venture to say this is the LEAST amount of time ever spent on the chosen topic!! That’s why I love this informational program! Keep up the good work!! Love y’all!

Just sat down and watched an episode of Hot Ones and couldn’t help but wonder if y’all could make it through THAT challenge and by y’all I mean Borat and Nate because I doubt my dude Aaron would have much trouble.

I know I’m 11 months behind but the Finnish dude saw a baseball game and immediately said “I can make this better.” There’s a short documentary about it on KZfaq, Finnish baseball is awesome!

Last year, I commented on how my husband was wearing a winter hat with a pom-pom on top. I told him I'd really only ever seen women wear such hats. Apparently it really stuck with him because yesterday, he sent me a clip of this week's Nateland episode and pointed out how Nate was rocking a pom-pom hat. I'm still not sold -- what do you all think? Can pom-pom hats be for men, too?

Good day folks, when my dad heard they were changing the coca cola recipe he was in college. He rushed out and bought 4 six packs to hold on to convinced they would be worth a fortune some day. We still have one of the 6 packs and each can today is worth a whopping $1.50.
