It's just Nathan trying to push someone as far as they'll go without actually trying to ruin them. I think if I remember from the radio session it was only valid for the first 25 people claiming it, so it would have only cost 2500 for a massive amount of publicity.

Polygraphs are pseudo-science created by the same dude who created wonder woman. They don't actually work. Police apply the test as an extra layer of psychological pressure, which actually could totally work.

@@ach3456 I totally agree. The best way to catch criminals is to apply as much pressure to the first suspect as possible. Therefore we should assume the first person to call in the crime is guilty and then hold them for 32 days while questioning them with a lie detector, preferably with meals only every 48 hours, under 500 calories.

*Spoiler**Spoiler**Spoiler* In the second part people do go and a lot of people actually liked the burgers but then you had a few who went their just for the money and he really did pay them off $100 each person. He even went as far as to see them eat it and look at their real reactions and they went over the top for the money. Older people and a young group of teens faked it, one One guy even started yelling about getting a lawyer for $5 burger. Total he lost 6k which was all he had....

Of course they were scamming for the $100, but tbf it’d being literally the best burger they’d ever tried was very unlikely, which was precisely the point. The premise was intended to fail, which is the source of the skit’s comedic value.

On of the few redeeming qualities of L.A. are the burger joints. L.A. has some great burgers. Umami burger, The Counter, In-N-Out, Hamburger Haven, Fat Burger, Go Burger, Apple Pan, Pie and Burger, Little Bear, 50/50 Burger... That's not including the dinners and burger trucks.

Actually this one isn't all that wild compared to the usual Nathan ideas. In the UK, for example, Tesco offered double your money back if you returned any of their beef products. You'd be surprised but most customer are honest and don't claim unless they feel entitled to.
