My friend u r very right, he is an actual honest person. Quick tip for knife defense bro, if a Donny is attempting to attack u with a knife, either in a downwards or upwards movement, attempt to prevent the knife from getting into your distance by blocking or grabbing the wrist. If u can stop the wrist just by grabbing it the offender will be too busy trying release his wrist that he’ll leave the rest of his body unguarded. That’s when u can strike the face and end it there, then run and call the cops. I tried this with my older brother where he had a red marker with the lid off and he tried to Stab me, and it actually worked, i didn’t punch his face merely palmed his face away

Practical, realistic, easy to follow, and starts with the second and third best pieces of advice: Comply and run away. As Rodney below me has stated the best possible way to deal with a violent encounter is to be aware enough to not get in one. Also, a nice added touch is despite you seeming to be largely Taekwondo based practitioner (Amazing control on the kicks, holy shit man) the content steers towards much less flexibility intensive techniques. Great video man, earned a sub.

One problem with kicking is that it is much easier for the attacker to catch your kick than your punch. Also, if he stabs your leg, you won't be able to run anywhere. The best bet would be to first distract the opponent, fx. by throwing something at him or otherwise keeping his focus away from your leg before trying to kick in the stomach or "bollocks" 🤣.
@gurkyboi2 жыл бұрын
As a last resort u could block or grab the wrist, not the knife if the distance is far enough and then strike in the face as they’ll be to busy trying to release the knife hand that their body will remain unguarded. (Also amazing to see jack grealish taking time off his training to help rising you tubers 😂😂)

In Taekwondo, I was taught to block a overhand right punch in a street situation, when they swing the punch , grab the inside of their arm, pull them closer towards you and elbow strike them in the side of the head, after you can do combos to get them away from you: elbow strikes, eye pokes, throat jabs, gut punches, low kicks (because they are really close to you) and stuff like that. Remember to uses your blocks too, they are important and essential for defence in a street situation. Hope this was helpful.
@eulogioalbertorobles41332 жыл бұрын
The only to times I had to defend myself in a street scenario I used a yoko-geri/side kick to end the confrontation. When trained correctly is a very useful thing to have in your pocket. It does not only create a ton of space between you and your opponent but also you can deal serious damage if you catch them with your heel. But at the same time, when I think of what could have happened if I missed those kicks, shivers go down my spine. I pulled of those side kicks because I had tons of reps in my muscle memory and thank lord it worked. So my advice it would be to use only what you have actually trained, practice it realistically and, like you showed, just try to stay safe.

@@craftyskeleton4895 kinda hard to explain 😂😂😂 but to make the story short somehow my smart ass managed to put itself in the wrong situation with the wrong people twice. The first time some dude wanted to fight me and he was considerably bigger than me, but before he could grab me or overpower me I caught him on the ribs with a quick sidekick and dude went down. The second time was similar but the person wanting to fight me was in a group so I was outnumbered. I managed to sidekick the first guy and that made his friends hesitant to attack me, which created the perfect time for some people to arrive and help me.

Situational awareness or presense of mind, quick physical reactions or reflexes, mental strength or toughness, composure or self-confidence, resourcefulness, the instinct or the will to fight back and defend yourself, knowing when to fight back or when to just run away as fast as you can, avoiding people places and situations that potentially lead to heated altercations or violent encounters, and your martial arts/fighting/self-defense skills and techniques (if you have any or some) which you have spent long periods of time practicing and training, can drastically increase your chances of successfully defending yourself and surviving potentially violent self-defense encounters. Hello Bro, I am from Argentina and I have had to defend myself several times from thieves with bladed weapons and generally if you resist, the first thing they try to do is stab you and always The reflex of moving to the side has always served me, grabbing the arm in which the knife is held with one hand and at the same time giving it a hook, always trying to go for the knockout, since in Argentina is the thief who ends up knocked out or you get stabbed. PS: I know it's not the best defense method but it worked for me and I wanted to share it and good video

One thing that I have actually used (Thankfully just once in my life, because I would never want to be in that situation again) from my kempo karate days is reactive training. When we did our self-defense drills, what was most important was reaction time. We were taught to realize when fighting was the only option and to strike first with the philosophy that any hesitation would give your opponent an even bigger advantage. If you surprise your opponent, your chances of getting out alive are much higher, but you have to be the first one to act, not react. I can't remember where the quote came from, but it's so incredibly true: "A fighter trains for multiple 3 minute rounds, but a criminal will condense that into 10 seconds of furious brutality."

Great video! Only, at 9:41, it's problematic to block on the wrist, he can bend his elbow to counter quickly to the face, better to block slightly below the elbow. Also, for the take down, people should know it's not just a backwards push but a full body twisting force with core strength and leverage chaining up from the feet.

I love the video. If there's anything i'd change it's the judo throw/takedown you demonstrate at 9:45. In judo that technique is actually a sacrificial throw. Unless you're an actual ninja you will often fail, trying to take down a resisting opponent by just applying pressure with your arm from that position. I'm absolutely not saying it can't be done, but what i'm saying is that if your setup is not perfect there is a considerable risk that both of you are going to end up on the ground together using that particular takedown. In judo, most times you actually sit yourself down from that same position, taking your opponent with you. For this reason, even though i'm actually a decent judoka, i would opt for almost any other simple takedown. Leg sweeps can be hard to learn at first because of the timing required, but they can actually be really good in street fights because they tend to leave you in a more defensible position, should you fail to take your opponent down.

I liked what you said mostly but I feel I should add being someone who has dealt with a knife attack Most aggressors will conceal the knife and when they attack with a knife it’s fast and very dangerous most victims don’t realise they’re getting stabbed I can’t stress the importance on training up your awareness on what’s going on around you in my case I’m making sure when I’m faced with a potential attacker my awareness is switched on I’m watching their body language I’m listening what are they saying are they being aggressive are they angling off are they trying to hide one or both of their hands if so I’m assuming they have a weapon a knife at that moment I’m either running if I have that option or If my exits are blocked then I’m doing what I had to do when two teens blocked my path to the train station 7 years back and threatened to gut me I’m going preemptive the moment I even see a threatening gesture or they even say anything relating to knives. Going up against a knife is nothing to fool around with either give them what they want! Run if you can or if you don’t have a choice go preemptive if you don’t have a choice

With any of the scenarios you showed - with the gun you seemed to think about it - keep in mind your attacker can move also. Like with the knife you can only keep him away for so long until he - or from the get go - gets a hold of your leg. The wild punches, try to go for a headbutt if you go inside. Bound to rock him more than other techniques. And the headlock, if it's a good one you won't get out of it. If it's a bad one, you will struggle because he can move with you.
