Don’t give up. There is always a dear old one who enjoys company and kind words and deeds. I am 74 and have cared for 2 dear old ones who had no one left. My friend now is 96 - surviving on social security. I help financially a bit. But most important we share life stories and enjoy simple pleasures. The rewards are huge - for both. its due to the break down of traditional families. i grew up my grand parents and even my great grand parents still in the home. it's not hard to converse with someone you grow up with, trust and love. but certain powers do not want this practice to continue and they work tirelessly to destroy it. what we're left with is chaos, ignorance, anger and despair. the end result is a lonely death. people, regardless of race or culture or country, have been persuaded that they must grind away at jobs they hate to pay for houses they can't even live in. and feed people they rarely see. it's a sick, demonic system designed to destroy. and every time we enroll children into the public schools we continue to help it destroy us. we don't need new cars, new phones (both made by slaves in foreign countries) we don't need to keep up with everyone else. we dont need fast food, movies or music or tv shows that mock us and make jokes out of our struggles. we need our families. we need healthy food and WE cook ourselves. we need grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles and all our cousins to come over on sunday to have dinner with us, to talk and share our stories. no one should ever be abandoned to a nursing home.... there's very little nursing. they should be called DYING HOMES.

The problem is that people have succeeded in shaming the west out of believing in the validity of their hearts and our religion. In our modern climate American Natives are very much sacred cows and so they can’t be so easily condemned for simply saying the truth. Very very few believe anything but this however the hierarchy the people in charge are capable of punishing those for simply speaking out and if you don’t have the luxury of being a sacred cow of inter-sectionalism you could lose your degree, your job, and even be threatened legally. The insanity is not with the people it’s with the institutions. Even the people in the institution especially higher up don’t believe what they say there are plenty of secret recordings of them laughing at the ideas of modernity but having a Stalinist strategy to punish anyone at anytime for simply being themselves being honest that is an irresistible power for those who seek power. Just as surgeons tend to be people who actually enjoy cutting flesh with a scalpel (otherwise they couldn’t do their job very well) people in positions of authority of most often those who want power of others. It’s not forgotten wisdom that’s the problem it’s the systems will to power. It’s the corruption of those willing to tell you the 1 + 1 is 3 if it means they can tell people what to do and it’s the constant cowardice of people who believe if they simply keep their heads down that it will pass. But it has not passed in less than six years we now have Yale the most important educational institution in the world ignoring the SAT because of inclusivity. Every kid applying knows full well who is smart and what intelligence is but you can bet they will pretend to be every marginalized group in the books if it gets them a spot. I’m puzzled. The Huichol people inhabited (and still extensively inhabit) Mexico’s western Sierra Nevada and northern highlands, very far from the Yucatán peninsula (which is Mayan). Was your father originally Huichol but somehow ended up in the Yucatán, before coming to California?

The old ways when it came to gender in Dine' culture was NOT binary. Traditional Dine' recognized 4 genders & usually valued their 3rd & 4th gendered people highly. I'm not Navajo but I've learned weaving (I'm awful at it). But I go to gatherings and I ask people to show me, teach me and exchange information. I mainly do medicine, and people are often interested in that. Most people LOVE to teach, so don't be afraid to ask. The worst thing that happens is they say no, and you're no worse off than you were before.
