ANDREI MARTYANOV is an expert on Russian military and naval issues. He was born in Baku, USSR in 1963. He graduated from the Kirov Naval Red Banner Academy and served as an officer on the ships and staff position of the Soviet Coast Guard through 1990. He took part in the events in the Caucasus which led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the mid-1990s he moved to the United States where he currently works as Laboratory Director in a commercial aerospace group. He is a frequent blogger on the US Naval Institute Blog. He is the author of Losing Military Supremacy, The (Real) Revolution in Military Affairs, and Disintegration: Indicators of the Coming American Collapse.

Andrei’s depth of understanding about military, geopolitical and geoeconomic subject matter is extremely broad based and quite profound! His interviews are always highly informative and incredibly enlightening for all of us! I believe his critique of the neocon ideology is one of the most comprehensive ever done! He enumerates all of the problems that have sprung forth in the West , over the last 5 decades, from blind adherence to a completely misguided and misinformed mindset, on the part of the neoconservatives , and all their supporters! This irrational ideology has been responsible for so much needless suffering, death and destruction around the globe, with nothing positive to show for it whatsoever. Quite appalling that this still drives foreign policy decisions of the U.S. and its Western Allies to this day. Thank you Nima for inviting Andrei Martyanov back as a guest, on your wonderful podcast! We all get a much better perspective on events unfolding around the world, after listening to Andrei.
