I want to challenge that a bit, but first I'll agree it is never a blanket exuse. But, humans are all unique, especially in their brain chemistry and histories. Sometimes things that would have no effect on one person, would cause another serious mental anguish. I think it's both nature and nurture, but most* psychology lends far more credence to nurture having the largest effect on mental health / illness. * looking at exacerbation OR cause of mental illness and bad outcomes.

I think a small percentage of people actually think they can use the *cruel things happened to me in my childhood* as an excuse to do evil themselves sometime down the road. I dont understand this as i myself experienced an act of pure evil as a child. But in all honesty, a huuuuge percentage of girls experience this sometime in their life, yet I cant even imagine harming another human being. I think its maybe because we are always told that victims often become the predator. I hate it!! Its not true and its a choice that every human being has. Maybe im naive i dont know

@mynameiseve the difference is nature. The same boiling water that hard boiled and egg makes mashed potatoes. Let's say you have a child that's good by nature. That child is a potato. No amount of boiling will make a potato an egg. Let's say you have a child who has family genetics that give them a predisposition to not conform. That child is an egg. If the egg is cared for it's just an egg. However if the egg is boiled it becomes hard. People are eggs or potatoes. You shouldn't judge the egg. They didn't choose to be an egg just be thankful youre a potato.

I wanted to add I'm not advocating for the lack of punishment. If someone commits a crime they should be held responsible. I also think we need prison reform. Treating people like animals isn't going to help them get better. Proved by the phrase the revolving door of the justice system. Our prisons are for profit. So they have a vested interest in arresting more people and keeping them locked up as long as possible. Even making them repffend in prison. They don't make any money by helping people get better. This is what I think needs to change.

I think she deserves a hefty sentence considering how violent her crime was, but this idea that someone with Borderline is untreatable is such a testament to how far we’ve come regarding mental health since the 80s and 90s.

@louieberg2942 2 ай бұрын
They sleep at night, because they simply played their part in proper court proceedings. The jury is there to produce a verdict and they do so on the basis of various explanatins of the facts of the case. While the prosecution needs to make the positive case of guilt, the defence need to explain the same facts of the case in a way that mitigates or exculpates their client. If the jury find this poorly argued or not a good explanation of the whole collection of facts, they do not rule in favour of the defence. That's how it should be, always, as at the time of the trial we are presumed innocent. Where things get bad is when either the defence or prosecution start to actively twist the facts. That immediately prevents the jury from doing what they're there to do. I didn't hear an example of that in this case.

@@louieberg2942Well said. Defense attorneys play an irreplaceable role in a fair (or as fair as humanly possible) justice system.
@Sephiroth766
@Sephiroth766 2 ай бұрын
The job of a lawyer is to make sure a defendant gets a fair trial. There is often a disconnect between what is legal and what some people will consider moral. Because of this, lawyers who operate within the law in a way that someone feels is unfair can have it projected onto them that as the attorney themselves is being unfair or their actions immoral. For example, defense attorneys are often a target of this when people don't think their client is morally deserving of a defense. "What kind of person would defend this horrific murderer/rapist/etc?" But everyone has a right to an attorney and to have that attorney ensure their rights are not violated and to mount a vigorous defense, and your attorney doesn't have to like you, agree with what you've done, or believe you are innocent in order to do that.
@Englishpatriot70
@Englishpatriot70 2 ай бұрын
@Sephiroth766 Yes, you are right. I was looking at it from a moralistic perspective. When you see them behave outlandishly in court , like giving the finger, it colours my view of them. What is really messed up about the Trade School is that it started out with kids that had a hard start that really wanted to be there. But, then Judges started giving really bad kids the choice of prison or go to this trade school. That’s when a lot of the good kids started getting bullied and the school went down hill.

Yeah I lived in TN as a teenager in the 90s and wanted to go there to learn welding (I'm originally from the gulf coast where welding is a huge industry thanks to oil). My mom actually looked into it for me because I'd missed a lot of school and they weren't going to let me "move up" to 12th grade, despite having extremely good grades. After getting some info and some opinions on it from people around where we lived who'd known kids who went there, she refused to let me go. One of the guys at the restaurant we worked at where I washed dishes on weekends asked me if I would voluntarily go to juvenile hall. When I said not just no but hell no, he laughed and told me that was pretty much what I'd be doing if I went. They still ran commercials on all the local stations (this wasn't even in Knoxville but in middle TN where we lived) about how great of an opportunity it was, etc, when I finally moved away around 2002.

“Mercy for Christa;” she didn’t show an ounce of “mercy” to her victim, nor to her second victim, who, from the sounds of it, barely survived Christa’s attack. I am *SO TIRED* of hearing about these psychopath’s poor upbringing and histories of abuse, or their ‘mental health’ issues. *WHO CARES* if they didn’t have a cozy, fluffy upbringing, or that they may have some sort of mental health issue. Has *anyone* had a perfect childhood? Has *anyone* gotten through life unscathed, abuse or bully free? Who among us *hasn’t* struggled with some aspect of our mental health? Personally, I am a strong believer in the death penalty, and I absolutely do not think there should be “plea deals” or “time off for good behaviour.” Some of these crimes are straight nightmare material, and people are getting off lightly, it’s infuriating.

An IQ of 111 isn’t incompatible with a brain injury. Different brain regions mediate separate functions. Physical abuse is the ONLY type of abuse with a significant correlation with antisocial behavior not because physical abuse itself will “create” a psychopathic individual but because physical abuse carries a significant risk of head trauma. Also, BPD has been shown to respond favorably to dialectical behavioral therapy. People with this disorder are vilified enough.

At least a narc knows what they are doing is wrong...they just don't care. But any reason to avoid accountability a bpd will take which is why it's so hard to treat. I was at Job Corps with her she was everything they reported and more. She joked about the murder openly. I know a woman who spent 15yrs on the block with her since her incarceration. She has several new charges and tried to kill 3 of her cellies. She now is alone but at least she has been there long enough that all her objects in her call got grandfathered in after the rules changed. Literally stuck in the late 90s and early 2000s

Thanks for the update... I hope you don't mind clarifying the last part.. what do you mean her stuff got grandfathered?
@williaml.6922
@williaml.6922 2 ай бұрын
@@jullietmburu9672grandfathering, or being grandfathered in, is a provision in which an old rule continues to apply to some existing situations while a new rule will apply to all future cases. Those exempt from the new rule are said to have grandfather rights or acquired rights, or to have been grandfathered in. - Copy and paste from Wikipedia. In other words, the Department of Corrections must have instituted a rule change regarding the types of items an inmate is allowed to keep in their cell. The inmate in this video was allowed to keep the items she had prior to the rule change, probably because she's been incarcerated for so long. Hope this helps.

I agree with you on that for sure. Often, many young females often completely blame the other "lady" on the decisions their own broke butt, bumbing, weak ass, so called man. When they even know that their "man" probably told the other female that they were broken up with them. It's never really the other females fault cuz most younger " men" always like to play the feild. This was so senseless, especially cuz they are all young. Another thing, please don't ever say anything to even elude to the fact that you did anything!!!! Never ever tell on yourself, DAH!!!
