I went to boarding school in Scotland best years ever. My family lived in Florida for two years when I was in 7th and 8th grade. My parents asked me if I wanted to go back to boarding school as my dad had another overseas contract. I said yes please I hate school here. So I went back to Scotland and my friends.

Not true. For a lot of kids it's an opportunity to live away from their parents ("no rules," or so they think) and have everyday sleepovers with their peers. Depends on the school

A friend of mine refused to seek treatment for his bipolar disorder and depression for decades. His argument was that treatment would fundamentally change who he was. My argument was that he was a miserable c*** who nobody liked because of his issues, and that fundamentally changing who he was would be a GOOD thing. It didn't work and we haven't talked for years, but he DID seek treatment on his own a year ago, and from everything I've heard he's now an enjoyable person to be around.

I think the general fatigue of depression is the worst! I can deal with whatever depression throws at me but being tired is something that seriously uproots my life.

This is one of many cases where Mental Health cannot be used as an excuse for one's actions. There are many people who have mental health issues who wouldn't harm a fly but this woman meticulously planned out the execution of her children and then cried "mental health caused me to do this". I'm tired of mental health being used as an excuse for nearly every criminal because they're too scared to go to prison and too self absorbed and ignorant to take accountability for their actions. R.I.P Beau & Calyx.

not to mention making it almost impossible for those ACTUALLY experiencing genuine issues to get help. I've seen a couple courtcases where I'd swear those on trial needed institutionalizing and went to prison instead. What a twisted up world we live in. Sooner they let truth serums in court the better.

Her behavior described throughout the documentary as a whole just made her seem like an attention seeking child who never grew up desperate to be noticed. I’m sure her children had mental health issues too (likely caused by her) that they had to deal with on their own because their mother was a train wreck and father was absent. Sad they had to deal with all this throughout their short lives

@Kkbunns🐰 yes but there are people who truly do have severe mental health issues, and they aren't treated with respect or taken seriously because of all the people who DO use "mental health" as just a scapegoat/excuse. If you don't think mental health can affect a person's behavior you're the one off your rocker. As a recovering addict it took me many trys in detoxes and rehabs to get clean, and I've probably got more firsthand experience and knowledge than legitimate psychiatrists. (I also have a college education on the subject). I have seen people make phone calls every night, arguing with their husband slamming the phone for weeks on end. Having in depth conversations with this person on the phone, only to find out by watching this person wasn't dialing the correct amount of numbers to even get it to ring. They were batshit crazy talking to nobody. And their "hair" was a wig because she would pull it out. That's just one example of the ridiculous behavior people with mental issues partake in. In Julie's case it does NOT justify her actions, but then again how mentally sick do you have to be to shoot your son in the head?? People are sick

No wonder the USA has so much gun violence and overflowing prisons and streets full of people wandering about like unkept homeless zombies instead of being treated in mental health units. Except she planned this. It was premeditated which means she DID have control over her actions. She wrote about it. She bought the gun specifically for it. She waited patiently three days for the gun, she said she killed them because they were too mouthy and had abused them for years. She then hid it consciously by lying to people saying they would be gone. Most mentally I’ll people aren’t violent. She wasn’t psychopathic. She was an abuser. Period. And she is at fault for refusing help for her Illness period. She deserves what she gets.

My mother suffers from severe mental health issues, which for years went untreated due to a psychosis which caused a mistrust in medicine. It went from odd beliefs, to her almost starving herself to death, to her not speaking or taking care of herself for a year and a half before we could finally get a Form done on her (in Ontario it's basically an involuntary psych hold that has to be approved by a judge). We went through hell, but she eventually found the mixture of meds that worked for her, and she's back to her old self again. She is aware of what she went through, and we, her loved ones, are aware of the signs. When people who are worrying you start to look at alternate literature, like The Secret, or any kind of metaphysical thing that seems out there, it means things are gonna go downhill soon.

I heard a similar story from a beautiful woman who grew up in a cult on an interview channel here on youtube. she almost died by trying to throw herself into traffic.

I've become estranged from my daughter because of these same reasons. Not only very bad mental health but also years of recreational drugs on top. I have become the most evil person alive in her eyes and I have had to deal with accusations that have been awful and disgusting. She refuses to get support and right now it's because she is 'stable' which is not really the reality and even if so, it's not permanent without support. I just don't see it ever ending. The destruction caused by mental health is huge and people generally don't understand or realise that. It's true that they are more at risk themselves but psychosis and delusions are potentially very dangerous. There needs to be more awareness because people do not understand most mental health. There's a huge difference between someone lying and someone believing something is true due to psychosis. The latter is frightening and can be used as justification for seriously bad outcomes.

same thing here. except the doctors didnothing but take her money. they discarded her after the insurance ran out. it took decades, and she trusted them. maybe if she hadnt been so indoctrinated by society, she wud have trusted the love of her family. you should be prepared for the worst.

I thought they didn't want me to be happy, that they were trying to control me. Make sure your daughter knows that you're always going to be here for her if she decides she's had enough of the life she is currently living. She needs to know someone's in her corner even if she hates you

The real problem is that unless a mentally I’ll person is institutionalized, there’s really no way to guarantee they’re taking their meds. Parker leaving was definitely the spark that led to this incident, but he had to go for his job, so they needed live in help for her that would make sure she stayed medicated and supervised. And honestly, the amount of harm she was doing to her kids in their formative years, institutionalizing her should have been on the table from the beginning. She needed more help than he was able give when he was home.

It's also why I think the idea of being a housewife is an anathema to mental health. If you have a job, you have a reason to go outside every day, you have other adults to hold you accountable. I find it a huge red flag that her husband thought being a housewife was going to improve her mental health when she suffered from severe depression, leaving somebody like that home alone is the opposite of what they need.

It's insane to hear how Julie started out as someone who was really admired and ended up in a downward spiral that turned her into the opposite and ended her children's life. It always sad when someone's life is taken but even more if the victims are children who had their whole life ahead of them :(

I have bipolar one, and have been a military wife (it’s not easy raising kids while your partner is gone for who knows how long). Neither is easy. I appreciate how you don’t look down on mental illness, especially harder ones. This whole case is so sad :(

From a battle to another we thank you for all you do for us when we are gone. It means a lot to us, more than we give you guys credit for. I must add we tend not to show you guys the appreciation you deserve when we come home. The military is a sacrifice that our wives tend to bear more than they should. My wife has bipolar also, what helped us was The Most High and praying together. Try it will will bring alot of peace to you both. G is a good person and no he does not. The fact he always promotes speaking out for mental health is amazing he has stayed true to this from the beginning.

Out of all the channels I follow, this is probably my favorite crime coverage channel. I wish the system would realize that abusive parents usually relapse into abusing their kids. Some parents are given too many chances while others are given none. And people don't realize how blind they were to things until someone is hurt or dead. One day I hope that the system can be reformed, so it actually protect children.

Absolutely. I finally walked away completely from my abusive birth monster after she repeatedly refused to seek professional help. We begged. We pleaded. She was a combo platter of Cluster B Personality Disorders and absolutely *could* control her behavior if she wanted to impress others. She destroyed the family completely and by the time of her physical death the trail of wrecked and destroyed lives she left in her wake was stunning in both chronicity and severity. We are all profoundly relieved she’s dead now-that includes the community. She was an Equal Opportunity Destroyer. Despicable woman.

It’s so crazy to hear this story from such a different perspective and as an adult. My original being a classmate and close friend of Beau. #BlueForBeau Thanks you for telling their story. Thank you for telling all of these victims stories. I can speak from personal experience that the “sass” wasn’t as it was made out to be. I can speak from my heart in saying that even as a child… even as children… I could see how sensitive they were to their mothers mental health. It’s such a sad story. I wish I could post the yearbook tribute to them. It was beautiful. 🥹❤️💔

Teenagers are trying but you have to stick with it and keep being supportive. My daughter started rebellion at 13, she's 19 now and finally turning around. It takes time and patience. Moms and daughters are like oil and water most of the time. Love is the cure ❤. I love how you advocate for mental illness and abuse! Keep up the good work! God bless!

As a veteran, I have to wonder...If her husband was so worried about her mental health and being able to take care of their kids, as an officer, he has the ability to resign his commission and leave the military at any time. He made it to Colonel and would likely get a pension well enough for the family to live off of and he would have been there to make sure his children were safe. Not that he has any blame in what she did, but he knew she was off her rocker.

I was also thinking that the idea that she would improve by leaving her job and having kids while being a military wife, who often are alone for periods and also likely to move often. It seemed very naive that whatever chemichal imbalance that goes with mental illness would miracoulusly be healed by pregnant and the hormonal effects (which on the contrary often carries a stress enough to have women ave their first encounter with mental illness). Sure she may not have been able to carry out her previous job but perhaps something requiring slightly less but still hade her in a regular social kontext with other grown up co-workers. But of course, in hindsight the questionable decisions are often more noticable.

She had a busy thriving career, leaving it for the isolation of being a stay at home parent while her husband was away for long periods of time,it was never going to end well. He or someone else should have been the primary carer while she was having intense therapy sessions, a type A was never going to be happy with a boring life at home with the kids, then with the depression/mental illness & toxic r/ship with Calyx added to the mix she was a powder keg, while her spouse was away with his active lifestyle that never had to change. Not that she should be excused for killing her children, I'm all for life with no parole.

He was talking about divorce at one stage. That would have given him the opportunity to apply for custody of the children, to remove them from any harm being caused by their mothers illness. He said he was tired of her outbursts and if he was sick of it, l imagine the children were too. He should have followed through, or at least hired a nanny/ bodyguard, passing her off as a live-in housekeeper to his wife, to ease any stress on the domestic side of her life. This case is so sad.

If the husband knew how nuts she was, and that the children were not safe, it was very irresponsible of him and he should have had some type of charge. At the very least, he should got her some help and got her help with the children. The children might still be alive.

Yeah, we will likely never know the real reason, because I don't think she will ever tell the truth. Maybe when people stop paying attention to her and she is all out of options. At first I thought that the candle accident burned him and she didn't get help and the longer it went on, the more she realized she could get in trouble for not getting him to the dr. So she decided that him disappearing would be better than dealing with those consequences. She thought of herself as perfect and better than his mom and that would be questioned. After watching a lot of the trial, I think she may have started the fire (if there was a fire, I'm still confused about that) to try to get rid of him or at least preplanned a lot of it. I The judge seems to think she snapped because he backtalked or loved his mom more. There may be some truth in all of those.

Please be careful with statements like that. It's been stated, that she'd been diagnosed with depression and borderline personality. Her thoughts and actions were clearly not rational. I'm not saying she's not responsible for what she did; but given the situation, it's also questionable, if the constant moving and beeing left alone with the children was a responsible decision.

She has a mental disorder and was able to premeditate a murder, she left a note for the carpool and she took a small does of pills and send an email just in time to get save. She is POS. Same as other killers with metal illness. She deserves to spend life in prison.

Although this story is incredibly sad, thank you for highlighting the issue of mental illness. Too many times people try to hide the condition or the family tries to pretend it isn't happening, people are damaged. We need to be honest and open about the topic. Perhaps if it didn't have such a horrible stigma, people would realize it is an illness and can be treated without shame.

Anytime I hear someone go off their meds I cringe so hard because I know how important they are since my sister have schizoid personality disorder and suffer from repeated psychotic episodes and I have BPD and bipolar disorder 😢

This entire video was harrowing, but the moment that nearly brought me to tears as a man was the revelation that Parker wasn't even aware of what happened to his family until he was able to get back from Qatar... what a nightmare it must be to be wracked with concern over your wife and kids but be so far away that there's no way you can do anything to stop the worst from occurring. Then one day it actually does happen... depressing.

he should not have left them with her she literally drove under the influence and put herself in hospital and Calyx had documented issues with her mother, to the point where many other people were aware. You shouldn’t put your career over your children, they have no one else to rely on in this life but you.

My maternal grandmother had paranoid schizophrenia. My Great Aunt (grandmothers sister) pretty much raised my mom and her brother. She got pregnant at an older age and had a baby a year before I was born. She had her baby (my aunt) in horrible situations and almost killed her. My aunt grew up to be a phenomenal person and mother. My Grandmothers life was so sad full of drugs, shock treatments, and being in psych hospitals on and off. It was just a sad life.

My brother also I spent most of my life taking care of him to keep him out of jail and me tal wards. At times I thought i was losing it. He was a Nam vet and it triggered it. I loved him and miss him so much . He was a genius and it was like having to stay 5 steps ahead of a mad scientist.

I have PTSD and bipolar. When I was homeless a school friend who was in the navy gave me a truck to live in, he tried pushing ekkert toll on me and it upset me greatly. The idea that my pain was a choice, when I was feeling so much of it every day and this man was condescending, "nobody's trying to take your pain away, it's yours and you can choose to stop feeling it" I cried over the idea that my own friend believed my struggles where my choice. I told him how much these ideas hurt me and he just kept pushing it, nearly every time we spoke he'd mention toll or mindfulness. I wrote a book about my Iife, he refused to read it. I asked him to study PTSD, he had the option, in the navy he could study whatever he wanted, I thought if he understood PTSD he might stop telling me my pain was a choice. He refused to take those classes, didn't want to know what it was, just wanted me to get over it. At one point he tried getting me to enlist in the navy, telling me to lie about my bipolar. Anything so I'd have a job. I haven't spoke to him since he took his truck back when I received my section 8.

Parker should either have quit the military or divorced her and taken custody of the children. Being fully aware of her mental health issues and still opting to leave her alone with the children for months on end makes him partially responsible for what happened.

I just had an episode last night. I have GAD and MDD. Medication has helped me for the past 6 years but now things are going downhill. I used to have crippling panic attacks in my late teens/early 20’s and eventually got everything under control but the anxiety is back and I had a severe attack last night in a food lion parking lot. I could not drive or move for 4 hours. It felt like an out of body experience. I was dizzy, my finger tips were numb and my heart was skipping beats. I rode it out. On my own. I have a fiancé that I love dearly but he does not understand mental illness. He can’t wrap his mind around it. That and addiction. I struggle on my own. I don’t know why the anxiety has come back full force. I’m 38 now. I thought I had beat it. I need to be healthy for my child. I’m sorry for rambling but the first part of this video made me cry. Thanks for listening, folks.

I no it’s hard as a mental health nurse sometimes I see patients who have been going really well go downhill for no major reason or sometimes it’s just a chemical imbalance. I don’t no we’re your living but I’m assuming US but i could be wrong? It’s a pity you are not were I am as we have pretty good free healthcare..and over my 25yrs working in US, UK and Australia 🇦🇺 I can say that one thing Australia does brilliantly is support for family members of people with a mental illness., I work in a rural inpatient mental health unit and every Monday and Thursday nights carers can attend free support sessions without unwell family member for 1st half of meeting.. it’s all confidential..hope you are feeling better soon, remember just like say diabetes having a mental illness is just that an illness of the brain which much is still not known about.. don’t let anyone ever tell you, you are not worthy.. love and respect from Australia 🇦🇺 also it still is crazy that US still allows unwell people to get guns..how can you lose your licence due to bad driving but it’s ok to buy a gun..WTF..it’s unfortunate but the 1996 massacre in Australia probably saved so many lives as gun laws were changed within 3mths..

I hope you get the help you need. I’m no doctor but it is concerning you briefly mentioning addiction. I’m not sure what you are addicted to but being that you already are on medication for your conditions, adding brain altering substances definitely can have an impact. I don’t know if it’s your fiancé’s task to ‘understand’ addiction. Definitely recommend going to whatever rehab is required to be rid of that addiction.

It’s good that medication was helping but it is worth mentioning to your psychiatrist that things are not working now and that you need additional help. Best of luck, Sarah. I know these things are very difficult to navigate. Best bet is to be honest and up front with your partner and your health care provider that you are not in a position to do what you expect of yourself for your family and I think anyone who cares about you would see that and offer assistance.

Ty for starting with such a priceless introduction! Best channel yet for true crime and attempting to see the signs. Please be kind. You never know what someone is going through. As a survivor of a bipolar mother, (she was terrible and we were abused in EVERY way) never, ever, ever leave your children with an unstable caretaker. Two of my siblings are dead, as a direct result of her abuse. It was horrific and she’d really put on a show of being a good mom, when my Dad would come home. He was military too. He finally wised up and kicked her out. I do blame Parker, like I blame my Father. Like my Father, he believed the spouse and in turn lost two children; just like my Dad lost two. AND, family knew and no one stepped in and helped us. Do NOT leave kids ever with someone suffering from severe mental illness. Not only could they be killed, but suffer the atrocious acts of abuse from a mentally unstable parent. It will keep happening, unless we get tough and protect not just children, but the sufferers. Sure we want family together. However, heart hurt is never a reason to leave kids with someone who is ill period. It is better to break up a family through removal, then to watch a family be annihilated by mental illness. Over and over, kids are left with someone suffering and everyone seems so surprised when that person murders their kids. We allow it to happen every single day

My god I'm so sorry you went through this. So many failed these 2 children especially their dad & family members. Like you knowing how ill their mother was but just left them alone with her is just inconceivable to me. Breaking up a family is never an easy option but compared to what the children are already living through daily, surely it's the best option. It took such bravery to share your horrendous story but you did it so eloquently & compassionately. Thank you. I wish you & your family nothing but peace & love ❤️

Yep. We talk the talk about caring for kids but we sure don’t walk the walk. Mine was an enraged cluster b personality disordered individual who refused to get help despite us begging her to do so. Her rage never abated, it was fission fueled. I despise the pass we give to these crazy ass “mothers.”

Andrea Yates, remember her. She killed her five kids while experiencing post partum psychosis. Her sentence was adjusted when her therapists and dr testified about how her husband wouldn’t let her get treatment and how he would provoke her into an episode. She’s the first person with a mental illness the courts agreed to talk to. And the Aurora Shooter. It took them two years to get that guy to a point where he could help with his own defense

anxiety/panic disorder, a good reason to kill and get away with it, yet if this was Iraq/Iran she wouldve been within her legal rights to kill her children! and no consequences! here the difference with our corrupt justice system is murders walk Prison justice if Biblical, now heres a daddy biden story that took place, a divorced woman had her 2 daughters Daddy worked in the government has powers like biden, the daughters 17/5 were with the mother as i said, now 17 year old had a bf that mom caught him stealing from her she told her daughter he was no longer welcome and if he came back she would have him arrested, daughter grabs a butcher knife hands it to the bf and says kill her, and as the bf is killing her mom she takes another butcher knife and kills her little sister, now like i sad daddy did the same thing biden did for his rapist embezzling son made all law enforcement/prosecutors/ judges vanish this girl didnt even get finger printed as she lives freely even today, oh the bf he got 16-20 which = the death penalty, prison justice says you ruthlessly kill a woman / child you dont deserve to live, with in a month he was in the morgue, as for the murdering daughter i figure shes married today and that part of her past is just an old memory,

The fact that this "mother" PASSED a background check for purchasing a gun is utterly terrifying. There are so many others with a history of mental disorders that have done the same and gone on to commit horrendous crimes. It is way past time for new regulations and reforms regarding owning a gun. I'm all for the 2nd amendment, but I think as a nation, we need to update this right to fit what is happening in the US. I do hope that this woman gets the help she so clearly needs while serving her sentence.

It’s the catch 22 that every person with a diagnosed mental health issue is you find the right med and you start getting better, your holding a job, taking care of yourself, eating well. But then you convince yourself that maybe you don’t need the meds so often. Like missing every other day but still feeling better until you hit the spiral. So now you have the idea that the med doesn’t work anymore, so why bother to take it. And then it creeps up and bites you in the butt. I’m bipolar and I behave myself because I have a small dog and he’s my world and I’m his. I have to bite my tongue because I have to get back home to my dog What ever works to motivate you to take your meds every day

I have my cats for the same reason. I have to get up so that I can feed them and look after them. They are my complete world. Everyone thinks I'm nuts, and I am, just not for the reasons they think. I had a severely mentally ill mother, it sucks. It doesn't matter how much you know that what she is saying or doing is because of the illness, it still hurts. Though I can't hold it against her, because she just wasn't in her right mind. This woman was so ill- not evil, but very, very ill. When she is more stable she will never be able to forgive herself for what she has done. She has to be punished, obviously, but I also hope that she gets the treatment she so desperately needs.

I can so relate to this. I'm also bipolar and recently lost my dear fur friend. It took months to decide whether to adopt another dog bc my mental health is in decline as well as chronic pain. When I finally decided to get one, I told my mom that this decision was more than adopting a dog, it was a decision to not take my life in the foreseeable future (at least however long my new friends life will be) sorry to be so frank, it's just literally how things are. We all cope the best we can, at least we're trying..... Wishing you peace and contentment for you. ✌️ ☮️ hang in there.

When I was diagnosed at 17 my mom described it as being like a diabetic - the meds are correcting for my body's chemicals, and even though I feel better I'll need to keep that correction balanced. Thinking this way, it's never occurred to me to stop taking them; I'm well aware I'm well BECAUSE I keep taking them. I feel sad for those who don't get this, and send how that they'll figure it out. ✌️🍍
