@@cen3684 I pair them as Gale/Karlach (their days are numbered), Astarion/Wyll (abusive relationships) and Lae'zel/Shadowheart (lives built on lies). But it really depends on what you want to focus on.

@@Whitecroc Those are all very good connections and the game certainly draws them too, but the game will also draw a number of comparisons throughout the game. Gale understands Shadowheart and Lae'zel's extreme loyalty to their respective god/godlike figures. He also feels strongly for Karlach and her dramatically shortened lifespan. Wyll and Karlach will relate to anyone grappling with gross power imbalance. Astarion specifically gets frustrated at party members being strung along by people with authority over them. I've heard him grumble about Lae'zel if she bends a knee to her queen, as well as also reject the idea of devil contracts beyond that one time to Raphael. Thematically though, the characters do seem to have their pairs. Wyll and Karlach are the most obviously connected by way of being dicked over and manipulated by devils with little chance for escape. The way you get them highlights the fact that they aren't so different. Lae'zel and Shadowheart present as rivals and foils, both are very abrasive and fanatically devoted to their respective god figures, but with Lae'zel being more honest and upfront in her distain for people. Gale and Astarion have slightly less in common on the surface, but they are both desperately trying to claw back control of their respective situations after being manipulated for a very long time. Both of them have self worth issues as a result.

It’s interesting because it shows you, too, that the romance arc plays a huge part of Astarion’s own journey to regain his agency. He wasn’t ready for this and ultimately didn’t enjoy it, but he gave consent enthusiastically up front and was willing to at least try. He’s healing enough to start testing the boundaries for himself again. Gale is still struggling to find some footing in his own agency because he hasn’t gotten out from under his past the way Astarion is allowed to in this game. Rather than reject it firmly up front the way Astarion does prior to Cazador, he’s still trying to begrudgingly please even as he sets limits. Some solid character writing there.

I get it's funny if you're not interested in him, but he's otherwise such a sweet, caring man, I love him for it, and then they just ruin him by making him also like this.

And since being the bear seems to be his actual natural preference, his true self, since he's no longer trying to control himself, that implies that his natural self isn't that gentle and caring. I guess that's a turn on for many people, but not for me.

He is a animal in sorts, in lore when a druid becomes a animal he incorporate the instincts of the animal, even when not transformed, so.. nature i guess

Those feelings don’t disappear over night and he’s had 200 years of trauma. I wished the choice to ask if he was alright had been used.

If I did do this Lae'zel would've been just waiting patiently alone because I have Halsin and Shadowheart, those are who I romanced and they're both in my party. I had Karlach, whom I left at the bar while Tav, Halsin and Astarion were enjoying themselves. While they were there, Karlach tried the special drink, got super drunk and ended up in jail. It was proper hilarious! :D

I mean, he's definitely shamey, but he certainly could have been a bigger ass about it too. The problem with games is that they never account for the fact that if this were real life and this specific Tav was very much down for this, they probably would have had this conversation with their partners long before and skipped the drama. (I don't expect that of games right now, but honestly, it'll be nice when we've grown up a bit more as a culture/games specifically as an art form, and actual polyamory and discussions thereof start making their way into them as more then a joke, a curiosity, or (as I've already been seeing and do take issue with) as bait that isn't actually delivered on with nuance and care.)

Some characters are purely monogamous, some are poly; and in either case, there are examples of characters who are mature and emotionally intelligent about it, and some who are messy and immature. Just like real life. In particular, I've been extremely impressed with Halsin's approach to romance, sex, and polyamoury. As much as it's tied to his druid nature (no pun intended), it's also just... mature. Which makes sense, considering his age.

I've been thinking about introducing a third..." conversation for every character purely for this interaction. I mean it's a nice idea but I'd be blown away if something as specific as that was implemented. Wouldn't put it past Larian Studios, though.

I guess he feels like he can't refuse you if you've freed him from Cazador. Or thinks that killing Cazador would be enough to erase the trauma only to find himself quite wrong.

Then when it happens he’s already going through the motions and dissociating and he just doesn’t stop. I don’t think it’s him doing it to please Tav at this point.

I romanced Karlach but she refused but gave the green light so I sent her to camp and ask again and the twins asked to Astarion as well (to whom I haven't really talk much and has been mostly in camp and I haven't finish his personal quest) and he accepted with something like "Our leader here haven't had the decency to sleep with me in all this time and I plan to change that" And on the bedroom the dialogue chance a bit as I did let him bit me once and he mentions something about that.

@@cas2762 Yeah that's how I interpret it. He's genuinely trying to learn to enjoy sex on his own terms but he ended up triggering himself. It's something that happens to a lot of people who experience SA, they feel comfortable enough to try again but find out they still have healing to do

In my playthrough she was down, and l hadn't finished her act 3 stuff yet

She wants her first time with you to be just the two of you, so you have to have the beach scene first

@@baboje91 You just need to complete her romance, not her storyline. I still haven't done her quests in Baldur's Gate and I already completed her romance so I was able to do it. From what I can tell, after the beach night scene with Shadowheart you just need to do the Dryad quest at the Circus. I got all her questions about Shadowheart correct and then it was complete. It may still work if you get a pass but without all the correct answers, but I didn't try. May even not need to do the Dryad quest, just do the beach scene.

I also find it funny that it's the Cleric and the Druid that go "oh hell yeah let's fuck" at this lol
