The nautilus is the humble cephalopod. They're not flashy, don't have any particularly fascinating abilities or much of a wow factor. They're just reasonably protected, reasonably fast, and reasonably capable of doing cephalopod things that they need to. It's not glamorous, but hey. Considering that they're essentially living fossils they seem to take the adage of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" to heart.

Dude, they have external shells and use them as floating control. That is amazing.
@videobruj
@videobruj Жыл бұрын
The are the only cephalopod that has an externalized shell, this fact along with the fact that they have been around so long and show up so long ago in the fossil record offers more evidence to the theory that ancestral cephalopods, such as the ancestors of octopi and cuttlefish, had externalized shells as well

Nautili are closely related to ammonites but they arent ammonites, in fact, they are descendants of the giant orthocones
@Jukajobs
@Jukajobs 5 ай бұрын
Nautiloids, the group these guys are a part of, seem to have originated in the Cambrian, which was way before dinosaurs. But it seems that the word "nautilus" is usually used to refer to a specific family that originated in the Triassic, that's around the same time as dinosaurs did. So it depends on how broad you are when you say "nautilus". And since other people are talking about ammonites, based on what I've been able to find, ammonoids, the group they're a part of, are actually a little younger than nautiloids.

Well i dont you can upvote me or tell me its Wrong....Life in all Situation is always finding way to survived and Adapt...who know those Hundred Billion Years old Remnants of Ammonite Family from several Extinction Event in Earth's long History only Humans could End their efforts to Hundreds of Million years of Survival....
