Ive been commenting on whatever i can get my keyboard on, im ready to give Utah 2 more 1st rounders. With Rudy, and Conley, and creating a winning culture that we have lacked for 20 years, reallys sped up Anthony Edwards development. And Rudy's passion for the defensive side of the ball is the reason we saw what game 2 looked like. When everyone is locked in. couldnt be happier for the guy, and the team. When you are surrounded by people you trust to defend, and you put the work in. When there is 5 guys on the court that know exactly what to do and skill and ethic to do it. Its beautiful. And Rudy instilled that for sure.

I have not seen a team this dedicated to defense in years. YEARS. I think any true basketball fan knows that watching defense played at this level is every bit as exciting as a high powered offense. @@poorchris you are insane, go back outside and continue smoking please. The Bulls from Thibs didn't change anything. The Detroit Pistons changed everything. You literally couldn't play defense after that. It only got worse with every year after 2005. Yes the Grizzlies did have amazing defense but it wasn't on the Pistons 04 level. Come on dude stop it. Those dudes literally stopped a prime Shaq and Kobe. Grizzlies didn't stop anyone near the same level of talent. I love Tony Allen btw, he was a clamp down stud. The Bulls in the East come on dude. I'm out, I'm not entertaining this silly argument. Real defense died after 04. I am willing to bet this type of defense won't be allowed against Shae Gilgeous Alexander, Jalen Brunson, etc.

@@FTFC365I’m french so who cares 😂 nah seriously, Rudy individual expertise at defence is like Wemby’s one, but he also communicates and teaches defence, look at Ant in the World Cup: completely lost and unaware of defence fundamentals, but then he transformed in months learning from Rudy. Wemby’s not at that level yet, the guys like Sochan and Vassell never took defence seriously even with Wemby, they’ve not listened to Wemby because he was a rookie, from France (and you gonna teach us defence ? dude…). With Tatum, I always feel like his brand of finesse ball is what the rest of the team emulates. If we make the Finals against the Wolves, I honestly don't think we can beat them.... Ant will start jawing at Tatum and he will shrink just like he did against Draymond in the 22 Finals

Dude you are a real one. I'm a Lakers fan (not a Lebum fan, can't wait for him to bounce) so I have nothing to gain from this but I'm 100% with your take. Jaysun shrinks in the big moments but the worst part it is actually your coaching style. Joe Mazulla is doing what Brad Stevens was doing. You can't win like that, ISO taking turns and chucking up threes. Analytics has taken over most teams offenses and the Boston Celtics run so high on analytics. It will fail every time because analytics doesn't take into account the mental, emotional, etc of the big stage. Everything drops and certain players shrink. I don't expect Derrick White and Jaysun to show up in the Finals. Derrick White and Jaylen have gotten you there so far in the playoffs. Jaylen will do what Jaylen always does but Tatum and White won't. Same thing that happened to Tyler Herro (White equivalent )in the Heat Finals 2020. Those guys disappear and you can't count on those guys for your main offense. You need Tatum and Brown. Anyways we will see what happens.

@LazyCrazyGuy You're spot on. Things like always chucking a 3 to get the 2-for-1 at end of quarters is based on analytics and it's so dumb. Tatum and Brown are elite midrange scorers but they never take those shots like Ant does. Tatum needs to live in the mid-post way more

Hmm. I don't see them accepting roles as valuable, as accepting the training schedule to suddenly having defense training on it. The defense training is otherwise prohibited to be trained by coaches. But the Wolves circumvented the ban by making Gobert run the defense trainings. The media has been ordered to run a huge campaign, that it is impossible to play effective defense in today's era. And the Wolves players to see through that lie, is the real achievement here.

It's great to see a bunch of pieces that just fit together. Nvm the offense for a bit, but look at this team from top to bottom on D and it's scary. KAT is their weakest defender, and he's capable of playing moving well and protecting the rim when he wants to. But the Utah imports brought their 'no-mistake' smart defensive play at the point-of-attack (Conley) and the paint (Rudy); then you look at Jaden as probably the absolute last guy you want guarding you as a scorer, and all that overshadows how hard Alexander-Walker goes every game, and how versatile folks like Reid and Kyle Anderson are. Not to mention how Ant is stepping into that epic two-way level that all the greats (MJ, Kobe, Wade) reached in their primes.

The Wolves have now proven that you can still play defense in this league. Most teams simply don't.
@LazyCrazyGuy
@LazyCrazyGuy 23 күн бұрын
The refs are allowing it. Look at every other series up until this point. They only allowed the Lakers to play this type of defense. Everyone else is still getting called for almost everything. Look at Embiid had like 20 - 30 free throws. Look at Jalen Brunson like 15 - 20 free throws a game. Shae 15 - 20 free throws a game. Nuggets and Wolves not getting 10 free throws a game. I think it is because the Nuggets knocked off their king. They want the Nuggets out so they are allowing this type of defense. Let's see if they allow it against OKC/Dallas or Celtics.

80 % of ex-NBA players go broke in a few years after they retire. I wonder what the pay was for ex-players, to keep repeating in media channels like this one, that defense cannot be played effectively in this era.

@@penkima4923 That statistic is more than 20 years old and is totally innacurate to apply to today's players, who are making far more money and have access to far more financial education from the league and players' union. That issue has been addressed for the NBA my dude. Now the NFL is another story. Most of those guys still go broke eventually.

Defense is easier to mentally accept than offense. This team is riding on confidence and the best thing that could’ve happened was getting PHX first round. Now that Ant beat his GOAT and outplayed him, all they have to do is ride defense and it’s smooth sailing.

I am worried about the thunder and Celtics. Those are some big teams to overcome but so are the nuggets. The thunder are dangerous though because of their 3 pt shooting and with sga getting every call I'm sure kat will get into foul trouble against them.

@@MB-jz3uuliterally my same take. I think the refs are letting Wolves play lock down defense against the Nuggets because they knocked out their king. But the next series or any other series. They aren't allowed to play this type of stifling defense.

Gobert deserved DPOY. There are so many factors that casuals aren't understanding. For example, Wemby is new. Players didn't hold back shots on the inside yet until they had played him a few times and realized he blocks those. With Gobert, they already know... so he's altering players shots constantly and having more impact than the block numbers show. Same will happen to Wemby, btw. Blocks will go down now that players have more "nevermind" moments. Also Gobert is #1 for defensive win shares. And way more... so many factors go into DPOY

Minnesota is literally playing LIKE WOLVES. Greg Anthony, the leader of the 1990-91 UNLV Running Rebels, famous their suffocating "amoeba" defense, once said that when they played Defense it was a feeling that was better than sex. You can tell JJ and this other dude have never experience that cuz if they had they wouldn't call the Wolves defense "sicko". It's called DOMINATE.
