A couple points of clarification:
-I believe Pure Pleasure Records to be amongst the best for AFFORDABLE reissues. I deflected to mention that.
-In regards to my rant. I didn't quite explain myself correctly. my Nagaoka cartridge was nearing the end of its lifespan and one channel wasn't quite loud enough. I didn't know at the time, that was a by product of the stylus being worn, so when I got the grado, I didn't know if it was the cartridge or something in my stereo that was going wrong. So that's why I ended up spending a few bucks on new equipment thinking it was the issue. I didn't grasp the concept of 2 dead cartridges until later. Sorry, in my haste to tell the story, I missed some important points.
-People are strange, when you're a stranger

I happened across you today holding Motörhead’s Chiswick album. I was their Fan Club President for 37 years. And I enjoy your diatribes of albums just when I need a Channel like yours with your finds and you tell me it’s ending. You’re like an American John Peel, knowledgeable and interesting, but leave decisions on buying or not to the viewer. Keep going, I have your videos to watch, and your opinions are valid, but go with your head and what’s good for you.

You should tweet at grado, seriously. Most companies are frightened to death to have anything negative on Twitter.

Conical and Elitpical styli last about 300 hours, or 900 record sides. So if you play more than 2 records per day, you should buy styli every 6 months probably. If you buy the 95ML for for the VM95 you can double or triple those figures, might be a smart idea.

For those like me who are big band fans it maybe worth checking out Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson and Buddy Rich especially their 70's recordings. Kenton's album 'Plays Chicago' interprets the music of Blood, Sweat and Tears and early Chicago.

Great records as usual. I have been on a Duke Ellington kick lately and have been thinking of getting that coveted record! Maybe someday!

Thanks for the warning about Grado(?)! I am so determined to buy...I mean, not to buy Grado! I feel you, I don't have money to throw away either! Great video, Dave!

I have that cartridge also on my turntable. I use to have the Shure v-97 i think it was until it started sounding bad. Had it for a good long time but went with the audio technica one and it sounds good and i'm happy with it. the good thing is i can use that cartridge when i want to get a higher stylus.

The late 50s 57-59 Ellington is some of the best sounding jazz ever recorded in my opinion, even better than the often worshipped early 60s Miles. Blues in Orbit, anatomy of a murder and Afro Bossa are all Duke classics that aren’t “ hip and angry “ enough for a lot of the VC jazzbos

Great shit like usual. I swear by AT cartridges and have for years. I do want to know more about that Sony receiver. I have a vintage Pioneer but would love something with Bluetooth.

Love my Nagaoka mp-110. I like the bass from it better than any other cartridge I’ve heard. I’m sure others will disagree, beauty being in the ear of the beholder and all that jazz..Sucks about the grado(s) though. Nice finds too.

Great rant David, I hate companies that take the piss like that..like we can all afford to waste money , time , not to mention considerable effort...glad you got a decent cartridge sorted in the end. What was the title of that Roy Harper album you showed, I've never seen that before.😉👍

Another great vid, I like the audio-technica vm-95e cartridge too, I fitted one to my Sony turntable and it sounds great through my Sony str-dh190 amp even using the built in pre amp.

Great SNFU shirt; long live Mr. Chi Pig. A million thanks for warning us off of the Grado cartridge. Picking a cartridge that's both affordable and sounds great is hard enough without them throwing defective crap into the mix.

I have a Grado Gold that I barely used on my Pro-Ject turntable because I couldn't stand the hum. I replaced it with an Ortofon Bronze, which sounds great and doesn't hum. I mostly use an Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB turntable with an AT-VM95E cartridge that works just fine for me. I'm no audiophile.

doesn't the Grado have a lifetime or limited lifetime warranty for workmanship that you could contact them regarding it?

Grado carts just aren't that great. Would've told you to avoid them. If you play a lot of records, download a free counter app and count the sides of vinyl you play.

What a shame! Those cartridges are very expensive and should work every time. On a positive note, you showed killer records. That Beatles BBC record was an amazing find and I love the purple Capital label. Take care.

Hey, Nazz... I heartily disagree about Loverboy...... They released some of the most catchy and accessible pop rock of the 80's....The first album is a stunner top to bottom(Prissy Prissy wow)... Second album is Hysteria before there was one(ie big hits, big choruses...When It's Over is wow)... It's on the third album(Keep It Up) where things start to fall apart(although standout Strike Zone maybe the best thing they ever recorded!).... Don't get me started with Lovin Every Minute Of It, so overall a decent career.... Do you like April Wine?.... Thanx for the great content and Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
