i wouldnt say he has an addiction, he simply went against the rules. He could easily not have a gambling problem while still breaking the rules of the NBA. All it takes is 1 bet to bet to break the rules. He made several, but not enough to assume a gambling problem, this is more of a being a dumbass problem.

Responsible gambling is an oxymoron. Great in theory, atrocious in practice.

not true, i consider myself a responsible gambler, i havnt made a bet since the superbowl, I also been to vegas 10 times over my life and have never been addicted gambling, to each their own though, glad i have the freedom to but my money on the line if i so chose.

@@donny5318 It doesn't work that way for most gamblers. I'm glad you know the difference. I also think having a real time bookie available to you 24/7/365 is very dangerous to most gamblers' financial well-being.

@@trees_up yeah but thats everything, while i dont have a gambling problem, like many i have a sweet tooth and those nutty buddies at the store i got a major addition too, no lie!! They will end up giving me diabetes lol, i had to quit monster drinks awhile back, was addicted to those till i noticed my heart racing at night trying to sleep. How many are addicted to the newest iphone every year that spends $1000 just to upgrade something that was perfectly fine, people are addicted. It never ends, gambling isnt much different. If someone spends 1000 bucks on a iphone, another person spends 1000 bucks a year gambling, another person killing themselves with garbage food, etc etc, to me it all comes down to self discipline and not outlawing anything.

I don’t see an issue if a player wants to bet on his own team winning, or betting on a game he and his team isn’t playing in (as long as he’s not using inside info). Now if you’re betting on your team to lose and playing that’s problematic, but I really never understood why they can’t bet they will win….. so stupid, or how they can’t bet on other sports.

Can they just make it so they can only bet on their team? No over, no under. Just their team winning?

He'll probably get lawyers/players union involved and appeal the "sentence" to 1-2 years with anti-gambling classes, etc. But still, even if that happens, I doubt any team will ever sign him for "altering his performance". The 2020s version of Ray Rice. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Did anyone else get reimbursed? This kinda stuff not only is gonna kill integrity in sports, but it'll kill betting as well. You might as well be betting on scripted WWE or your favorite TV show.

I guarantee you if you looked into the referees and umpires bank accounts you would see the majority of them are corrupt during the regular season not sure about the playoffs but don't see why they wouldn't be corrupt as well
