Check out World-Class Long Jumper Will Williams (IG @ijump_4_you) jump out of the gym! I was VERY excited to break down this jump as it speaks to the SAME 2-foot technique principles that I coach on the daily. Notice the following points:
1) Active PUSH through the Penultimate Stride
2) Tall Torso through the penultimate
3) Weight BEHIND the plant foot
4) Deliberate and Aggressive block foot (last contact)
5) Head neutral and eyes up, NOT the head.
and so on and so on and so on......
Enjoy this breakdown and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE for more breakdowns, technique coaching and jump training!

Tyler is a 14-yr veteran of the S&C world, former Professional Dunker and National Level Track athlete. He works with athletes of ALL ability levels to improve the technical components of jumping, helping athletes gain upwards of 4/5" of vertical in one session!
His passion for jumping is infectious and athletes that have worked with him all agree! Here is what a couple athletes had to say about working with Tyler:
Sophie Bukovec (Team Canada Beach Volleyball)
"I'm absolutely shocked at how I was able to gain a couple inches on my jump in just a few short minutes! Tyler definitely knows what he is talking about. What's great is that he really looked at the athletes and fine tuned things that would help the individual rather than just preaching about broader, over-arching techniques that would hopefully fit. I stayed to listen to him speak about jump technique TWICE! I learned so much and I didn't want it to stop!"

I don't comment a lot on KZfaq. But this is probably one of the greatest channels ever created. People usually just say "he can jump" this channels forces you to know why. AMAZING. Thank you for the knowledge

That slowmo is the best way to illustrate how your technique develops into the jump. Definitely would like to see it again with a before and after. Going to drill that into my head over and over again.

1) I’ve learned more from these last 2 breakdowns than I’ve learned in the last year 2) he keeps his R foot pretty anterior to the rim, then internally rotates his L hip on the block step, do you think he’s getting some fascial tensioning from that internal hip rotation that gives him a little extra spring? And ultimately...would you teach that?
@jumpguyty
@jumpguyty 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is most definitely some fascial benefits, but if I'm being honest and as stated in the video, I don't teach plant-block sequence in this way. Will is an ExTREMELY gifted and resilient athlete so I wouldn't dream of changing his execution. Traditionally I coach a turn plant sequence where the plant and block are still relatively parallel. In this case he is sourcing an immense amount of internal torque through his last contact. At those rate of speeds with someone under trained, you can be certain their hip WOULD NOT like that lol. Thanks for your support and I'm glad these videos have been helpful!
@smokeythegoldfish
@smokeythegoldfish 5 жыл бұрын
Project Pure Athlete yep I agree. It’s reeaalllyyy tempting to try to exploit that fascial tensioning though. After watching you break this down I’m gonna get on your website and send you some film to break down on my own mechanics, look forward to the feedback brother you’re doing great work.

As a triple jumper, I would have thought he would get even more height with a single leg takeoff. I think he can get even higher with a one legged takeoff. His speed is ridiculous, he probably can touch the top of the backboard lol.

I disagree too, at this point it's a pretty established fact that the highest jumps will be off two feet.

The caveat to this premise is if he naturally uses more elastic strength (that is, speed strength) for power production.

@roguiscell4795
@roguiscell4795 5 жыл бұрын
they are really similar, but kabeya is a goofy footer and he jumps like a lefty, and he also relies more in his muscle power than his technique, that is his jump does not look as polished, but he is almost perfect as a jumper too

Your strong leg should be your plant. If it's your right, then RL. Otherwise, LR

Jacob Howard hi follow this question. I also got LR style. But My right leg is much stronger than left. And Single right leg jump is much higher then LR two feet. In this way. Should i change to RL?but i tried RL,can't jump as high as LR
@Led.on.YouTube
@Led.on.YouTube 4 жыл бұрын
@@yanghe4459 you probably can't jump as high because you don't have the same amount of experience RL as LR. Break each movement down individually and repeatedly put them together so you can create a good foundation of muscle memory. Then keep practicing and soon you should be jumping higher RL then LR

It requires a lot of patience and passion for jumping. Just focus on being better than yourself. There's A LOT of in between to get to that point. See how far YOU can go. The hardest part truly is staying healthy and not injuring yourself to get to that point.
